The Space:
The Aloha Tai Suite is one of the members of the Aloha Aku rental family. Located at the fabulous Maui Sunset Resort Condo complex it offers the traveler looking for the resort condo experience a generous balance of reasonable cost and access to large resort amenities.

Family friendly, it features 1 bedroom with a comfortable King bed, 2 bathrooms, (one with a walk-in shower, the other with a tub/shower combo), a spacious living room with a queen pull-out 8.5" sleeper mattress sofa, as well as a comfortable twin murphy bed for even more sleeping space. It also sports a fully equipped kitchen and private covered lanai. For your beach days, this unit supplies, beach chairs, beach towels, and other helpful items.


There is a large pool and activities center onsite with an array of lawn games and equipment available for check-out as well as stand-up paddle board rentals. Security is maintained 24 hours and with easy self-check in you can access your suite any time of day or night. There is a courteous and helpful registration office with staff available and convenient free-parking is right outside your door. There is a small workout room, shuffleboards, putting greens on property, and adjacent public tennis courts.

The Maui Sunset is on Waiohuli Beach, an unspoiled, uncrowded area, and one of Maui's best kept secrets! World class golf courses and other great swimming and snorkeling beaches are nearby. Centrally located in mid-Kihei, lots of restaurants, shopping and groceries are within easy walking & biking distance.


The Aloha Tai Suite is a beautifully updated and comfortable one bedroom condo on the ground-floor of one of the best maintained resort/condominium complexes on Maui. We would love to host you and make your stay the most memorable and enjoyable as possible!

Parking was easy right out front the unit. Honestly, you get what you pay for. It’s an older building was a smaller unit, wear and tear, a few things could be updated in my opinion. That said, we didn’t mind and had a lovely vacation. We didn’t book a luxury rental, so didn’t expect that. It had all the necessities we needed with an 8 month old. Laundry, full kitchen, bath tub, pack and play. Ground level was great, sat on the grass outside while he napped. The location was good too, we walked to get coffee or happy hour. A nice perk was live music on the grass every Wednesday. Over all, was pleased but needs some easy updates.

Great location, right at the beach with a large grassy lawn! Also, close to Kihei town (some restaurants and shops are walking distance), and easy drive to other parts of the island. All amenities, such as pool, hot tub, gym, and gas grills are very enjoyable and well maintained. Inside, the condo is very nicely appointed. KItchen has everything needed and the living space is big and comfortable, with a great ground floor patio. It was so nice to be able to walk out to the pool and beach with no stairs. Bathrooms are updated and all is in good working condition. Large bonus closet is full of useful beach stuff, like extra beach towels, beach toys, folding chairs, coolers, snorkel stuff, shade umbrella, and all is in good condition and really enhanced our stay. We would definitely stay here again. We appreciate that the property managers took the time to message us frequently to be sure that we could access the property and that all was okay. Mahalo!

Place as advertised. Pretty clean and located steps away from the beach. Owner provided a pack n play at our request. Minutes away from plenty of restaurants. We did have to have maintenance come twice during our stay. Once when someone smashed the front door multiple times breaking one of the slats and another time the bathroom smelled like sewage, which couldn't be resolved during our stay

Great stay w/ minor issues

When checking in we did have to wait a bit after 3 since the cleaner was still working in there but we got to chatting with her and she recommended some good places to visit. Both showers were clogged up but we communicated that w the owners and they got it fixed right away. There was a damp type of smell in the bedroom not sure what it could’ve been but wasn’t a big issue for us. We did have an issue w the washer not sure if it needs a deep clean but it did stain some clothes, so just be aware of that. Other than that we enjoyed our stay there, they had appliances, cookware, beach chairs that we most certainly used. Absolute great location, grocery stores close by and some pretty good food spots as well.

Home away from home

Loved the place which was practical with the fold out beds. The resort amenities were nice to have and the equipment made available by the host like beach chairs and toys were a nice bonus. This place is a bit further back from the ocean but on the ground floor so easy access frok Lanai.

Easy with kids

We liked that the property was on the first floor and we could park right outside. That made it easy to carry all of our stuff in. We also like the mat there were two separate beds for the kids to sleep in. They prefer their own space. There were plenty of supplies for the 9 days we were there. The pool was also nice and big. You never felt like there were too many people there. The only negatives I can give is that there was a weird smell coming from the second bathroom. We could not use it because of that and kept the door closed. Also, the carpet should definitely be replaced. Overall a decent stay. Owners were very quick to respond to the issues we were having with the smell (even though they were unable to get rid of it). If you are looking for a place to stay that doesn’t feel like a resort and isn’t super busy, this complex is perfect. We also had friends and family staying in other units, and they were pleased.

Exactly what we were hoping for!

The property is beautiful and very well maintained. So close to the beach! Perfect spot to watch sunrise and sunset. Loved the pool and hot tub area. The room was very clean and was equipped with everything we needed and then some. This was our second stay at Maui Sunsets but just in a different room. Will definitely be booking there again!

Beautiful Grounds, Fair Condo

The Maui Sunset is in a good location and the property grounds are beautiful and well maintained. This particular condo though is dated, even though the VRBO listing states it was "tastefully updated (April 2022)." The kitchen seemed to have newer appliances but I couldn't see where any other updates were made. The kitchen is not very well stocked; for example, lack of proper silverware and glassware, i.e. juice and wine glasses. The entire place needs a serious deep cleaning and/or update, in particular the bathrooms, and a good shampooing (or replacement) of the carpeting. The unit lacks comfortable furniture to relax in after a day out and about. The queen sleeper sofa is the only piece of furniture in the living room and it is quite uncomfortable. There is a comfortable outdoor dining table but if the Kihei winds are howling, as they were when we stayed, using this table is not an option. The king bed was comfortable, as were the pillows. We didn't need to use the air conditioning so I can't say how that worked, but we did use the ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom for cooling/air flow. The property manager was wonderful and very quick to respond to any concerns we had.
