Welcome to Sea Monkey and The Mermaid. Our home is a duplex located in Old Town and full of Key West charm. Walk to all the amenities that Old Town has to offer. We are located 5 blocks to Duval and Historic Seaport.

This is the listing to rent the lower unit named The Mermaid. Newly furnished in May 2021. New furniture, new bedding, new linens, fresh paint, new outdoor furniture. Live like a local in this renovated, private, historic Key West home located in the heart of Old Town near the corner of Truman and Frances.

Some of the best restaurants in town are within 2 blocks: Seven Fish, Sandy's, Jose's, El Siboney, Ambrosia, Fausto's Grocery store.

This private duplex offers 2 units, an upper (vrbo # 2333364, also a 2BR, 2BA) and a lower (vrbo # 2331506). This listing is for the lower unit, but both can be rented together. (Please inquire if interested in both units.)

The Mermaid has 2 bedrooms, both with queen beds, and 2 en suite bathrooms, There is a large bar in the kitchen with seating for 4... or enjoy your meals outdoors on the private covered deck with seating for 6. The living area has plenty of seating with all new furniture and a pull-out sofa with a queen bed. There are Smart TV's in the living room and each of the 2 bedrooms. High speed internet is provided.

Want to get out on the beautiful waters surrounding Key West? The Florida Keys are home to the only living coral reef system in the United States and the third largest in the world. Sea Monkey Ocean Adventures offers private trips to snorkel at the reef, cruise around Key West, visit a sandbar, or enjoy a sunset cruise.... or any combination of activities. Please inquire if you have questions about Key West Monthly Vacation rentals. City ordinance requires monthly rentals on most homes, though you can stay for a shorter period if you like. It is often more economical to rent a house for a month than a hotel for a week or two. You have more space, the ability to cook in, and space for family and friends to visit during your stay and share the cost.

Our stay at this beautiful Key West rental exceeded all expectations! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the charm, cleanliness, and attention to detail in every corner of the home. The property was exactly as described (if not better!)—spacious, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. The location is ideal—just a short walk (about 10 minutes) or bike ride to Duval Street, beaches, and great restaurants, yet tucked away in a peaceful neighborhood that gave us a true sense of island relaxation. We loved sipping our morning coffee and tea on the porch and unwinding in the private backyard after a day of exploring. Being able to grill was an added benefit and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils, knives, Keurig, electric kettle, pots/pans etc.The host, Marla, was outstanding—friendly, responsive, and thoughtful. She provided everything we could possibly need for a carefree vacation, including beach towels and chairs/umbrella, and great local recommendations. Also, my husband was able to work there for the entire month, with zero Wi-Fi issues. Additionally, parking was easy!This home truly felt like a private retreat in paradise. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable Key West getaway!

Loved the place

Marla is an amazing host with the perfect amount of hands-off attention to make you feel welcome, cared about, but not supervised. The house was exactly as advertised and the best home away from home for us. We’ll definitely be booking again.

100% completely satisfied with every aspect of this rental. The house had everything needed for a months stay. Access was simple and easy. Didn’t need to contact Marla but had the chance to chat while she stopped to clean up the outside after Tropical Storm Debbie. Family and friends who popped in for a few days throughout the month were impressed with the accommodations. If a months stay is in your future, definitely contact Marla and book it!

Peace in Paradise

Our stay was amazing from the moment we booked. Marla answered every question and need before and after our booking. Her timeliness in answering our needs was amazing. Her place is located at the heart of key west and within walking distance of everything. Great living space and nice lounging are in the back to enjoy some beverages and grill some burgers or steaks! Overall amazing stay, location and host!

We booked this property based on dates available, the description and the photos. Turns out that the description and pics do not do this property the justice it deserves. This is our 13th year to spend October/November in KW and this was hands down the winner of the cleanliness and best decorated award for us! (I only include that because we’ve had more than our share of pooches) Very cute! Everything you’ll possibly need in neatly stored. Nice TV’s and furniture. Outside rear deck is very nice. Very close to Groceries at Fausto’s, World Famous Sandy’s Cafe (great takeout breakfast and burgers) and walking distance to CVS. We walked every day to Duval St and/or Southernmost Point. There’s a Sandy’s food truck at Southernmost along with some really cute little bars. (Try Tipsey Rooster) If you have any needs, Marla is all over it! Great communication within mere minutes. We’d book this again in a heartbeat! Great stay!

Perfect VRBO and Perfect Location.

First time in Key West and staying at a VRBO. Marla, the host was awesome. Prior to booking I had a few questions and Marla got back to me. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Also, this was a great location to get to everywhere we wanted to go in Key West. I would rent this VRBO again in a second.

Extraordinary!

Wonderful stay in Old Town Key West! Centrally located and walking distance to Duval & all Old Town attractions. Superb central air maintains cool indoor temperatures that you exclusively control. All new furnishings and appliances. Has its own washer and drier. Owner is wonderful, welcoming, and replies immediately. Back patio is private with 2 different seating areas, new furnishings and the cutest patio lights. Neighbors are friendly and the area beautiful. We greatly enjoyed our stay and left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and happy after all our KW adventures at this amazing place!
