The location was fantastic! We were able to walk most places that we wanted to go in Key West! The condo and pool were great! We didn’t stay in Alhambra due to deck construction, but the rental company gave us an equivalent condo (Seascape). The only negative was that the property was full of construction materials. It looked like a lot of maintenance was going on, and the materials were all over sometimes in the walkways. Overall, we would definitely stay at Truman Annex again!

Great location

The condo itself was great. The location was perfect for us. The only improvements we believe that are needed would be that the linens, sheets and towels are a little “tired” and need to be upgraded.

Couple of obstacles

On arrival our condo was not clean / ready. However mgt at Compass Realty provided a better option at a different condo, which was a very comfortable stay overall. We would consider using again in future.

Great Stay

the condo is as described. It was clean, the pots and pans were new, the furniture was comfortable. The bedroom is small but manageable. Walking distace to Duval and the Green Parrot Bar.

Great Property Manager

The Truman Annex is quiet and in a great location for a Key West vacation. It’s easy walking distance to restaurants, bars and attractions. The overall place is very large, so the things you are closest to will vary. We had a nice pool and were an easy bike ride to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. The property manager was excellent. Our unit was a long way with luggage from the office. We took a cab to the office from the airport. She took the time to take us to our unit herself, which was really nice on a hot afternoon. Next time, I will take the cab to our unit and one of us stay with the luggage while the other checks in. They also let us stay an extra few hours since our flight was mid-afternoon and no one was checking in right behind us. I will absolutely try to stay with Compass Realty in the future.

Excellent stay

Very nice, clean. Very good location with ten minute walk to Duvall, Whitehead, and Truman Park. I walked about 4-6 miles per day. The unit is well equipped and was as advertised. Marissa from Compass Realty was awesome, and the communication great! Had no problems during stay.

Dirty (Don't waste your money)

The property was a good location, but the condo itself is dirty and run down. We stayed from for 8 days at the end of May 2022. I wish some of these reviews were up before we had booked. The unit is outdated, and very dirty. The towels were stained and I found in the cluttered closets a new set which we used over and over, the washer and dryer did work properly. The sheets had to be washed before we slept in them, the bath tub won't drain and the smoke detector keep beeping. I called the emergency number after hours about the issues, but they stated they couldn't do anything. We were told to take down the detector and put it on the freezer. We only got 2 rolls of TP for the entire week and were told to buy our own. We were also asked to strip the bed and start washing the linens also take out the garbage. Isn't that why you pay a cleaning fee. The green chair should be thrown right in the dumpster and the pillows were like lead. I emailed Compass and never have gotten a response. I did contact VRBO and hopefully I can get some closure there. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ONE. I took photos to prove it which I can't attach. Thankfully we always keep our luggage zipped up.

Property is dated but pictures in VRBO showed exactly that. No surprises. And we felt the cost of the rental reflected that as well. Everything we needed was provided. Location was great. Grounds were nicely kept. We be headed back again.

Not good

The location of the Truman Annex is great but this property, not so much. All of the furniture is very old and very dirty. We lived out of suitcases for the week because I wouldn't put clothes in any drawers - they were so disgusting. I put towels on the couch and chairs because they were so stained. All of the closets are stuffed full of weird things that have been collected over the years - looked like a Hoarders episode. The provided "beach" towels looked like the leftovers at the lost and found - old, stained and dirty. The bed takes up the entire room so you can only access it from one side. We tried to spend as little time in this unit as possible - it was basically terrible.

Never Again!

Bedroom is way too small for the bed. You can't move. Can't get in the bed. The porch light doesn't go off and shines in the bedroom like daylight. Ther is no room on the bedroom for clothing or luggage. There was mold growing on the whole ceiling of the closet inside the front door. The toaster oven in the kitchen was disgusting as was the dish drain and especially the silverware drain cup. The lighting in the tiny bathroom is horrible. There's nowhere to put anything. The drains have no covers on them. There were small gnat like bugs flying all around in the bathroom and kitchen.

Key West during Covid

Very nice a bedroom converted to living space and large outside living area for dining and sunbathing! Also beach chairs, umbrella and cooler for the beaches. Easy short walk to the Truman park for sunsets and away from the Covid crowds at Mallory Sq.! Also Zackary Taylor Park and beach very close.

convenient and safe

First time to Key West. I would recommend shipyard condominiums. A few blocks away from many of the popular things to do. Felt very safe being a gated community. Clean, comfortable bed and living room furniture, kitchen has everything you need if you plan on cooking. Pool is nice too. Has a deck in the back, very pleasant. You can't go wrong staying here, definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to stay.
