If you want a night of good sleep this isn’t the place; you’ll listen to your upstairs neighbors all day even when they’re just talking and don’t get me started on when they walk, use the restroom, etc. The space definitely needs some improvement, doors, paint and other things look very old and it also wasn’t as clean as I’d expect. The view though is good and the access to the pathway that goes all the way in front of the ocean for miles is very convenient.

Beach view was good. Great walking path right by the property. Kitchen was well stocked. Husband loved that they provided binoculars to watch the boats coming in. The only recommendation I would have is that they have two loungers on the lanai.

First the positives: Great location and view from the condo lanai, kitchen was very well stocked. Not so good: We weren’t impressed with the cleaning (very dirty under furniture) and bugs (they do mention this in their listing) but they did have an exterminator come in to fix the gap under the door (helps tremendously) and place roach traps. Windows in bedroom also need new locks (vs a stick) to keep people from entering through them. Overall, decent 7/10 place but need some attention to the place to get it to 10/10 and worth the money we paid. Just being honest….

Best view money can buy

The view was breathtaking. The condo was well decorated, stocked and comfortable. I spent a lot of time sitting at the table on the lanai listening and watching the waves. The property is lovely with a lot of activities. The pool was fabulous. We would definitely stay here again!! Mahalo!

Excellent Location, nice unit (but hear every step in the unit above) poor support for multiple issu

Overall I would rate:Resort 8 out of 10The unit 7 out of 10Vacassa 3 out of 10The issues were:1. Inadequate noise insulation (hear every step from above).2. We were treated as second class citizens at the pool. Pool towels are available for "guests". We however were considered owners and thus had to bring towels from the unit.3. Clearly cleaning costs are built into the rate. If the average stay is 5 days, the cost to clean every five days is built into the rate. Yet we had a three week stay and had to pay for the two cleanings we needed.4. There are two beach umbrellas in the unit. The one we took on our first beach day had a broken spoke which adveresely impactated that beach day. The second beach umbrella is fine.5. We had to purchase beach chairs. The ones in the unit seated you too close to the ground (about 2 inches) for us to use them.6. No safe in the unit7. Support for resolving issues is VERY DIFFICULT. The chat refers everyting to "the local team" who is not responsive.

Beautiful Ocean View Condo

Stunning views, saw whales from the deck every day, access to walking/riding path, and walking to restaurants a few blocks away. Perfect low-key vacation in Kapaa!!

First time on Kauai

We loved the suite. Seeing the sunrise every morning was wonderful. The suite was fantastic. Everything virtually new. Nice furniture, great shower, great bed. I’d recommend this suite to anyone.

One negative

The complex is great with good guest services and plenty of amenities. The condo itself is perfect! It is in a great location; walking distance to restaurants, bars, grocery stores, etc. and the view is everything! Watching the sunrise was amazing! It is updated, clean and well appointed with a lot of little extras (beach equipment, laundry pods, ponchos, etc.) The only negative it that it is on the second floor of a three story building. Unfortunately, the family above us was very loud, which made sleeping in or having a quiet evening difficult.

Good location and great amenities

This place is spacious, most complete amenities I have had to this day (and I have stayed in a lot of places). It’s so complete and provided for you that you barely have to purchase anything but your food. The only problem was the 10 digit code (not over exaggerating) you have to punch into the tiny key pad after each time you enter the home. When your hands are full and you have to dig out the phone, your glasses just to find the code. If you mispunch one number you have to start all over again. It is the most inconvenient. There is a separate key card for the hot tub pool area and this is staffed for pool towels and chair massage which is awesome!

Awesome views of the sunrise

We enjoyed our stay - especially the views of the sunrise from the balcony. Kitchen was well stocked, comfortable bed, beach chairs and boogie boards made this a wonderful getaway. I would suggest stating in the welcome email that you are supposed to check in at the registration desk in order to get a pool key with access to the laundry room. Other than that, everything was great!

A lovely Oceanfront Getaway

My wife and I choose this spot for a two-week getaway to celebrate our 40th. We come to the islands about every 5 years and our stay in Kapa'a kindled many fond memories. We loved the location of our condo, which afforded us a perfect view of sunrises over the Pacific, and was a short walk to everything convenient. We found our apartment to be very clean, with thoughtful supplies of towels, linens, and kitchen items that made us feel right at home. I suppose my only peevish peccadillo has to do with a couple of our neighbors whose fondness for smoking marijuana on their balcony, along with apparently rearranging furniture after hours made for a couple of unpleasant evenings. That said, all in all we very much enjoyed this lovely oceanfront and getaway.

Amazing vacation!

Pono Kai is ideally placed near the historic downtown of Kappa with restaurants and shopping nearby. We loved being right on the biking/walking path and used it every day. This unit has a large balcony facing the ocean. Sun rises and moon rises are both beautiful from here. The unit is comfortable and well stocked with beach chairs, boogie boards, etc. Kitchen is nice too. Highly recommend!

Best sunrises!

Absolute best place to stay esp on our Honeymoon. We will look here 1st when we are ready for a return visit. Clean, tons of amenities, right at the end on the path, we couldn't have had a more comfortable stay. Everything was easy going. I like the location as well as we planned days to be North and South on the Island. 10/10. We loved it here.

Very clean, spacious, comfortable 1 bedroom with great ocean views. Nicely furnished unit with well equipped kitchen & owners seemed to have thought of everything you might need for a great stay - beach towels, chairs, etc. Very convenient location & well-managed property. We'd love to go back!

Great Sunrise

I have stayed at many condos at Pono Kai and this one is by far the best thus far! We woke up every morning enjoying our coffee and watching the beautiful sunrises from the lanai. The kitchen has everything and then some! The beach chairs, ice chests, and beach toys were a plus as well. Thank you for providing such a welcoming place to stay

Overall really great rental

Awesome location, central to traveling the island. Beautiful view from the lanai. This unit looks the it has been remodeled, nicely done, everything looked and felt clean. Kitchen was nicely stocked, even had a few staples like some salt, pepper, sugar etc. We were greeted with a very thoughtful welcome gift when we arrived. Pineapple, some coffee, some candy, even a shell like lei. The reason I am giving a 4/5 is the pool area. Very small, photos felt a bit misleading. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

Lovely Ocean View and Connection to Community

Pros: Ocean View, darkened room to sleep, renovated kitchen and bathroom, access to AC, welcome gift upon arrival, consistent updates by host, easy check-in process, on the beach front (non-swimming), night strolls, walk to the: beach, main road, coffee spots/cafes, restaurants, and shops! Diversity of people as well which felt great and inclusive :) It is in an area that is quite central and not too busy where it's annoying to get some quiet as things close fairly early at night. Speak to those that work at the shops or food spots and you'll get recommendations from hiking/kayaking to the best spots to eat/swim. Be friendly to those around you and get the same kindness in retrun! Wave to those walking by while sitting on the balcony to experience a warmful stay :) Cons: You can hear your neighbors upstairs, on the walkway, or next door. You are in close quarters to others also vacationing, but all neighbors were fine. Only mentioning this if you want total silence throughout the day. It was quiet at night though! It didn't bother us because we were not there to lounge all day inside :) It was quiet while we slept and neighbors seemed respectful (no loud parties). We enjoyed our stay here in Kapa'a after spending 6 nights in Princeville. A different feel from the quiet resorts and high-end vibes of Princeville. We enjoyed getting to know those in the area and get a more local, everyday vibe of Kauai.
