Relax in the privacy of your Hawaiian “estate”, located at the highly desired end of Puako Beach Drive in one of the most unique beach communities on the Big Island. Puako is an iconic and vibrant seaside enclave that is both in very close proximity to the most acclaimed luxury resorts on the Big Island’s famed “gold coast”--while being nestled away from all the hustle and bustle. Time truly stands still in this dreamy slice of upscale vintage Hawaii charm, offering the opportunity to explore the extensive Puako reef and tidepools just footsteps from your door, swim in some of the best ocean swimming holes of all of the Big Island, or wander along the shoreline trails that easily connect you to Mauna Lani resort, or the nearby Paniau shoreline, a popular and much sought-after surf and dive spot. Comfortable and well-appointed, the home is breezy, airy, full of natural light, an open floor plan that encourages interaction, and an oceanfront lanai that can be accessed from all communal living spaces and the master bedroom. Directly opposite of the lanai and through large sliding glass pocket doors that let you “bring the outside in”, one is afforded a view of the courtyard pool, and a lush tropically landscaped environment allows you to simultaneously enjoy the sights and scenery of the ocean, while still being in the midst of all activity within the household. The modern kitchen is spacious and stocked with thoughtful touches that make meal preparation and entertaining a chef’s dream. There are multiple dining area options and seating arrangements throughout the home to create truly special gathering spots for meals, table games, or just general socialization. The open concept living room and dining room feature finely crafted furniture made from exotic tropical woods, a wet bar and wine refrigerator, along with a variety of media options. Bedrooms feature en suite bathrooms and are situated away from central activity areas for maximum privacy and quietude. Two outdoor showers feature copper rain heads and lava rock walls —a distinctly Hawaiian and Big Island feature.

Hands down one of the best properties we have stayed at. Very open concept with the doors and windows to enjoy that Hawaiian breeze. Well stocked house in the kitchen and beach supplies in the garage. Loved the little path down to the ocean front. We loved walking out on the lava rock checking out the tide pools and we see multiple turtles, usually at night. Great quiet location close to the end of the road.

We loved our stay! Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves was magical. The backyard felt like a mini sea world—we saw turtles daily, exotic fish, eels, and even a puffer fish during high tide. The house was comfortable and well appointed. The host was welcoming and responsive .

This was a nicely appointed spacious house with a beautiful lawn and direct access to the lava shore! We saw turtles everyday on the lava. The host was gracious and very responsive. Great stay!

The property is gorgeous, due to its location on the sea, its seclusion away from the large developments as well as the high quality of its equipment. Gregg was very responsive to our questions. Sadly, only one guest room is equipped with A/C. It is insufficient in the summer time. The beautiful master bedroom and the other guest room should definitely be equiped as well.

Paradise in Puako

Our family spent an incredible week at this beautiful property. Very private and beautiful setting. Owners were very communicative and helpful before we arrived. The kitchen was well appointed, and we took advantage of many of the recommendations left for us in the "Guest Book". This is a special place, and we felt the love and care of the family who shared with us. We hope to be back soon.

Magical Hawaii

Here with a best friend who had never been to Hawaii. This rental was as nice as it ever could get, Magical and wowed. I wish all the bedrooms could have beach front views, but all rooms were nice-especially the living areas—stunning. I would totally rent again. This house is an oasis. Mahalo

Clean and beautiful, amazing intimate and private location. The house is very comfortable and feels so cozy. The location is unbeatable There are some snorkelers from a tour boat for a couple hours during the afternoon but very minor.

perfect puako

we had a lovely stay here on puako. we are avid snorkelers and enjoyed the close proximity (two houses away) to easy water access. the home is beautifully appointed with an especially well stocked kitchen—you will not want for any cooking utensils. the layout provided our family of five with plenty of space to come together or have quiet space to yourself. if you are coming in the summer months, be prepared for the hot weather. holly, the property manager was close by and readily available for any needs we might have. all in all, a lovely stay. thank you.

How Soon Can We Return?

It was our first time visiting the Big Island. My husband and I loved being away from the major tourist areas like Kona, especially after coming from Maui. The house layout worked great for our family of 5. Our 13yo enjoyed staying in the room detached from the house. Everyone used the 2 outdoor showers bc you have total privacy, even though there are neighbors on each side and people that have access to the rocks/beach behind the house. Even though we visited the bigger/popular beaches, the kids enjoyed the beaches/tide pools right behind the house where we saw many turtles and the waves weren’t too strong to snorkel. The house is stocked with beach toys, bodyboards, chairs, umbrellas, coolers to borrow. It was great to be able to use washer/dryers. We have stayed at some incredible beach resorts and rentals, but the view and access to the ocean does not compare! Being able to fall asleep and wake up listening to the ocean in your backyard is unbelievable. We didn’t see any whales from the backyard, but we were told you can. If it was easier to come from Texas, we would love to return to this island and specifically this rental annually. For now we just hope to come back one day!

Beautiful Stay!

Our family of four stayed at this home for a week. Everything about the property is lovely! Amazing location, terrific kitchen to cook, great area to lounge. Puako is a delightful neighborhood. This home is clean and spacious and the hosts are easy to get a hold of if you need them. We did not want to leave and we would definitely return.

Great stay

My family and I (husband and 3 kids) had a wonderful stay. It was so peaceful and beautiful. We did lots while doing nothing. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. There is a small general store in the same road, which was convenient. There are multiple public access points to the ocean, if you want sand. We got to see sea turtles multiple times right off the back yard, which was a dream come true. Definitely recommend staying here.

The best of the Big Island in a house.

We have three teenagers from 13 to 18 years old. The two youngest bunked together in the office bedroom and the oldest in the attached queen room (with its own entrance and AC). We had the master, and everyone was happy. The pool and outdoor showers were also crucial to everyone’s happiness—we swam daily, several times a day. Even in beach days. Especially on beach days! The house is as well appointed as it gets. Everything is labeled, and the management is super responsive without being intrusive. In short, we had the best time and definitely hope to return.
