Sunsets are great!

Nice location. Unit was a bit run down. We had no hot water in the kitchen sink and bathroom shower for two days until repairs were made. Kitchen was poorly equipped (no kettle for hot water, no vegetable peeler, no salad bowl forks, a very old coffee maker with a broken coffee pot lid, etc. ). Water came under the front door when it rained.

Unit was Nice & had an Oceanfront view but requested & a must for us to have A/C especially staying in Kona & upon reserving this unit was told A/C is available & in working condition but A/C does not & is not available for this unit... Property managemant & front desk fixed that issue right away & put us in another upgraded/remolded beautiful oceanfront view unit that was Amazing!!! & wth A/C, Overall Perfect!!! Mahalo! Great View

The property was as pictured but the description indicates a pull-out sofa in the living room. However, that is not the case. We stayed for 7 nights and only received one set of towels per person. There was an issue with no hot water in the main bathroom shower and the sliding doors didn't lock. We reported to the property manager, so hopefully both will be repaired. Overall it's a great location with a beautiful view!

Amazing property

My family enjoyed a week's stay at this beautiful ocean front condo. The place was perfect for us and the rooms were spacious, clean, nicely decorated and the beds very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking essentials and newer appliances. We also greatly appreciated having the use of the ice chest, boogie boards, beach chair and extra snorkel gear for our daily outings. We stayed in October, which we were told is one of the warmer months, however, we did not purchase the A/C. The front desk staff were kind enough to bring an extra upright fan which is all we needed. The views, grounds and pools are all gorgeous and we hope to visit again. It was truly a wonderful place to stay and we hated to leave. Mahalo!

Wonderful location! Mattresses in 2nd bedroom quite firm. The only negative is unit could have used a touch-up cleaning prior to arrival. Seemed like it was cleaned and then sat for awhile. Would definitely recommend and someday will return!

Very poor experience

We were so excited for our vacation at the place initially since it is near to the ocean but it didn’t last for long. Two days before our visit they mentioned that the air conditioning was not working and we faced a lot of trouble without having it during our stay. As we were near to the ocean, there was so much humidity and air conditioning is always better to have. The floor is so sticky and not clean. Refrigerator doesn’t work properly too. Except for the ocean view, very terrible experience.

Beautiful view

This property is located halfway between Kailua-Kona and Captain Cook. The condo has plenty of space and pretty updated. We did purchase the A/C in advance (definitely worth the money). Our flight was really delayed and we arrived well after check in hours. They close at 5:00. The A/C did not work the first night, but we survived with the ample fans throughout. Maintenance did a great job fixing the A/C the next day and then it worked great the rest of our stay. The bathrooms and kitchen are nice and had what we needed. There is a drip coffee maker. The view is incredible. We spent breakfast and evenings when we were home enjoying the ocean view. There are three pools, including one with an ocean view. The front desk was kind and helpful. In order to avoid ants, keep all of your food in the fridge or cabinets and wipe down the counters. I would recommend staying here with the A/C.

Comfortable oceanfront

This is a nice rental. Our main feedback for management is we would hope for more advance checkin instructions- it’s very stressful to have a place booked and then no idea what to expect on arrival till the last minute. Especially when we were arriving after hours! Future renters should know there is 24 hour security that can help but we were not certain how we would get in so we were nervous until the instructions came through. We were disappointed that for the very steep price, AC is an additional daily charge- it was very hot when we arrived and we slept badly the first night because of it. Honestly though, AC is probably not usually necessary for this unit due to the strong breeze- the unit cooled out by morning and we were comfortable without AC the rest of our stay. The set up was comfortable and location amazing right on the water. It has good staples like fins, buggy boards, coolers for day use. Pools and grounds are well maintained. Staff was friendly. This is the downstairs unit and we had a loud guest above us on the lanai, but only noticed this one night. Other that that is was very peaceful, really wonderful location, and a great stay. Mahalo!

Great location

The location of the condo at the south end of Kona and being oceanfront was wonderful. The pictures are accurate and the space is really lovely, comfortable, and clean. The local artwork is a great touch! The beds are comfortable too. It was an incredible treat to wake up and see the sunrise light up the waves and hear the surf against the rocks. Evenings were even nicer, sitting on the lanai watching the sunset. the complex is quiet too and the amenities like the pools and tennis courts were well kept. The landscaping is also beautiful, we had plumeria trees blooming as we walked to the front door. While this unit does not have AC, ceiling fans and windows did a fine job moving the air around and keeping the unit fresh and cool. As with any place in Hawaii, bugs are a challenge. The kitchen had a few issues with tiny ants. We quickly learned to keep all food in the cupboards or refrigerator, even fruit, and thoroughly clean the counters throughout the day. The Dryer is broken and needs repair. The master bath is handicap accessible which is great, but it could use some maintenance on the bench seat due to the salt air and mineral rich water. Despite these few issues, I would return to this condo again and again, it is just beautiful!

Great location

We have two teenagers and this was a great location for our family. The shared spaces (pools) are really nice. We had some issues with check-in and the place not being ready (we checked in late at night so had to deal) but they were quick to rectify the next day.

Great accommodations, great location

This location and property were perfect for our first trip to the big island. Right on the water watching the waves crash on the lava rocks while we had breakfast, sipped our coffee on the patio and planned our day. Everything was just incredible. We will stay here again next time if available.

The view was as advertised

The view in this condo is nothing short of amazing. If you stay on the deck, you will be very pleased. The rest of the unit really needs work. The condo could use a good deep clean, there were areas that made us very uncomfortable with how dirty they were. There were ants all over the kitchen when we got there and several areas hadn’t been cleaned prior to our arrival. If you check in after 5 pm, you will not have access to the air conditioning and the condo can get very warm. You need a key to turn the unit on and you have to pay for the air by the day so be aware. We never received updates or info from the complex after our reservation was made like we did from the other places we booked on VRBO. The communication was poor overall. I had to reach out to them regarding payments and with questions on what they needed due to COVID restrictions. Upon check-in, I was asked to provide things they told me I didn’t need to worry about before they would give me gates keys and the air conditioning keys. I would not stay here again and it’s a shame because the area is spectacular.

Amazing view & quiet

This complex is located off Alii Drive so it's convenient without the noise. We stayed in an oceanfront unit & it was amazing. You can't get any closer. AC is available for added price but worth it. Unit had beach towels, ice chest, beach toys. The complex is gated. The oceanfront pool has a great view. Grocery & Long's drug store is up the road- 3 minute drive. The touristy part of Alii Drive about 15 minutes drive. There's Safeway, Target & Costco all between 20 - 30 minute drive. Condo unit was clean & TV had Netflix etc....

Amazing Place to Vacation

We were so sad to leave this AMAZING place. What a piece of heaven. The entire unit is so tastefully decorated! The view was spectacular and the condo was so bright and airy. We will definitely be back.

Perfect Place to Stay

We loved our stay in unit 2002 at Kanaloa at Kona. We have stayed in several units on that property before and it's definitely a favorite when on the Big Island. Previous reviews mention an outdated oven/stove that has been replaced and works great. We cooked all our meals in and felt the condo was well supplied with everything we needed. It is also stocked with beach chairs, boogie boards and coolers which is always nice. The privacy and views at this particular unit are stellar! Being March we saw a lot of whale activity from the lanai, spinner dolphins were spotted as well. It's a short walk to the Sheraton at night to view the manta rays also. Our only suggestion and in no way did it effect our stay was there is a nice Bosch dishwasher in the unit but it is in desperate need of a rinse aid. We opted to hand wash the dishes because the dishwasher looked a little rough. Again though this was just a personal preference and in no way hindered our stay. Great unit! Would definitely stay there again!

Very nice stay

This is a lovely spacious condo. It has been renovated and was spotless. The view of the ocean is wonderful. It has everything you will need. Very much enjoyed our stay. Just one note for potential renters: if you are looking for the name of the internet network and the password, it is taped to the Apple TV device on the shelf under the TV in the master BR. It was a bit hard to find at first, so we thought we would pass on this tip.

Fantastic location and comfortable accommodations

A very nice condo with a spectacular location overlooking the Pacific. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai watching the whales and sunsets. The condo was very clean and comfortable with all of the amenities you will need for your stay on The Big Island.

This property was a great location. Really nice with two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. Binoculars, boogie boards, beach chairs, towels, etc. were supplied. Cupboards were loaded with dishes, utensils, dishwasher and clothes soaps. Washer and dryer and dishwasher worked well. The lower rating for cleanliness was for a general dustiness over the kitchen counters and appliances. It didn't seem unclean other than dust. The lower rating for accuracy of online listing was for the final cost. The property had a per night price;however, at checkout resort fees, cleaning fees, and taxes doubled the cost. This was my first time booking through VRBO and possibly I didn't understand that this is common. Also, we only stayed two nights, and those fees would be diminished over a longer stay. Both families that stayed here wished that we had booked the unit for a longer time.
