I tried this hotel based on their feature in Travel + Leisure -- but to be honest it is a over-marketed.
The good: most of the balcony rooms have riverfront views. As there were no balcony rooms available for our dates, we opted for the Laurel room as it was advertised as having river views. Unfortunately this really was a river-to-the-side-of-the-window-view that was mostly obscured by trees and the property next door, and it was along the walkway to the next room, so we had to keep our curtains closed most of the time. I woke up in the morning and jumped at finding someone standing right outside our window. I wish the hotel was more upfront about this, as had we known this, we would have booked for another room at another date.
The rooms are freshly painted and decorated, but still seem to be the old ones from when it was another inn.
Rooms were clean, although I did need to clean the coffee cup as I found a sticky ring of coffee inside -- a small detail that is a major miss for any place in the hospitality business.
The "Redwood Social" was locked and dark the entire stay, and I did not see any staff during our entire stay except at checkout.
Would I stay here again? Yes, if I wanted the riverfront views -- but also lowering my expectations that this wouldn't be the boutique hotel-type stay being advertised, but more akin to a mid-range Airbnb-type experience.
