Perfect place for a stay in the town - right next to the harbour - yes there was noise from the road but it’s an active harbour so what would you expect - good food options in the area and pubs nice

Great room with lovely seating area in the middle of Ilfracombe. Carparking handy and cheap. Lots to do and see. Just one problem with the gutter outside the room leaking with heavy rain and very noisy. A part from that, perfect, with Woolacombe bay surfing just 15mins down the road.

This is a good, reliable, clean, budget place to stay. We used it when walking Stage 4 of the SW Coast Path - very convenient. Easy to park round the corner at Ropery Road car park. Hearty breakfast available (actually at sister hotel, The Royal Britannia Hotel opposite) overlooking the harbour. We had a fantastic meal at 'Giovanni and Luca' Italian restaurant nearby (booking essential in summer).

Clean room, nice views. Check in was smooth. Lots of stairs up to the room but we knew that when booking. Would stay again as it’s good value for money.

Great location but very basic facilities and pretty dirty especially the outside of the toilet bowl which clearly hadnt been cleaned for weeks or months. Clear retraining clearly necessary. Bar are in The Britannia (where you go for brealfast) opposite was grubby.

Room was OK, basic and functional. Wooden floors throughout, meant that there was much noise from other rooms and the landing. Mostly due the fact that a school group of maybe 12-13 year old boys were staying.

On arrival, my wife went to use the toilet and discovered faeces on the seat and pan. We checked the bedding to find the mattress protector with blood and other bodily fluid stains. The lady who then deep cleaned the room did a great job, but explained that she couldn't change the mattress protector, it was changed weekly. I believe that company policy should state that in the event of it being soiled, it should be changed immediately. On our last night, the fire alarm sounded at about 1:30 am. Our biggest concern was that nobody else seemed to be aware of it. The receptionist/night manager was oblivious, despite visible screens to monitor the accommodation. He didn't know how to operate the buildings control panel. It would appear to have been an electrical fault, but we had a very uneasy nights sleep and were keen to depart at dawn. The barmaid who was subsequently tasked with performing a deep clean of the room was very helpful and did her very best under the circumstances. The receptionist/night manager could do with incident training to manage what could have been a very serious incident. Do not think there is free parking available. Parking is £15 for 24 hours. We used the Larkstone Lane car park at £7 for 24 hours, which took us past the excellent Lime Kiln Cafe. There is some free street parking if you can find it, but good luck finding it near the hotel. Ilfracombe is a lovely place with excellent walks and hiking opportunities and surprisingly quiet for mid July.

Harbour Lights was an experience we will never forget! Kyle at reception was beyond helpful, writing a lengthy list of attractions, ensuring we had a suitable room and switched us to their sister hotel The Royal Britannia. John was also amazing sharing some local favourites and chatting away each time we crossed paths. Our room and ensuite was huge and beautiful, with a large bay window and seating overlooking the harbour. The restaurant downstairs had amazing barkeeps that smiled and chatted friendly each time we requested a jug of ice to chill our drinks. Bed was comfortable, room was clean with access to fresh towels and linens whenever needed. 11/10 will HIGHLY recommend to anyone!

The room was as expected. Good location and views. Had researched this so knew parking was nearby which was fine. Obviously recently refurbished but it must have been on a tight budget. Everything seemed to be done cheaply and not very well. Disappointed that the decor didn’t do justice to such a historic building

Excellent location right in the most scenic area

I stood at this family guesthouse for four nights when travelling on business in the area during May-June. The rooms are all upstairs, tidy neat, well-lighted and nicely decorated. You enter by their restaurant which, by the way, has very tasty seafood platters every day made by chef Steve, who also prepares an excellent English breakfast every morning. Although there appears to be no A/C, only heater, it's not needed because you are right next to the bay which provided very comfortable weather, at least while I was there. My room had a small balcony from which you dominate Quay St and the pier area. Ms Ruth was very happy to recommend me a parking spot just in front of the house. Having been at Ilfracombe's other guesthouses when visiting several times in last 5 years, this one is one of the bests. Would definitively stay here again if visiting with my family.
