"The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the staff extremely helpful. We loved our stay and would particularly recommend the breakfast!"

"The bathroom was dirty, clearly had not been cleaned properly in some time, there was hair all over the floor, dirt build up around the shower tray and shower itself. Windows were also very dirty. The breakfast bag is not worth it as it’s not ready to go you have to wait 10mins for the hot part!"

"The room was super comfortable. But there was a cold spell! When I asked for more heat they responded immediately and I was given an electric heater that worked great. Very much appreciated. The walls are thin and noise in adjacent rooms or above is pretty loud. try for a top floor room or in the back!"

"Beautiful guest house …very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful rooms, lovely and clean, with mini bar …and they little details in the rooms like Disaronno liquor ….a little Italian restaurant situated downstairs. Maldon is a beautiful village, with little shops and restaurants just around the corner, I would also highly recommend Mrs Salisburys for food & service too which is just around the corner on the high street. Parking is also available. "

"Hmm. The room was fine, and in a good location. The blinds aren’t great, though, and let in a lot of light. However, what has caused me to give it a poor score is, I’d been to a funeral the day before and was looking forward to a lie in before my long drive home. Imagine my annoyance, then, when the cleaner tried to get into my room at 7am and of course woke me up. The only thing I wanted was a good night’s sleep and The Ship failed me. I reckon Greene King should refund me."

"Do not book here. I booked 10 months in advance and when we arrived they couldn’t find my booking. Given a room on 2nd floor, in direct sunlight so it was like a sauna, but they did give us a fan. Arrived back at midnight to find gates closed and locked. Had to call someone to unlock the gate and let us in. Next morning tried to use the shower and wouldn’t work, then tried the was basin and no water. When I mentioned the shower at checkout, they knew about it and said we should have been...

"Everything was lovely and the front staff so very helpful. The only thing I would say about was the sound on the TV it was very muffled all the time no matter what we put it up to. We liked it so much we booked another night. I DO NOT AGREE WITH The extra PAYMENT FOR PARKING. @£8.00 Per night. Thank you. Teresa Dobinson."

"Lovely, interesting old building in a very good location. Given the age of the hotel there are the inevitable uneven floors and slightly steep stairs. The free parking at the rear of the hotel is a real bonus. Our room was comfortable, well equipped and pleasantly decorated. The breakfasts were consistently good but sadly the hotel does not provide evening meals. All the staff were cheerful and very helpful. We would definitely stay here again."
