Come see why they say “Life is better at the lake!” Enjoy a relaxing stay at this quaint home with beautiful wide water and mountain views and a gently sloping lot. Cuddle up by the wood-burning fireplace. Or get some fresh air on the open deck and large screened porch with ceiling fans, comfy seating, and outdoor dining furniture overlooking the lake. The property has a fabulous dock with built-in bench seating for you to enjoy the view. Enjoy exploring the lake on the canoe with provided life jackets. The main level of the home is bright, open and airy with a beamed 15’ cathedral ceiling, open to a cozy family room, dining room, and kitchen. Down the hall you’ll find 3 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. The basement, though separate from the main level, has foosball, TV, and a washer & dryer. Basement also has a second full bathroom (partially finished!) perfect for cleaning off after a day in the lake!

Large covered dock w/ floater, perfect to tie up your personal or rental boat (covered slip & hoist not available for tenant use) and electricity.

Central A/C, Washer/Dryer, Gas Grill, blender, coffee maker, dishwasher 2 Queen beds, 2 Bunk Beds, queen air mattress, 1 queen sleeper sofa (available in the partially finished basement)

Enjoy cocktails while watching the sunset or making S’mores after dark in the comfortable Adirondack chairs surrounding the new fire pit down by the water.

The home is in a quiet, shaded, older neighborhood, perfect for walking & jogging. Lake location is supreme, being near the mountain and the dam at the deepest, and cleanest part of the lake. The quiet, protected cove is very safe for canoeing and waterplay around the dock. We’re conveniently located a half mile from Mitchell's Point Marina and SML water sports and boat rentals.

**RENTALS ARE 3 NIGHT MINIMUMS MEMORIAL DAY THROUGH LABOR DAY. TWO NIGHT MINIMUM ALL OTHER TIMES. PRICING VARIES BASED ON PEAK SEASON, OFF-PEAK, AND HOLIDAYS

-HOMEAWAY RESERVATION FEE (varies)

-REFUNDABLE DAMAGE DEPOSIT $200.00 (refunded one week after check-out, assuming no damage)

Items to bring: LINENS (towels, wash cloths, sheets, pillow cases, blankets) trash bags, paper goods (toilet tissue, paper towels), detergent (dish & laundry) flashlight.

Items NOT to bring: Worries & stress.

CANCELLATION POLICY: 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date. 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date. Cancellations within 14 days of check-in will not receive a refund.

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: No one under the age of 25 may make a reservation. There must be one adult at least 25 years of age occupying the property. That qualifying person must provide payment via credit card for the rental deposit and is responsible for the leased property.

The view from the screened in porch is beautiful. The dock with plenty of seating was very nice. Easy access to the beach was wonderful. There were many repairs when we were there that needed attention. The couch and chairs in the picture had been switched out for a couch very old and uncomfortable. The basement was uninviting to sleep or hang out.

Overall wonderful. It appears the cleaning was surface and possibly rushed. found a vaping device under a couch cushion, and dust in the bathroom on the toilet tank. vacuum cleaner overheated 10 minutes into using it. pots for cooking not the best, thankfully, my son-in-law's parents live nearby (didn't know this before renting so really nice surprise) so I was able to secure a griddle and cast iron frying pan. I believe the one smoke detector I could find wasn't working.

It clean. There were no linens, the owner warned us about 2 hours down the road. There was only one bathroom inside. The furniture was worn and out -dated . the deck and the lake were beautiful and with our little family there we had a great time, no thanks to the lodging. I used to own a rental vacation house so I kinda know what to expect. I had to apologize all weekend, because of the accomanations. Never again

Beautiful Views and Great Water Access

What a little treasure this cottage is! Amazing views of the mountains and lake with great water access. Pros: Scenic views, walk-in water access (great for kids/dogs), water toys (2 kayaks, 2 SUPs, 1 canoe), lovely dock to lounge on (plenty of seating with hammocks, outdoor table, polywood chairs), firepit great for s'mores, foosball table in the basement (a hit with the kids), stocked kitchen with items you need (crock pot and the basics), beautiful vaulted ceilings in living room, enjoyable screened-in porch, extra large couch and dining table for larger families, lovely [newer] sliding doors to porch - the list goes on. Cons: Main bathroom was a bit tiny and dated, basement bathroom was a no-go for my crew, spiderwebs were excessive (a quick broom sweep helped clear it up for our stay though), campfire chairs were sun-dried and brittle, basement appears to be a work in progress, grocery store was a bit far (plan ahead and you are fine!). All in all, it was a great stay and I would recommend! You simply cannot beat those views and being located on a quiet cove on the lake. Truly a gem!

Loved our stay at SML

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here with our dog. The beachfront access is hard to find for our senior dog to enter the water & swim. The house was spacious enough for us with the large sectional & roomy screened porch area. The shower was a bit small but otherwise the house was a nice. The water levels changed quite a bit before & after the rainfall but ultimately our time here was awesome and the place was a relaxing getaway.

Another wonderful stay

Another great stay at “Lake living at its finest!” This sweet little cottage was perfect for our end of summer SML visit. Our favorite spot (next to the awesome wide lake view from dock) was the cozy screen porch-from morning coffee, lunch, to wine-time and dinner- this was our go-to indoor space. Can’t wait to return.

Fantastic home

The home includes use of canoe, 2 kayaks and 2 paddle boards. We had our teens and some teen friends, which this house was perfect for. The dock is perfect to swim off of. We rented a boat for the week from Parrot Cove (most affordable option) and easily pulled up and tied to the dock. The owner was responsive to small questions. Kitchen has a crock pot and griddle. Grill is propane. All of these little things made our packing lighter and our days more enjoyable.

Book This Listing For Pure Enjoyment

My family and I have stayed at various locations throughout Smith Mountain Lake and this lake house quickly became our home. All the amenities were as described and access to this quiet area of the lake was perfect. Great mountain and lake views and enough relaxing fun for the entire family. Book early!

Great space!

We loved the cozy living room and amazing screen porch. There was plenty of space for our two young kids, us, and my sister! There was a huge and super comfy sectional sofa and a great fireplace that we made an awesome fire in with the firewood that the hosts left for us. We had a great time hanging out in the house since it rained most of the weekend and was pretty cold. When it did clear up a little, the view from the dock was gorgeous! Had we not had two small children and our dog running around threatening to go swimming when they didn't have the skills, and if it hadn't been raining, it would have been the place we hung out the most probably. It was set up for hanging out, with adirondack chairs and hammocks and a table for eating and playing games. Turns out, however, that the screen porch was a better fit for our chaos:) We also really enjoyed playing fusbol in the basement room. Plus they had a pack n play for our 1 year old so we didn't have to pack our own! One thing we did miss was that we had to provide our own linens, so we totally forgot that, but the owner was amazing and kind enough to let us borrow a set that they had and wash them in their washing machine. And he was incredibly responsive to all of our needs!! Soooo I'll leave you with this, don't forget your towels and sheets!!!!!!!!

Introducing our Lab to SML

This house exceeded our expectations. I say this reluctantly and at the risk that it will be booked up the next time we want to visit-and there will DEFINITELY be a NEXT TIME! I have been visiting (mostly day trips) SML all my life. LLAIF reminded me of how sweet this lake was in the early days before all the multi-million $$$ “castles” started springing up. The neighborhood was quiet, wooded, and perfect for walking our dog. This was our first visit with our Lab and this house was definitely the place for his introduction to SML. Nice cove right off main channel with spectacular long water view and a easy entry into the water for our dog. The house was nicer than I had anticipated being that it was “dog friendly.”-very comfortable and cozy-screen porch was AWESOME. Nice simple touches that many other rentals miss-extra towel racks in bath and hooks in all bedrooms and entry. The double sink vanity in the bathroom made managing with 1-bath very doable. Beds and couch very comfortable. Lots of room on deck with plenty of lounging chairs. We already have plans to return in July and we can’t wait!!!

Great getaway

We were looking for a getaway, not too far from home. We had a very nice stay at the lake house. If you're looking for outdoor fun and family time, this is a great spot. I loved waking up in the morning with my coffee and looking out at the lake. It was great to just walk outside, grab a kayak and go! We hope to return in the Summer and get some warm-weather fishing in. There is a marina very close by where you can rent boats and/or book fishing charter. The house had everything we needed, we really enjoyed it.

Great stay!

House was perfect size and in a perfect location just minutes from the marina where we rented a pontoon boat. Loved the house’s private boat dock area with swings and seating and the private beach on this property. The house’s boat dock was a great place to watch the sunset and see all the stars come out. House had paddle boards and kayaks too. Really lovely to sit on the big screened in porch overlooking the water!
