  • Enjoy these overnight/weekly rental accommodations located just 0.2 mile off the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway near mile marker 214. Make yourself cozy by the fireplace, or sit on your own private deck and enjoy the mountain view while watching deer, turkey, and other wildlife roam. A Place By The Parkway complements the natural beauty and mountain views of this area and is located in a rural residential area. Talents of local artists are showcased in the décor within and surrounding A Place By The Parkway.

    A Place By The Parkway is convenient to many nearby attractions. We are located just 1.2 miles from the Blue Ridge Music Center located on the parkway. The music center offers a Saturday evening concert series during the summer months. Galax, Virginia, the World's Capitol of Old Time & Bluegrass Music is just 8 miles away and full of unique shopping and dining establishments. The historic Rex Theater is located in downtown Galax and hosts the Blue Ridge Backroads Live show each Friday night from 8 - 10 p.m. and can be heard live on 98.1 FM. The Blue Ridge Music Center and the City of Galax are both major venues along The Crooked Road, Virginia's Heritage Music Trail. Mt. Airy, North Carolina, the home place of Andy Griffith, is within a half-hour's drive.

This cabin was just exactly what we needed and we are so grateful for the hospitality and graciousness of the hosts. Everything was clean and welcoming. The location was ideal and so peaceful.

The best place to stay

My cabin was homey and charming. Everything I needed was right there. The site is comfy and private and that made for a restful stay. This was the second time I have stayed in cabin #1 and hope I can stay there the next time I come to Galax!

It was very clean, also very quiet.The bed was super comfortable. We also had plenty of towels and washcloths. The view in the front and back was a little disappointing but we did see some deer walk through the front yard.

Peaceful Respite

We had a great short stay here. It was very quiet and comfortable. It would have helped to have had a chair in the living area to sit in, though. I had great difficulty climbing into the tall bed, so I just slept on the sofa. The interior was spotless, but I felt that the deck could have been swept. We enjoyed staying there, though.

We went through on our way back to Pennsylvania during a freeze, but the cabin was warm and cozy. Shelia communicated with us early that the cabin was ready before we left Asheville for the Blue Ridge Parkway, which was partially closed in areas because of snow and ice. Also filled us in on a couple of things going on that night in Galax. Otherwise they were hands off, but we knew a relative was next door if needed

Wonderful Place to stay

This was our second time to stay here and it was just as great as the first time. We will always try and stay here whenever we are out this way. This place is very comfortable and clean. I highly recommend this place.

Our 2nd time here and we enjoyed it.

This is the 2nd time we stayed at this cabin. We brought us a box fan because we can't sleep without one but if you didn't have something for noise there is a neighbor dog that barked alot. That's the only negative. Everything else was awesome.

We were only there overnight but thoroughly enjoyed the cabin. It was clean and well kept, and it was great for what we needed for our getaway.

Quiet cabin, clean and comfortable. Had sofa bed and a high mattress with pillow top. My brother could not get up on high bed. Needed stool to get up but the rest of us had no problem.
