  • Beautiful 2,000+ square foot vacation home located in Hill City. Walk to 1880 train, dinner or lunch at the Alpine Inn, or walk downtown to do some shopping. Mickelson Hiking/Biking Trail just steps from the house. House is located less than 25 miles from Rapid City. Within thirty minutes drive you can visit: Mount Rushmore National Monument, Crazy Horse Memorial, Needles Hwy, Custer State Park, Lakes, Bear Country, Water Slide, golf courses and Children attraction: Storybook Island. House is approximately one hour from Sturgis/ Deadwood/ and the Badlands.

A great vacation home and was within walking distance of downtown Hill City which was nice for dining options. Pretty central location to everything we wanted to do.

A lovely home overlooking the 1880s train in Hill City. Very responsive host. The house came furnished with everything one would need to prepare most meals. Dishwasher and laundry were exceptionally convenient. I would recommend to others and I will stay again on my next visit to the Black Hills.

We had a great time at this property. It was clean, comfy and spacious for our two families to explore the area. We loved being so close to downtown Hill City and the train station!

Another wonderful stay.

This is our second stay at this location and it is still the best spot. Hill City has a lot to offer and is in the middle of everything to do in the Black Hills.

Great place right above the train!

Place was great, had everything we needed and very cool to watch and hear the train right out the front. Perfect central location to explore all of the Black Hills!

We came to Hill City to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary. The house had lots of room for us to relax and enjoy time with our family.

It was a convient place to stay and the house was clean, there was room enough for everyone. A future note about the amount of stairs and the steepness would be nice to warn potential renters - we have one family member that is older and stairs are difficult. Getting into the house was a little difficult. We never did get a door code emailed to our vrbo account and it took repeated phone calls to the host number to reach someone and get it. Other than that our stay was very enjoyable.

Wonderful house! Close to everything and so spacious for hanging out too. We loved the decks.

This property is beautiful! The house is well kept and super roomy. The beds were comfy. The kitchen was well equipped. It's a perfect location for cycling the Michelson Trail and visiting Custer State Park. We hated to leave!

Amazing!

We had an amazing time and Jill was great! Loved being able to walk to town, watch wild life and the convenience of being centrally located to Rapid City, Custer, Keystone, Deadwood and others. Highly recommend!

Our trip

Wonderful house and fantastic location with a picture perfect view overlooking the 1880 train. Plenty of room for kids. Hill city is also welcoming with a good variety of shops and dining choices.

This is a wonderful property — clean, spacious and a convenient location. We could easily walk to the grocery store or into downtown Hill City to enjoy the restaurants. The house has two huge gathering areas: a spacious living room on the first floor and a magnificent, huge sunroom on the second floor. We enjoyed watching the turkeys from the sunroom. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed.

Wonderful house

The house has everything we needed for our family. We cooked every day and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed. Also used the Blackstone on the deck. We loved seeing and hearing the train. Would stay there again for sure.

South Dakota tour

This property worked well for our first visit to South Dakota and all of its attractions. The location was convenient to reach the national parks, Custer state park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and the 1880's train which is right next door. The property is spacious and the owner was helpful in providing chairs to take to the buffalo roundup so that we did not have to pack and bring them. We appreciated the proximity to Main Street Hill City.

The property was somewhat overgrown. When entering the house smelled musty as if it had been shut up for awhile.
