A house perfect for Playing Hooky is a newly renovated 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath cozy and airy retreat perfectly located in the buzzing town of Hendersonville. You have the convenience of being right downtown but will feel secluded once you are surrounded by nature on our acer of mature trees with playful lawn and firepit.
We are just a 1.3 mile walk or bike ride from Main Street. The new Ecusta Trail is a 19.4 mile greenway along an old railway runs from downtown all the way to Brevard and can be accessed just steps away from the house. This central location is a perfect hub for exploring the all the waterfalls, hiking trails, and famous viewing spots of DuPont State Forest, Pisgah National Forest, Ashville and all of WNC! Henderson is surrounded with amazing Wineries and original breweries perfect for fulling your evenings. (See my personal guidebook for our favorite places)

The space
This bright and airy home has a huge kitchen with everything you need including a dining room table that can seat 8! The cozy sectional faces a 55" TV and gas fireplace with a door opening out to the large upper deck. This main level has a guest 1/2bath, laundry room, and master suite with king size poster bed and double sink console with tub shower for its bathroom.
Downstairs has two more bedrooms, one suited with a queen bed and the other with twin beds and 55” Smart TV. The shared bathroom has a large vanity and tub shower. The lower-level deck has hammocks and stairs to access the rolling backyard with firepit, lawn chairs, and an herb garden you can snip from. The perfect backyard for roasting hotdogs, making s’mores and playing a game of horseshoes!

Beautiful house on lovely quiet neighborhood. Owner very helpful when help was needed.Only problem we encountered was that as older adults, we found the tub a bit difficult to navigate and a bit slippery. That said, the house is beautiful, impeccable, and as well stocked as any rental we’ve seen!

We are four childhood friends, now in our late 60's, who gathered for a getaway. This home was perfect for us - nestled in a quiet neighborhood, yet easily accessible to both Hendersonville and Brevard. The house had everything we needed, with thoughtful amenities that made our stay so comfortable.We made wonderful new memories here and would highly recommend this VRBO.

Great stay! Home was comfortable and well-appointed. Plenty of space for our crew to spread out and good living and dining spaces to be together. We really appreciated the “little things”… those items you didn’t know you needed until you did, for instance, safety pins and a band aid. It’s clearly equipped with the things you normally have at home, but often lacking from a vacation rental. Very clean, organized and livable. This house is in a great location - close to the hiking path (and a great coffee shop!), easy access to downtown restaurants and shops. And, while near other houses, it felt totally private and secluded.

Absolutely Fabulous!

We travel to Hendersonville every year for our kids’ summer camp, and this house was an amazing find! It is perfect for a family and even a group of families traveling together. The kids loved the bunk room downstairs, and the house is just over a mile from downtown. I would gighly recommend staying here, and look forward to doing so again next year!

Wonderful oasis

This cozy home is very nice. It is nestled on a wooded hillside close to everything. The neighborhood has a rural feel. Unfortunately our stay was interrupted by historic Hurricane Helena. The home withstood high winds and rain well. We were safe from flooding although trees fell nearby. After the storms the neighbors were very kind and helpful. The owner of the home also kept in touch with us during these storms. We highly recommend this property for your stay. You won’t be disappointed.

Spacious, private and quiet

Open and comfortable living area and kitchen. Nicely decorated and clean. Kitchen is nicely appointed with dishes/utensils/cooking amenities. The setting of the home is such that you don't feel like you are in a neighborhood. Nice having use of garage and fits two cars.

Playing Hooky, a relaxing and convenient place to stay in Hendersonville, NC

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! My wife loved the fresh flowers and all the special touches you offered - and I loved the cookies! Very convenient to downtown and all the surrounding hikes, restaurants and sites we came to see! Besides the 3-ring binder loaded with local information and "Things To Do", Mitzi also sent us a link listing of all her favorite local sites, restaurants, and fun places to visit. This house was very well supplied - every thing we needed from doing laundry to cooking supplies was there for our use. But there were tons of extras besides, including first aid kit, sun tan lotion, bath soap, shampoo, conditioner, coffee and tea, hair dryer/blower, laundry basket, blankets to use while watching TV in the living room, iron and ironing board, plenty of towels, toilet paper - the list goes on! Very clean and welcoming home!

Perfect Getaway

This home is beautiful, clean and lacks for nothing! Great location and close to so much. Top of the line everything. The bedding was super comfortable as was the living room furniture.
