Bathrobe on, clock forgotten. At De Zeehond & De Badjas, there’s time for each other and for all the things you rarely get around to at home. Enjoy a windswept walk by the sea, warm up in the sauna and end the day in the hot tub beneath the Zeeland sky.

Welcome to De Zeehond & De Badjas, our brand-new XL wellness lodge for up to four guests at the leafy Resort Stelleplas in Zeeland. We’ll be welcoming our first guests from mid-November.

This is our second home. We’re furnishing it with the things, comforts and little extras that make us happy. Beautiful materials and colours, a comfortable bed and plenty of space to spend time together. We love sharing it with people who will enjoy it as much as we do.

We’re currently working on the finishing touches, furnishings and garden, so we can’t show you photos of the finished result just yet. You’re booking a bit of a mystery stay, and we understand that takes trust.

Behind the scenes, we’re putting every care into creating your five-star experience. We look forward to welcoming you from mid-November and hearing your first impressions. What do you love? Is anything missing? During this trial-stay period, your experiences will help us make the lodge even more welcoming.

Make yourself at home

Shoes off, coffee on, time to settle in. Your beds are already made and your bathrobe is waiting. Curl up on the sofa or in the armchair, with a book and a cosy throw close at hand. There are board games for an evening around the table and a TV for when you feel like staying in. Naturally, there’s Wi-Fi too.

The kitchen has everything you need to prepare something delicious: a fridge, gas hob, combination oven and dishwasher. A Nespresso machine using Original capsules is ready for your first coffee, and there’s tea and a kettle too.

Air conditioning and heating keep things comfortable indoors, whether the Zeeland weather turns stormy or hot.

Sleep well and wake up slowly

The lodge has two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a 160 × 200 cm double bed. The second bedroom has two separate 80 × 200 cm single beds. Both rooms have storage space and blackout curtains, so the morning can wait a little longer.

The bathroom has a spacious rainfall shower, a washbasin with an LED mirror and a toilet. Bed linen and towels are included, along with a hammam towel for the sauna.

From sauna warmth to fresh Zeeland air

The garden is home to a wood-fired barrel sauna. Take your time lighting the fire and letting the warmth build. Then enjoy a good sweat, cool down outside and rinse off under the outdoor shower with hot and cold water.

The hot tub is wood-fired too. While the water warms up, enjoy a drink or read another chapter. Once you’re in the warm water, there’s no need to go anywhere for a while. Sun loungers are ready for relaxed moments in the fresh air between sessions.

One bag of firewood will be waiting when you arrive. More wood is available from reception.

Zeeland begins in the garden

Our garden takes its inspiration from the Zeeland landscape. Winding paths echo the waves breaking along the shore. Straight lines reflect the dykes that keep the water at bay. Gentle changes in height suggest the dunes, with shell-covered paths and dune grasses completing the scene.

So even on days when you decide to stay at the lodge, you can still enjoy a little piece of Zeeland.

Head out or stay a little longer?

You can order fresh bread rolls from reception for the following morning. Next to the park, there’s a brasserie for a lovely lunch or a glass of wine. You’ll also find the large Stelleplas fishing lake, where you can quietly watch your float. Fishing permits are available locally.

Fancy exploring? Bikes are available to hire at an affordable price in the village, including e-bikes, women’s, men’s and children’s bikes. The rental team will happily adjust them to the right height, so you can set off comfortably along Zeeland’s dykes.

Wander through historic Middelburg, explore Goes or enjoy a breezy walk on Zoutelande beach. Vlissingen is another lovely destination for a day out. Then it’s back to your bathrobe.

Whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, with family or with friends, we hope De Zeehond & De Badjas feels like your second home for a while too.
