The Wanderlust

  • The Wanderlust is an experience all its own; appealing to the adventurous spirit of all explorers. This large New England Cape is situated on a private 6-acre lot which is surrounded in tall pine trees. The home is only 18 miles from Acadia National Park and 23 miles from Bar Harbor, Maine. Are you ready for a Maine east coast adventure?

    The host Rachel is a 5 star superhost with a solid history operating two other beautiful homes in coastal Maine. Please reference her host profile for guest feedback. Reserve your vacation today before it's booked by someone else!

    This 4 bedroom/3 bath home is spacious and perfect for hosting large families or groups. Each bedroom offers a different experience and are themed as the Voyager, Forager, Wanderer and Adventurer. The kitchen is well appointed and perfect for making meals for your group.
    1st Floor: Large eat in Kitchen with Island Bar | Living Room | Master bedroom | Full bathroom w/ double vanity | Half bathroom with washer and dryer | Large Dining Room that seats 10
    2nd Floor: Bedroom w/Queen Bed | Bedroom with 2 twin beds | Large Bedroom with 4 full beds. | One Full Bath w/double vanity
    Exterior: Gas Grill and Bistro set, Private parking for up to 5 vehicles. There are exterior door security cameras' only.
    The base rental rate covers up to 4 people which is intended to make the house affordable for smaller groups. Each additional person above 4 is $25 per night. This is accounted for in your booking. However, if there is any additions to your group after the booking, please let the host know so we can request payment for any additional people. Max occupancy is no more than 14 people.

    PETS: MAX limit is two pets. Must be under 80lbs. There is a $100 pet deposit fee if your furry friend plans on traveling with you and this will be sent as a separate request after booking. Pets are not allowed to sleep or lay on furniture or beds. Pets should not be left unattended at the home. Please ensure they are treated with flea and tick treatment before coming to Maine. Ticks can be problematic for pets here in Maine. We have a pet policy agreement that must be reviewed after booking.

This home was in a great location for our daily trips to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The table for ten was perfect for gathering in the evenings to enjoy home cooked meals, followed by smores around the campfire. It was supplied with everything we needed to make our stay very enjoyable and stress free. Absolutely would stay here again!

Felt like home

The home was lovely and very comfortable. The check in and out processes were easy. It took us about 30 minutes to get to Acadia from this house.

Perfect stay

The house was a great place to stay with a great location . The house sits off the road so it provides a nice retreat and play area for kids. The house would be good for a big family as there were many sleeping options and was well equipped with supplies for your stay.We enjoyed the restaurant Ruth and Wimpy’s that was close. Short drive to Acadia National Park.

We had a wonderful stay at this house! It was able to accommodate our large family group with lots of beds, and is pet friendly! The outdoor space has woods for the kids to run around in, and is away from the road so cars are not an issue. We stayed here while visiting Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor - about a 35 minute drive to get most places but very reasonable. A bonus for the house is they have a backup power generator - a big storm knocked out power to the area for 16 hours while we were there, but the house still had lights, TV, etc. Overall communication with the host was great and we were able to take care of a few small things that happened very quickly.

Excellent option for family visiting Bar harbor / Acadia

Home was just as advertised. Clean, comfortable, stocked well. Good option for familes visiting the Bar harbor / Acadia area (about 30 mins away). Beds were very firm and comfortable. Room with 4 beds is perfect hangout spot for the kids.

We loved the house and property. Only complaint was the laundry room commode leaked and the A/C filters were clogged. Would stay again.

Acadia Adventure

The house is clean, roomy and comfortable for our gang of 12. The kitchen is well stocked to prepare home cooked meals. The appliances are all modern and upscale. Communication with the owner was superb; check in and check out was a breeze. Will definitely stay here again and have already recommended the house to others!

Maine Wedding

Stayed for a few days for a wedding with my family and their spouses and children. Perfect place for our family regarding number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Very clean and updated. Just loved it! It is very nicely decorated and loved the cookware. Has everything you can think of!

Autumn Visit to Maine

My husband and I, along with our dog, enjoyed a three day stay at this terrific property in Hancock Maine. The house is ideally situated a short drive to Ellsworth, and a half-hour drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. It is at the end of a long driveway and surrounded by grass and lush forest. Our dog loved the yard! The house itself is very comfortable and well appointed, with everything required to make a stay complete.

Great Location !!

The Wanderlust was very comfortable and clean. The setting is beautiful and there is a fun outside yard. Rachel was a great host and great communicator. She gave us everything we asked for ... even buying a baby pack n play. Great house !!

Family Trip to Acadia

The Wanderlust was great for our family trip to Acadia. The host was very easy to communicate with, and checkin/checkout were a breeze. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The four bedrooms each had a different layout, which was perfect to accommodate both the adults and kids. The kids also enjoyed playing in the large yard. The house is close to several grocery stores and restaurants and about 30-40 mins from anything in Acadia and Bar Harbor. It was a perfect home base for our trip!

This was one of my very best vacation rentals.

I rarely post comments, but I felt impelled to do so in this case. The property and furnishings were amazing and surpassed my expectations. There were ample supplies including many items that you would never expect in a rental. I think the reason I enjoyed it as much as I did was the feeling that they really cared about their renters. I actually felt like part of the family. I rated this a rare 5 out of 5 stars and truly recommend it.
