  • Located on a family-owned waterfront estate, The Gate House, a cozy 2-story, 2-bedroom cottage, is only steps away from the tranquil waters of the Peconic bay. 'one of the last saltwater farms,' the estate is not only picturesque, but is also an exemplary model of a traditional working farm.

    Lots of natural light makes the house wonderfully cheerful, and gentle breezes from the water keep the house naturally cool. The intimate slate patio and sprawling lawn make for a great place to entertain friends and family. Stroll along the estate's expansive private beach or have a picnic overlooking the water. The beautiful tree-filled grounds complete the pristine view of the bay and Shelter Island, making the estate an artist’s paradise for all seasons. With room to roam and nature to explore, the property is both kid- and pet-friendly. Very nice relaxing place to stay in an old style rustic farmhouse property. Beautiful ocean views, fire pit, boat access, but close to town and train accessible (15-20 walk to LIRR and village). Host was very friendly and helpful.

The house had a lot of charm, was very clean. I liked that Patrick was on the property if we needed anything. I also loved the history the property held. Patrick was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

Pat was the perfect host and our time on Long Island wouldn't have been complete with our stay at Cherry Lane Farms! From phenomenal local recommendations to the most amazing private beach, I can't recommend this spot more! It was perfect for our family and young child to rest, explore, and have the perfect getaway!

This was a great spot for a weekend getaway. The cottage was clean, Pat was very helpful (and friendly when we got the chance to meet him in person). The beach access was great and an easy location to get into town or to surrounding areas. We hope to stay again!

This is a lovely, small property, comfy beds, full kitchen, dining room, living room, outdoor patio with a grill and a stones throw from the beach and the bay. Convenient to town and good restaurants. Clean, well tended, and the host couldn’t have been more welcoming and easy to reach. My wife and I were looking for a solitary getaway for a weekend and got just what we had hoped for.

The house is spacious, nicely furnished and charming with views as well as access to the water with a nice outdoor table, chairs and an umbrella for sitting outside. Our host Patrick was extremely responsive and a delight to meet.Although it did not present an issue for us; there is only one bathroom on the main floor with the bedrooms upstairs. Not surprising for an older home but helpful to know.One of the most appealing features is the quiet; the house is located on a farm at the end of a road and you neither hear nor see neighbors. It was an ideal location from which to explore the lovely town of Greenport.

My husband and I stayed in Pat's beach house for a long weekend of wine tasting and exploring. This property is water front with well maintained, clean historic buildings. We love Greenport and visit every year, so we were excited to find a place in walking distance to town but off the beaten path and on the water! The owner Pat is a wonderful host. He is quite the historian and is happy to share stories of his wonderful property and the town. The little house we rented sleeps 4, there's is another house that also sleeps 4, and the main house sleeps 10, should you have a large group. Plenty of parking. Highly recommend!

Wonderful location, just beautiful surroundings! Wild turkeys even came to visit. Gatehouse was very clean and comfortable. Pat, the host, was great. The private beach really made it a success for us.

The house is an adorable cottage with water views. It is original in its design so just one bathroom on the first floor but the views are gorgeous, super quiet, lovely area to sit and enjoy the water. Also it is very close to town, The owner was great and super communicative. I recommend it highly!

Great place to stay!!!

This is a great place to stay in Greenport. It has a private beach and is quiet and friendly. It's a 2-minute drive to town and shops, but you will want to spend your time enjoying the beautiful waterfront views.

Nice, relaxing stay

My husband and I brought our puppy. He had a great time running around the yard and beach. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return. The property is beautiful and we were very happy to find a pet friendly place on the water and close to town.
