We (family of 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs) arrived after quite a long day of travel and it was apparent that the hotel staff had clearly been very busy with various events. The instructions were rattled through and the check in felt very rushed.
We went to our room and there were some minor issues such as:
- an additional charge of £50 for "holding" which wasn't clear when booking the room
- The kettle wire not actually reaching any of the sockets within the room.
- The room was quite cold and the heating took a quite some time to heat up. Not sure how effective the heating system is.
- Despite booking a room for 4 people we only received 2x towels. Tried to call but the phone did not work.
- The phone was not connected and when I enquired about this the response was "well we don't offer any room service anyway".
- The corridor was very loud with the party and disrupted the night. The knock on impact was the dogs became stressed and unsettled resulting in some barking. It might be worth checking with the hotel before booking.
I did not want to disturb the staff on the night given how busy it was.
The positives -
- Location is very well maintained around the grounds
- Parking is great with plenty of space
- Dog friendly but expect a surcharge of £25 per dog on top of a holding charge
- The bar staff were very friendly and approachable
- The pool and gym looks well maintained
