Would you like to spend some relaxing days on the Baltic Sea—close to the water, surrounded by nature, yet still within easy reach of Glücksburg or Flensburg? Our vacation home, “Opa Meyer,” is situated in a quiet location in the second row along Meierwiker Bay. The small natural beach is just a 2-minute walk away, and the nearby forest trails are about a 3-minute walk away.
The location is ideal for walks along the water, hikes, jogs, and bike rides along the Flensburg Fjord—and just as lovely for a peaceful getaway during the cooler months.
With about 70 m² of space, the house can accommodate up to 4 people. The bright living area is perfect for cozy evenings. The spacious master bedroom features a large double bed. A separate second bedroom, accessible via the hallway, is furnished with a 160 cm-wide sofa bed.
The fully equipped kitchen features a 4-burner stovetop, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer compartment, coffee maker, electric kettle, and toaster. The bathroom has a shower and toilet. Bed linens and towels are provided, as are Wi-Fi and a TV.
Plenty of outdoor space—and your own barrel sauna:
A special highlight is the barrel sauna in the garden—just as enjoyable after a day at the beach as it is after a long walk on a cool fall or winter day.
The house features several lovely outdoor areas: a balcony with a partial view of the Flensburg Fjord, an approximately 20 m² loggia with an adjoining south-facing terrace, and a garden spanning roughly 240 m². Between the neighboring houses and the mature trees, you can enjoy occasional glimpses of the fjord from the balcony.
In the sheltered loggia, a lounge sofa and lounge chairs invite you to relax. The terrace also features a Weber kettle grill for cozy barbecue evenings.
For children, the garden offers a swing, a climbing rope, and a rope ladder. Right next to the house, you’ll find two fenced-in parking spaces.
The beach, Glücksburg, and Flensburg are all nearby:
The small natural beach at Meierwiker Bay is practically right on your doorstep. You can reach the wider beach at Solitüde on foot in about 10 minutes.
Glücksburg—with its castle, the Sandwig spa beach, and the Fördeland Thermal Baths—as well as downtown Flensburg are all within easy reach by bike or car.
This makes “Opa Meyer” equally suitable for summer days at the beach, active vacations along the fjord, and relaxing getaways with a sauna any time of year.
Our tips for the surrounding area:
Cycling along the fjord
The surrounding area is perfect for bike tours toward Glücksburg, Holnis, or Flensburg. A bike rental shop is easily accessible.
Kayaking & SUP in Sandwig
Depending on the season, kayaks and SUP boards can be rented at the Sandwig beach resort—a great way to explore the fjord from the water.
Holnis
The peninsula is a particularly beautiful destination for an outing: beach, plenty of nature, and, when conditions are right, opportunities for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Langballigau
Our personal tip for an outing along the fjord: the small harbor of Langballigau—best enjoyed with a fish sandwich from Odinfischer.
Boat tours on the fjord
Various boat tours are offered from Flensburg and the surrounding area. A trip across the fjord—for example, toward Sønderborg in Denmark—is especially beautiful.
