Charming 1924 Craftsman Style Cottage Adjacent to the Garten Verein

  • Originally built in 1924, this charming Craftsman Style Cottage is situated on a secluded dead-end street across from one of Galveston's majestic private estates. There are 2 bedrooms and one full bathroom. The house was renovated in 2012 and central AC and heat was installed. Each bedroom has a king bed and lots of closet space. The bathroom has a toilet, sink, and tub/shower combo. The bathroom has an exhaust fan with a heater as well.

    The house has an open floor plan between the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The kitchen has a gas stove and oven with a griddle and a vented microwave above. There is a large butcher block island with bar seating for you and your guests. The butcher block was sourced from a local meat store who served islanders for decades. The refrigerator is a large French door style model, with the refrigerator on one side and the freezer on the other and makes plenty of ice! The kitchen is fully stocked with cups, plates, flatware, stemware, cooking utensils, pots and pans, bowls, etc. It also has a blender, toaster, and coffee maker.

    The living room area has a queen sized pullout couch and two chairs. The 55" flat screen TV has Roku, cable TV, and a DVD player. High speed internet and wifi is provided. The dining area has a large table that can seat four people comfortably. There is a full size front-load washer and gas dryer in the laundry room.

    The front yard has a picket fence and is landscaped with roses, seasonal flowers and bougainvillea. There is a large shaded front porch with a teak bench for enjoying the cool breeze off the Gulf of Mexico.

    The back yard is fenced and landscaped as well. There is a red brick patio with a picnic table, fire pit, and charcoal grill for cookouts. There is an outdoor shower with hot and cold water and a foot wash for rinsing off the sand from you or your pets after a day at the beach.

    The house is centrally located and minutes from the beach, seawall, Pleasure Pier, the Strand, Moody Gardens, and Schlitterbahn water park. There are several great restaurants close by, as well and grocery and outdoor gear stores.

    Given the property’s location and amenities, it is perfect for a couple’s retreat, a weekend getaway with friends, family vacation, or long-term rental for snowbirds escaping the cold winters.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming home. The house is full of character and has a warm, welcoming feel that made it easy to relax and enjoy our time away. Galveston Getaway

Excellent location and very pleasant living area. Beds were extremely comfortable and kitchen well stocked! Would recommend this venue to everyone. Close to beaches and restaurants and the Strand!

We enjoyed or stay at this warm, cozy, and peaceful home. Well maintained, furnished, and supplied for all your needs. We can't say enough about the quiet street which is absent the traffic you may experience in other areas. Well located, close to restaurants, grocery stores, and the seawall. Really enjoyed the front porch and the backyard was also lovely. Our pup enjoyed her stay and especially enjoyed Kempner Park right next door. Our hosts, Doug and Rebecca, were welcoming and very responsive. This property is a gem. Thanks.....Lloyd and Liz

Great place to relax

This property was great for our family and pet. Was within walking distance to the beach for us (0.5 miles away). Super quiet neighborhood with a nice park nearby. Centrally located for all of the other activities Galveston had to offer. We loved this place.

Decorator & gardener’s touch

Had to work remotely so appreciated the fast Wi-Fi. Also, the beds were super comfortable with top notch linens. Street parking readily available, just steps outside the front door. Lawn freshly mowed and trash pickup a breeze. Close to the beach & downtown. Would highly recommend this property.

Gold Standard Experience

This property exemplifies why people like us use VRBO. The description, cleanliness, ease of check in and communication with the host set the gold standard. Everything about this property exceeded my expectations. My only complaint is that I only get to Galveston once a year to stay at this beautiful home away from home. I strongly recommend this property as a 5 star stay in Galveston!

Great property

As soon as we walked in, we loved it! Very open, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with all utensils and appliances. The bedrooms are large and the beds extremely comfortable! The location is perfect and the yards are great for your fur-kids. The owners are always available and accommodating! We will definitely be going back!

Great holiday weekend

My husband, daughter and I enjoyed a long holiday stay at your cottage. Thank you! Galveston is a very interesting city for history buffs like us. We also went bird watching and out for great Cajun food. Two great coffee places: Red Light and Corduroy. Yum. Hope to be back.

Home away from home

Hosts are available by phone and answer any questions, or take care of a need. House is in a quiet, accessible location and has a peaceful yard. It is the perfect home for quiet relaxation! Well appointed and well maintained. Not a home for noisy people or parties. Enjoy!!

Charming home.

We loved our stay at the property. It was centrally located to everything and I felt comfortable walking around the neighborhood. I was also able to walk to the sea wall from the house. The house has a beautifully designed interior, and the outside grounds were beautifully maintained as well with plants and flowers. You can see the pride the owners have in this home by the way the property looked. The owners were easy to contact if we had any questions. We will definitely stay at this property again in the very near future.

This property was perfect and the host communication was excellent. The property is located not too far from the beach. We initially wanted to walk from the house but definitely underestimated the Texas heat and opted to buy the yearly parking pass at the seawall. The pass was 45 but we definitely benefited from it. Having the shower and dog rinsing station in the backyard was perfect for when returning from the beach. I would suggest bringing extra blankets and extra toilet paper for longer stays. Other than that the house was fully equipped. There is no TV's in the bedrooms but there are books in the living room for you to check out. The host communication was outstanding, we notified them on one of the days that the blender was broken and they went out of their way to buy a new one and drop it off. We had two adults one 11yr old and and elderly dog and the house was comfortable for all. Our stay was 10 days. Would definitely consider coming back again.

Lovely house for a long stay

We stayed here for about month over the summer. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. It is a short walking distance from the beach and town centre. The house has all the amenities to make your stay comfortable, but it's is missing a dishwasher, which was a bit of a pain during a longer stay. However we did accept this fact when booking, because it is beautiful! I'd highly recommend it!

Very quiet location, convenient to beach, restaurants, nice walking areas nearby. Nicely and simply decorated. We had a short stay but we’d return to the property.

Hope to Come Again

Convenient location, quiet neighborhood on dead end street with privacy (nice to have our coffee on the front porch in our pajamas!). The house was clean and very comfortable. We must agree with other visitors about the beds - they are great. Entry to Kempner Park was a short walk around the block from the house and it's a beautiful park. As avid gardeners ourselves we appreciated the roses, caladiums and other landscaping, as well as fencing around entire property. Hope to come again.
