Affordable Cozy Cedar Cabin Overlooking the River

Overlooking the Ohio River, the Cedar Cabin at the River's Edge offers a peaceful, comfortable, and intimate experience of the Ohio River. With a queen, 2 twins, and another queen in the loft, this would be great for families, hunters, or couples. Dog and cat friendly. Smart TV. Free wi-fi available.
The space
This cozy, rustic, cedar-walled single-room cabin directly overlooks the Ohio River. The bathroom has a shower, sink, and toilet. Outside there is a short path down to the beach & water, as well as a large open grassy & landscaped space overlooking the river, with a fire pit, swing set, and flagstone areas with tables. The property also borders a deep creek, with lots of trees. The cabins & yard are mostly separated from the road by the restaurant (no longer open to the public). Two parking spaces available per cabin (please reach out ahead of time should you want more spaces). Locally-sourced coffee provided in the cabin, as well as some instant oatmeal and granola bars. The room is heated/cooled primarily with a mini split unit.
Guest access
Guests can access the river, beach, and large yard at their leisure. There is also a landing spot for boats about four miles south (KH Butler) and a cute little town about a 10-minute drive north. Free onsite parking lot is available. We live in a very rural area, so there are a variety of dwellings and lots of patches of woods around.

We offer a contact-free, COVID-friendly checkin. Very kid friendly. Very pet friendly. Smoking & vaping permitted on cabin deck and outside public areas, but not in cabins please. We provide locally-sourced coffee in the cabin. Smart TV in cabin. Free Wi-Fi.

The Cedar Cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Property is rustic in appearance but all the amenities you need. It overlooks the Ohio River which is a nice addition. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. This is sport second time staying here and we will return.

We absolutely adored our stay at River's Edge! It was the perfect spot for a peaceful getaway, with a beautiful view of the river from the back deck. The breakfasts every morning were wonderful and the communication couldn't have been better. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area -- highly, highly recommended!

Amazing spot, cabin is really close to river, you can hear a relaxing sound of nature, cabin smells woody which is too nice, perfect combination with environment, owners are so friendly, breakfast was amazing, freshly made and they are bringing it to your door. If you’re looking for a place that rewards you for going a little off course, this is exactly that kind of destination. We weren’t able to arrive until late at night, and while the road there certainly had its fair share of twists and turns, the directions provided by the owners turned the journey into part of the experience. It felt less like navigating and more like a quiet adventure—spotting old landmarks along the way and realizing we were exactly where we were meant to be. Once we arrived, a solar-lit pathway gently illuminated step by step as we made our way in, creating a welcoming and almost storybook-like entrance that immediately set the tone for our stay. Our daughter absolutely loved the outdoor setup—especially the swings and bars that gave her a chance to burn off energy before and after our long drive. It was such a thoughtful touch. Inside, the cabin lived up to every expectation. The bedding and accommodations were perfect, and “cozy” truly is the best word to describe the space. Being pet-friendly with no extra charge was a huge bonus. Waking up to the view overlooking the Ohio River into West Virginia was something special. It’s the kind of view you wish you had more time to sit with, and we genuinely regretted only staying one night. We may not know when or why we’ll find ourselves back in Gallipolis, but now we know we have a reason. Do not hesitate to stay here. Take the extra time, go a little out of your way—you won’t regret it. All the best!

We stayed in the Cedar Cabin, Host was friendly, ordered the breakfast bowls for breakfast was delivered with a smile on time. Bowls were delicious. Gourmet coffee was included in room. If staying again I would choose bigger cabin next door It did have a lot of stink bugs there was a fly swatter in cabin, but a handheld vac would have been a good option. Great unobstructed view.

Property was exactly as described. Picked this property for its proximity to a winery we were visiting, and for the view of the river. The made to order breakfast each morning, delivered to our, was delicious. We spent hours on the balcony watching boats and barges pass by. Our stay was pleasant and peaceful and definitely would recommend, and fully intend on booking again.

Perfect Getaway

Cozy cabin with plenty of sleeping space. Good little beach for fishing if the river is low enough. Easily accessible and has all the necessary amenities. It’s awesome to not need to go somewhere else for breakfast and to have it delivered to your cabin is top tier.

Convenient with a view

Cute little cabins with a beautiful view of the river, we came out this way for the mothman museum and statue but we were able to explore hocking hills state park, Huntington WV and even hopped over to Ashland KY for a few hours. We would definitely stay again!

This spacious one room cabin was clean and stocked by considerate, generous people. There were board games, several flavors of creamer in the fridge, plenty of nice towels, and a fun little loft. The home cooked breakfast was delicious and delivered on time. The best part was the back porch with a beautiful view of the river. We will definitely go back!
