*NEW* Modern Hilltop House of Galena

Hilltop House invites you to relax in a tranquil nature environment at a home situated on 1 acre of densely wooded lot with a river view, just minutes from downtown Galena, Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort, Mississippi River, multiple golf courses, spas and much more! The house is located at treetop level on a private hill with three levels, each with a bedroom, living area and a full bathroom. The main floor has a beautiful modern kitchen/dining area, with fully screened porch allowing enjoyment of the outdoors without the bother of insects.
Amenities include: cable tv and internet.
There’s an added layer of safety with the exterior security camera too.

There are outdoor security cameras for safety.

Holodays require a 3-night minimum stay unless written approval given from hostess.
Holiday booking at end of year cannot be 12/26-12-31 unless permission received from hostess. Must include at least 12-25 and/or 12/31.

Unless communicated via VRBO messenger with hostess prior to arrival, no early check-in or out is available AND a fine of $150/hour up to 4 hours will be assessed or a full night rate after 4 hours of you do not receive permission. Communication is key, and many times I can offer early or late accommodations if you ask.

Perfect Weekend!

This is exactly what my husband, 4 kids and I needed for a long weekend away! It had enough space for us all, and the property was great. The screened-in wrap around porch was a favorite element. It’s cool that the house has 3 levels. We are adding this property to our getaway rotation!

Galena stay

We had a wonderful relaxing time at this beautiful home Danae could not have been more helpful Shopping and attractions in both Galena and Dubuque was great! Otto’s is an amazing spot for breakfast/brunch!! We would definitely stay again!

Great hill-top home

Home was in a nice location to area amenities, clean, and had a great sledding hill for the kids. There was a rather steep graded driveway hill that made it tricky with recent snowfall. Just keep an eye on the weather and be prepared if snow was in the forecast. Great home and experience overall. Would book again.

Great balance

We enjoyed our weekend here. It provides the balance of being away from civilization with only being a short drive away from downtown Galena. We spent some time in Dubuque as well which only a slightly longer drive away. The large hill outside the house is great for a hill workout if that's your thing.

Covid remote get away

We were looking for a place to get away with another couple that was remote and yet accessible to Galena. The home met our expectations! It was a great place to relax, cook, catch up and was within minutes of kayaking, biking and shopping. The owner was accessible and quite responsive. We would highly recommend this home for your next getaway.

Birthday Weekend

Had a surprise birthday weekend for my husband with 2 other couples from out of town. House was perfect for 3 couples. There is a bedroom, bathroom and sitting area on each floor so we each had our own space. The screened in porch was great for corn hole so we could play late into the night without worrying about mosquitoes. The only downside was poor wi-fi for our music but its out in the country and surrounded by quite a canopy of trees so I'm sure it is pretty difficult to to obtain good service. Owner was very responsive and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

A wonderful respite from the city

We were looking for a last minute get away from the city and we enjoyed our time in this lovely house. Danae was very responsive to any questions we had. We brought our own comfy outdoor chairs to sit in by the fire pit and enjoyed roaring fires most evenings, and mornings we sipped our coffee on the enclosed wrap around deck. We also appreciated how spotless the place was. We were very comfortable and happy with our stay.

Would stay here again!

We were looking for a quick getaway and this place did the trick! The place was clean and in good shape and the owner was such a delight to work with. She gave us very personalized suggestions for things to do in the area. We had a last minute booking and still the owner was extremely responsive and helpful regarding our requests. We look forward to the next time we can visit!

Suited our needs perfectly!

We were a group of five friends from different states, gathering in Galena. This house offers a nice central living room/dining room/kitchen area, with a bedroom on the same floor. That is very helpful for anyone who cannot do many stairs. There are two more bedrooms - one upstairs with a living room and bathroom, and one down stairs with a living room and a bathroom. The separate areas allowed people to be together, or to get away to read a book, which was really nice. The owner was extremely fast to respond to all questions, and helped us figure out some things to do and places to eat. She also had snacks and a drink to greet us on the counter as soon as we walked in! That was very welcoming. The drive up to the house is gravel, and steep towards the top but we had absolutely no problem getting up it. The house feels secluded with all the trees around it. We especially liked that. I would totally recommend renting here!
