Terrace with views Sleeps 6 (see accommodation details below for detailed description) Castle House Studio in the heart of Polruan will most likely be, one of the most unique and memorable self-catering accommodation choices you will have ever made.  Built in the garden of Castle House, this cleverly thought through property has been designed to evoke the charm and character of a seafaring vessel even using original teak doors and windows from the now retired steam ocean liner, the Kenya Castle.  Occupying the entire lower floor level, each room has been designed to maximise the connection between your accommodation and the neighbouring ocean with porthole windows and plenty of bespoke woodwork adding character and charm. In addition, this amazing space offers a high level of comfort with all the usual appliances provided for your convenience. The expansive, uninterrupted views out across the harbour to Fowey and up stream towards Bodinnick are ever changing and many hours can (and no doubt will be), spent watching the wonderful moving nautical picture taking place right in front of you! The village of Polruan has a couple of charming, traditional pubs as well as village store and lovely cafe. The foot passenger ferry across to Fowey operates all year round with later crossing times during the season. The car ferry across to Fowey from Polruan leaves from Bodinnick (3 miles away) and again operates all year round - (both services are likely not to operate on Christmas Day and Boxing Day).  Nearby Lantic Bay beach (known as the hidden gem) is a fantastic beach owned by the National Trust and is just over a mile from Polruan.  Dog friendly all year round, this wonderfully sheltered cove with golden sand is a terrific place to enjoy some much needed downtime.   Bodinnick was home to Daphne du Maurier and her family and is where she wrote her first novel, The Loving Spirit.  The family home, Ferryside, is unmistakeable from the water with its famous blue shutters and cream walls.  Once you have enjoyed your time in Fowey with its bustling high street with pubs, cafes and restaurants, heading back across the water to the more quiet Polruan is what so many of its loyal visitors love.  Polruan has a couple of small beaches (Quay beach and Back beach), the latter being the better of the two. Whilst small, this largely sandy beach provides a welcome sandy spot for families.  Please be aware, that the beaches are tidal and will disappear at high tide! The picturesque village Polperro and its lively neighbour Looe are a short 6 and 10 mile drive from Polruan. Further afield are the must visit attractions - Lost Gardens of Heligan and of course The Eden Project which are 24 and 17 miles respectively from Polruan. ACCOMMODATION Entrance 2 steps up into your accommodation with gorgeous wooden flooring throughout the ground floor. Open plan kitchen/dining and living area Full length, opening windows to take in the view and let the fabulous outside space in! Comfortable dining table and chairs with a fully equipped kitchen including an energy efficient, British made Everhot electric range cooker and hob, fridge and 3 drawer freezer, standard size dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso coffee capsule machine. Washing machine and dryer are located in the ground floor shower room.  Comfy living area seating surrounding the feature wood burner and TV. Captains bedroom A large alcove which is set back from the living space (complete with heavy lined curtains for privacy), provides the most comfortable double bed with the convenience of the family shower room and WC just next to it.  Shower room WC Step into this room with shower cubicle (fixed head and separate handheld shower attachment), basin, small heated towel rail and WC with tiled floor. This is also where you will find the washing machine and tumble dryer. Ground floor bedroom with shower WC en-suite Step into this lovely bedroom with king size bed and of course, super views.  The beautifully presented shower WC en-suite has a large walk-in shower with fixed head and separate handheld attachment as well as basin, heated towel rail, wall mounted hairdryer and WC.  A short set of teak open tread stairs lead up to... MEZZANINE style bedroom Carpeted space with 2 x 3 ft single mattresses  - due to the restricted head height, this area is only suited to children in the 4 - 13 year age group. A wonderful oval porthole looks out towards the harbour from this rather magical space.  Heating Underfloor heating and wood burner. Dogs This property welcomes a maximum of 2 well behaved dogs.   OUTSIDE/PARKING There is a large, slate terraced patio with furniture and wonderful views out across the water. With private parking such a rarity in Polruan you could be one of the few lucky Polruan guests which will have unrestricted access to a shared double garage just 100 yards away from your accommodation.  The double garage is shared with the owners other property, White Star Cottage. Each property's space is generous in size and name signed to avoid confusion.  Garage height and per space is big enough for a medium to large size car without roof storage boxes.  The space is not suitable for any larger vehicle including camper vans or tall 4x4's. If additional parking is required, the pay and display car park at the top of St Saviours Hill is a few hundred yards away.  **Cars can be loaded and unloaded within 40 metres of the property.  ADDITIONAL - This property accommodates a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children. - This property welcomes a maximum of 2 dogs - pet policy applies.
