  • Enjoy a vacation at the highest level of luxury at Bliss Mountain Lodge, an experience in a class all by itself. Bliss Mountain Lodge is a beautiful home nestled in the midst of Leatherwood Mountains Resort, a gated vacation resort offering horseback riding, restaurant and bar, tubing, biking, miles of trails and streams, fly fishing, wedding and corporate retreats, family reunions and much more.

    Once inside you stroll across 150 year old roughhewn reclaimed wood flooring to the great room which allows several different locations for guests to enjoy their time together while sitting on unique rustic furnishings and enjoying original artwork and statues. A massive stone fireplace emerging from the lower level stretches through the great room. The gourmet kitchen has an island bar. The kitchen is equipped with all Thermador top of the line appliances, custom made copper farmhouse sink and faucet and a second prep sink with exquisite granite countertops and backsplash. Natural light fills this entire area through a wall of windows showcasing the mountain range in view.

    With four master suites, five full bathrooms and a fifth bedroom with bunks, Bliss Mountain Lodge has plenty of room to accommodate. The large king suite on the main level has its own fireplace and door access to the back deck overlooking the mountains. The master bath is spacious and offers a large shower and a jetted air bath. A king suite in the loft allows access to a private rooftop garden, as well as an additional balcony to enjoy the view. Guests of the loft king suite will enjoy a full private bathroom with an air jet garden bath and a separate shower. An additional queen suite in the loft has a full bath and balcony with long-range views of Grandfather Mountain more than __ miles away. The lower level offers two bedrooms with a shared Jack and Jill bathroom. A king suite at one end and the perfect amount of additional bunked sleeping space at the other make up these two rooms. This bathroom has a tub/shower combo. There's an additional full bath near the entry on the main level and a half bath in the bar area on the lower level.
    Hang at the bar or slip over to the oversized sectional sofa. Downstairs guests can also enjoy a regulation size pool table. The half bath in this entertainment area showcases a six million year old petrified wood sink supported on a unique one of a kind vanity hand crafted by a local craftsman.

    This home is located in the 4000 acre, Leatherwood Mountain Resort in Ferguson, NC. Our guests are invited to enjoy our Horseback Riding program where you can experience the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains pristine wilderness by Horseback (reservation required). You will have access to miles of hiking trails, mountain streams, stocked fishing pond, community swimming pool, play ground and tennis courts, creek tubing (seasonal), on-site restaurant with active live music & event calendar (guest advised to check hours when planning meals).


    Leatherwood Mountains has surveillance or recording devices on the property. Our neighborhood is very safe and our property very secluded. For added peace of mind, we have security cameras by the gated entrance and common areas. Individual properties may also have cameras on the EXTERIOR of homes. Please be assured they are not directed at private areas, hot tub porches etc.

A Thanksgiving to remember!!!

This place is better than advertised. I would definitely rent again. Best Thanksgiving ever. Plenty of rooms and lots of space. Party of 10 adults and one minor. A few minor glitches, but management (Sue and Abbie) did a great job of communicating and resolving issues immediately. I agree with quite a few of the reviews, the landscape needs to be addressed. The lighting was not the best, but harder to figure out, which switch turned on specific lights. The game/entertainment room downstairs, was good, but would've been better if the fireplace was usable. Instructions should be available to use projector. I figured it out on my own, but it took some time. Overall I would rate an A+.

Too much clutter!

First the positives, it’s a huge house with lots of space which was perfect for our family. It was rainy during our visit so we loved having the pool table and ping pong table and the view was amazing. But that’s about it. The house needs a really good scrubbing and the landscaping looked like it hadn’t been maintained in weeks, maybe months. Weeds were everywhere and even coming up through the cracks in the driveway. It look as if no one had been there in quite a while. Inside there’s just too much junk! And it’s really weird junk. There’s a skeleton playing a banjo and weird dolls sitting around. I think the owners must have some kind of antique store or oddity shop because it looked like they bought out a carnival. It was a little on the creepy side. Several of the tv’s didn’t work, the gas fireplaces wouldn’t work and the ping pong table was broken so we had to rig it to be able to play. There was one wood burning fireplace but no one informed us where the firewood was. This could be an excellent house but it needs some TLC desperately.

Good but not great..............

Interior of cabin was very clean with lots of space. Dark, with little or no lighting in some places, hard to find switches in others. Outside lighting at entrance is hard to find and minimal at best. Grounds needs a lot of work as it is overgrown with weeds (horse in picture in nearly hidden from view). Pictures are greatly misleading. Map provided by property manager is outdated as one of the two fishing ponds has been without water for two years and several trails are not accessible. Roads and property are very well marked.

Amazing getaway!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a family reunion here and really loved this home! The views are truly spectacular, and the home is really uniquely decorated and incredibly comfortable. Plenty of bedrooms and baths for a good size party, and the kitchen is really well setup with high end appliances and accessories. We loved the game area with the pool and ping pong tables, not to mention the great sitting area. There are a few things that were not up to par with what I expected. The sound system and large projection theatre system is really old technology and difficult to try and get to work, so I wouldn’t plan on using them. It needs to be updated to use wireless so you can access your own streaming service for movies. Also, the outside area is not like shown in the photos. It really is not comfortably accessible because it has become overgrown, same with the “garden” off the upstairs bedroom. It’s all weeds. Overall the location and house itself is really an incredible experience. I want to add that Leatherwood Resort is really beautiful and well run. The small cafe and stables are a great plus. The management was easy to work with and the maintenance crew was right there to help us get the theatre equipment up and running. Great job Leatherwood!

We weren't ready for our time at Bliss Mountain to end!

Our group consisted of relatives who are world travelers, travel gurus, hard-to-impress, rarely excited, tough nuts to crack, yet this delightful property AND its kind and welcoming host management team made us feel not only like adventurous kids again, but also like people deserving of a luxurious recreational hospitable experience. Great job! Bliss Mountain was everything we wanted and more!!

A mixed bag

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Bliss Mountain Lodge is a beautiful property. It does have the disadvantage of being far from everything. That is great if that is what you desire but in retrospect it was not a good fit for us. The cabin is very large and accommodates many people well. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen had a wonderful supply of nice sharp knives. It was overall clean but needs a thorough deep cleaning for dust webs in corners. The accumulation of dirt on the wine rack was remarkable. (They did offer a bottle of wine on the house though, a nice touch.) The cabin is overall very dark, even with all the lights on and the sun shining..something to keep in mind if traveling with the elderly. The landscaping which I am sure once was lovely, is in deep need of attention. There was not a single hanger in any of the bedrooms except for 2 clip hangers. Most notably, there was a beautiful bar in the basement but NO BAR GLASSES at all. (except for plenty of wine glasses and beer mugs upstairs)The basement projection TV was very nice but no games were functional( pinball, bowling). The karaoke machine worked but the only music that we could find was a Christmas CD.Overall this could be a great property with a 5 star review if these few improvements could be made and you don't mind being far from everything (30 min or more).

Amazing family getaway

From the beautiful, unique equestrian themed decor, to the breathtaking views, to the house itself, this property exceeded all expectations in every way. The only suggestion that I would give, is that someone should come around to the properties to collect trash from time to time. To expect guests to travel all the way down the mountain with trash bags in their vehicles, sort of takes away from the “luxury vacation” experience. Other than this small detail, it was an awesome stay for our family and we HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing chance to “get away from it all”.

Reviewer Comments: VRBO had listed this cabin as "Boone", which is misleading. the location is extremely remote and not close to ANYTHING. a bit frustrating since we thought we were staying in Boone/Blowing Rock, when in fact both of those towns are 1 hour away up and over a mountain. That being said, the cabin itself was beautiful

Great for multiple families!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent Thanksgiving at this cabin with 11 people, including kids and grandparents and it was perfect for this. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy and not feel like we were on top of each other. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare a large Thanksgiving meal with two ovens, a warmer, two sinks, KitchenAid pro mixer, and tons of pots, pans and casserole dishes. The highlight was the very large fireplace with plenty of firewood for all four days-we built a fire every day and kept it going all day long! Beautiful view and the inside was appointed very well with beautiful furniture and decorations. The home was easy to get to with paved road and driveway. The bathrooms were nice and big as were the sleeping areas. Our only drawback was that the a/v equipment didn’t all function. The home has an in-home audio system throughout all the e rooms but it didn’t work the entire time we were there. The projector downstairs was one thing we were excited about but you could only watch the 7-8 cable channels-we were unable to stream any movies or live tv through streaming services like Netflix or Hulu which was disappointing because we wanted to watch Christmas movies and football on the huge screen. But overall, we had a fantastic few days and would recommend especially if you need a lot of space for multiple families!

Reviewer Comments: Our family of 10 enjoyed their stay at Bliss for our son’s autumn wedding. Bliss is gorgeous inside with plenty of room to house a large group. It offers breathtaking views out of floor to ceiling windows. It has a fabulous well equipped kitchen, a wonderful cozy hearth fireplace, a screened in porch and fairly comfortable beds. Be sure to bring extra towels and your own hangers. The home offers many lovely bathrooms on 3 levels of the home and a fun game room on the lower level. Leatherwood Resort offers a beautiful rustic setting with outdoor activities and a no hassle check-in and check out. Be sure to bring all your meal needs when you check in as the closest grocery store is a half hour away. There’s only one small restaurant on site at Leatherwood which could not accommodate our group of 30 rehearsal dinner guests but we were able to host at Bliss using Saddle-brook grill delicious and reasonable cost catering. The owners were wonderful. They were friendly and helpful in planning our wedding weekend. We would recommend Leatherwood to anyone who enjoys a rustic but comfortable setting.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Bliss Mountain Lodge was the perfect size house for our family of 8. (Each grandchild had their own room!) Everything was very clean and well-maintained. We had some difficulty with the electronics, but a nice young man from the property management came and did his best to get things going. It would be nice if they made the electronics a little easier to use in that house. I gave the general condition four stars because a few of the games machines in the game room were not working at all. Otherwise we had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. We had a wonderful guide leading our horse ride and we enjoyed eating at the restaurant. Plenty of seating (inside and out) and a good variety of selections on the menu. We would definitely return and highly recommend this beautiful home in Leatherwood Mountain.

Exceptional Home!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Last weekend before school started back for grandkids. Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend at Bliss Mountain/Leatherwood! Girls went trail riding twice and we played tennis and enjoyed cooling off in the river. We brought all our food and enjoyed cooking in the top of the line kitchen...very well equipped and being a cook, I really appreciated the All-clad cookware and Thermadore range!The game room was a nice bonus and we enjoyed the pool and ping pong tables. The views were amazing and comfortable beds. Home was clean and comfortable. Be aware that the home is about a 15 minute trek up from check in and that you want to plan your trip accordingly. Also, make sure you bring what you need as there is really not even a convenience store within 30 min of house. Thanks for a great stay!

Great Experience

Would definitely revisit and recommend to friends. We enjoyed the tennis courts and pool located on the extensive property. The sound system to listen to music was not functioning - this was misleading as the app even had videos on how to set up and use the 3 story audio system. Otherwise a perfect stay!

Amazing!

My friends and I had a wonderful time at Bliss cabin! The cabin was absolutely gorgeous! Very clean and had everything we needed! We were very comfortable and will definitely come back to stay!
