The Beach Cottage has more of a cabin atmosphere than a cottage, which we loved. Everything is as shown in the liting photos and as depicted in reviews. We enjoyed our stay so much we are planning a return visit next year!

We loved this little cottage. It offers privacy and your own slice of beach! The furniture in the living room could be upgraded to make it a little more comfortable but the bed are good. Out back its woodsy with a beautiful beach view and clean beautiful beach with clear water. Quite a few stairs to get to the beach but worth it. A perfect relaxing place. Right off the highway and easy to get to.

The cottage was situated on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan with a beautiful view and beach-couldn't be in a better location. The cottage itself was a little on the shabby side but fine other than the middle bedroom bed, which was pretty saggy in the middle-not great for 2 people.

The location was perfect and the views were spectacular. The property fit my family just fine and we had an amazing week. I would suggest adding additional cookware...specifically cooking pans as we could not find any. Also the grounds could use a cutting and the AC unit is packed with leaves which will hurt the efficiency.

We had a great time at this beach house. The beach is right by the house, but there are a decent amount of stairs to get down there. The beach was really nice and quiet. The views of the lake were spectacular, especially at sunset. The house overall was really good, just a bit outdated. We also lkved the location and close proximity to Saugatuck. We would definitely stay again.

Perfect beach getaway!

House and location exactly as described! Perfect location right on a private beach, with not too many stairs. House had everything we needed, and property manager was very responsive when we needed some questions answered quickly! Will definitely come again! Traveled with our family of four (myself, husband, 3 year old son, 12 week old daughter).

Jewel of a lakefront cottage

This is a beautiful little cottage with a million dollar location on Lake Michigan. It is marketed for 6 people. I can't give it 5 stars, because it is equipped for 3. The beds are new and very comfortable. The sheets and towels are very nice. However, the cabin is very dirty. Floors are sandy. The foldout couch had cereal, sand and candy in the bed. The shower curtain liner was filthy and the shower head was practically useless. The drains backed up immediately. The kitchen is poorly stocked with dishes and silverware. Ex; we made chili for five women and had 4 bowls. There is comfortable seating for three people. The livingroom couch and one chair, or the aged wicker furniture on the porch. There is seating by the firepit in the pictures, however I called local mgmt and was told, there is no seating. So we didn't use the firepit. After all of this, this is a lovely little cottage and now that I've been there will definately book another stay. The stairs and seating by the beach are lovely and the views are incredible!

Great beach vacation

Great location on Lake Michigan. Beautiful sunsets every night. The house was clean, with a well stocked kitchen and towels for bathrooms. Could use a few more kitchen towels.

Beautiful beach and sunsets, cleanliness needs improvement

We stayed over the July 4th holiday with our family including 2 elementary aged kids. We loved the beach, which felt often times like we had it to ourselves. The kids hunted for sea glass and Petoskey stones while we relaxed just feet away. The sunsets were amazing. The house itself is a bit rustic and in line with the pictures. The house is adequate if it were appropriately cleaned and maintained. Our stay could have been improved with better management of this home. The lawn was more than a foot high, there were weeds growing through the beach steps posing a safety hazard (we addressed the steps ourselves as well as a good portion of the lawn to make it more usable). Ants were in the kitchen, there are piles of sand under the living room rug, and thank goodness we didn’t need the pullout couch as dirt and old chicken nugget remnants were under the cushions (we cleaned that too). Vacasa needs to put more effort into this home. When addressed, this is a 5 star rental.

Better than expected!

The view is phenomenal, right on the lake but it’s high above the water which makes the view even better. And private access to an adorable landing with chairs about 3/4 of the way down to the beach. We had the best time grilling out and hanging by the fire pit and watching the sunset. I would recommend bug spray, there are bitey little black bugs to contend with but other than that, highly recommended!

Innacurate listing and needs renovation

There is only one reason to stay here, the lake. Great location but house needs some serious work. Dishwasher was hard to use because of broken silver ware baskets and it moved all over the place when you try to close door. Beds in two bedrooms are doubles, NOT queens, according to tag on mattress. Showerhead in one bathroom barely worked. Not enough blankets, sand everywhere. Also we found items previous guests left so makes you wonder how well it was cleaned. Living room furniture dirty/stained/damaged. There are a lot of vacation rentals in the area, so avoid this one.

Cute cabin

Came for a wedding in Saugatuk. Enjoyed making a fire inside, having a lake view and the farms/ciders near by. The only complaint is that the beds were too soft.

Lake Michigan Beach Home

Location is beautiful private beach surrounded by woods. Lovely. Home is comfortable, but could use some throw rugs to catch all the sandy surrounding soil. Wished that it came with some boogie boards for the surf. The shower and sink in the larger bathroom did not work. the Sink would not drain, and the shower flipper was missing. We notified VACASA as soon as we noticed this. Daily texts back and forth, but they NEVER came to fix it. We were there for 5 nights. This was an inconvenience. VACASA did give me a $166.50 refund, but in my opinion, the overall EXTRA fees that VACASA adds to the price of this property is NOT worth it.

Beautiful views

Wonderful location with beautiful views. The oven didn't work so that put a damper on some food items. Alot of steps to the beach! I did not realize this the pictures did or info did not reveal this. It would have been nice to know. Limited mobility friend couldn't get to the beach. I would highly recommend it for physically able persons.

Nice location, beatifull view of sunset, needs more cleaning

We loved the stay in the cottage: very nice view of the lake, nice landing in the middle of staircase, and beach is nice, but kind of short; not good if you like long walks on the beach. Also floors and rug in living room was very dirty. You cannot walk in the cottage bare foot, dirt is everywhere. For the money they charge for this place it should be spotless.

Beautiful Property - Serene

This property is special. Serene and beautiful. The home is light and airy and lots of places to sit that are comfortable. We used it as a writers retreat and for that is was pretty close to perfect. The shore was by turns desolate and perfect for inward reflection and at others, vibrant with magical multicolored sunsets. Just one note, and I realize others have stated this in their reviews: two of the beds in the small bedrooms are not queens. They are fulls. The bed in the master bedroom is a queen. All this was fine for us, but it's not true that they are all queen size beds. I would love to come back here. It was a splendid weekend.

Scenery was GREAT—firewood provided—GREAT!

We chose this property because of the outdoor area fire pit & being on Lake Michigan. Did not disappoint. Inside a little disappointing. Both baths need new shower heads, no hot pads in kitchen, kitchen stoppers broken, no soap sample size for showers, middle bedroom window wall has a distinct urine smell. Pet??

Great location, outdated property

This is an absolutely amazing location. You’re right on the water, neighbors are close but not too close, and a beautiful staircase with sunset lookout and beach access. There is a grill and outdoor equipment, too. The property itself is outdated, and since it is run by a rental company, it’s hard to communicate with the owners. (I tried several times to contact before my trip through VRBO messaging, and was unable to get a response. The only way I could get a response was to find the contact info of the rental company for the property. Even then, the contact was spotty, as they told you to text and sometimes it would take hours for a response, or you’d have to nudge them again. The property has 3 beds and 2 showers, but only one shower turned on, and the one that did was in the main bedroom. So to use the shower, you’d have to disturb those guests. We tried for an hour to turn on the other shower for an hour, it simply doesn’t work. The dishwasher needs to be replaced, and one of the beds is so uncomfortable and shoved against a wall. It completely sinks when you lay in it (it’s also a full, not a queen). This could be an amazing property, but not until it gets a little TLC. One thing my family and I love about VRBO is interacting with the hosts, so be warned that this is a managed property and that personalization is not there.
