"Room was adequate, the heated towel rail was on the other side of the bedroom wall so the bedroom was uncomfortably hot, even at night - but the wife preferred this. The bed was quite firm and a good size. It was difficult to view the TV screen from the settee on the back wall. Tea (Yorkshire) and coffees were plentiful - not so much biscuits. Full English, plus cereals, juice, toast and tea/coffee refills welcome."

"Do not use the postcode alone as it takes you further up the road to the wrong property. Only stayed for 2 nights while we did the big hike marathon but the property was very nice, it could do with a little TLC for minor things on the decor but nothing that really bothered us. Very close to Bakewell & a lovely pub over the road with nice food & service. Bit tight on parking but we managed to get on no problem. All in all a lovely stay & would like to return again."

"The pub/hotel itself has walls of awards for food, so you can be sure of a good meal. The room itself was (I guess) a converted stable at rear of the building. Charming little room with a shower room upstairs. Very comfortable and great for what we wanted, a short break for a couple with dog. Hathersage is only 3/4 mile along the road with pavement, or alternative footpath across fields. We did the 6 mile Jane Eyre walk from the village up onto Stanage Edge."

The wait staff was exceptional as well. The food was excellent, the setting idyllic, and location walkable to The Chatsworth House! "The room was very beautiful and clean. Staff was incredibly welcoming and kind, and helped us with our heavy luggage without hesitation. Within five minutes of our arrival, we were welcomed with fresh tea, and our room had complimentary cakes! They supply a fan in the room too, which is helpful for anyone that needs some airflow for comfort. We had breakfast in the morning and the food was delicious and fresh. "Unfortunately no staff on reception at any time so no help when you need it. Had to find my own key to the room when arriving late as no porter around. Food very good though and room clean"
