The house was nice away from everything, like we wanted. The creek on all sides was refreshing. My husband enjoyed fishing. It was the relaxing time the family needed for Thanksgiving. Was a little disappointed that a few amenities listed weren’t working or available (mostly the pizza oven).The host is absolutely amazing and would highly recommend. Any issue that we had she was easily contacted and responded in reasonable time.

Thanksgiving

We had such lovely time for Thanksgiving week. Even though it was chilly, the kids ran around outside, played ping pong, dipped their feet in the creek, and were tired and happy at the end of the day. We did some local hikes and mostly ate at home. The kitchen had everything we needed. We loved being away from busy streets and lots of people. We had kids age 10 months - 10 years and everyone had space to sleep and play well. I am hopeful we'll be back either again in Fall or another season.

Elijay Retreat

This was our second stay here, and it was just as enjoyable as the first. Still a great place to relax- very private and a perfect place to let the kids run around, fish, tube, and swim. Kim was a great host as usual and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended!

Unique and amazing property

We've stayed in vacation rentals all over north Georgia, and this one has moved onto my "favorites" list! As others have noted, the pictures don't do it justice. Beautiful grounds with interesting seating areas, a pond with a dock, and a beautiful creek winding through the property. The house is also fabulous, with the best-stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a rental. Even in the July heat, the covered outdoor seating area was comfortable with the overhead fan going; we spent a good bit of time out there, as well as IN the creek sitting in comfy Adirondack chairs! Kim, the owner, was incredibly responsive and wonderful to work with. Highly recommended--we will be back!

Nature and creature comforts combined!

If you enjoy the outdoors, rushing creek waters and wide open spaces... But also want the comforts of a home with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, great indoor and outdoor living and dining spaces, this is the place! Can't say enough good things about this huge property with built in entertainment for kiddos and adults and all the comforts of home - we enjoyed exploring and playing from morning to evening in the creek, the pond, the lawn, the game room, on the deck and in the house. We cooked all meals, inside and out (grill), including s'mores on the open fire pit. A really special place.

Spectacular Get-away by the Creek

This was my second time to visit. The furnishings are beautiful and make it feel so cozy. We enjoyed the fireplace inside and the outside fire table by the creek. Excellent place to relax and enjoy nature.

Relaxation Paradise

From the soothing sounds of the stream meandering through the property to the quiet warmth of the evening fire emanating from the fire table, this place is the perfect relaxation setting. You won’t want to leave it. Kim was a wonderful, attentive communicator, just a great host. We appreciated the cookies and croissants as well!

Beautiful

This was our first trip to Ellijay and it was fantastic. My son wanted to take a trip to the mountains for his graduation gift and reviews of the north Georgia mountains made it seem like a perfect destination. Ellijay itself is a lovely little town and is situated in a prime location near other cute mountain towns and convenient to a number of great hiking trails, apple orchards, parks and other attractions. This property was perfect for us! The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The stream that wraps around/through the property is clear and cool and the sounds are amazing. My sons fished for trout in the stream and the pond. We all enjoyed floating in the stream, s'mores by the fire pit, lounging in the sun, lounging on the deck, baking homemade pizzas in the pizza oven and taking walks around the property. Inside, the kitchen was very well stocked, the furnishings were lovely, the beds and bedding were super comfy. It was such a peaceful setting and exactly what were hoping for. Kim was very prompt with responses and super helpful as was Herman. We most definitely intend to return!

Magical mountain retreat w/stream & pond

From the start, we had great communication with the property owner. who reached out proactively to see if we had any questions. Check in was a breeze but we heard from her again to make sure all was well. When we had a minor problem with the dishwasher, she responded immediately and then we also met the very helpful and friendly caretaker, who was a great source of local information. Between the two of them, we had fantastic info about the history of the property, local tips and great recommendations for activities. But we mostly stayed right on the gorgeous property, aside from a few hikes (and a quick swim in Carter Lake) and picking up food to cook in the amazing chef’s kitchen or to eat on the stunning back deck. The musical sound of the water was a constant backdrop and the water was crystal clear and cold. Creek hikes were a favorite activity as was fishing (we caught both trout and bass) and croquet. We had a fire in the wood fire pit (marshmallow skewers were provided) and floated in the pond, and everyone made rounds of the various hammocks. The beds, linens, towels and blankets were all top quality and the interior decor was gorgeous but also comfortable—just perfect in every way. We loved the ice maker, the coffee bar (fully stocked), the plentiful bar ware, the pizza oven and the grill. Friends visited us one Saturday and called the next day to see if they could come by again just for a few hours—they said it was more than worth the drive to spend a few more hours at this magical location!

Peaceful vacation in a perfect setting

We recently returned from our trip to Kim's home in Ellijay. It was our first time in the mountains of North Georgia and we will definitely be back. The home delivered on all its promises and the existing reviews were both helpful and accurate. The inside is gorgeous, tastefully decorated and comfortable. My mother and I enjoyed cooking many dinners for my two sons (ages 7 & 9), husband, father and brother in the well appointed kitchen. It's rare to find double ovens and a gas range in a rental property! We spent hours on the back covered deck enjoying the sounds of the stream and occasionally catching a playoff game on the TV. The property was fantastic. So many areas to relax at and so much to explore. Our boys fished for hours and caught bass in the lake as well as trout in the stream. On the warmer days they enjoyed adventuring in the stream and cooling off in the deeper sections. The towns of Ellijay and Blue Ridge were fun to explore. There are many hikes in the area, zip lining, wineries and great restaurants. The home and vacation exceeded our expectations on all levels!

Perfect holiday home

This house has everything. We brought few things with us like frying pan or knives but we didn’t have to. There is absolutely everything, even spices!! We spend most of the time sitting outside on the beautiful deck. The creek floating just next to the house was like a relaxing music. Very sweet Ellijay town , just few min away was an extra addition to this place. From this place we could go to the small beach, many trails , an awesome dam and mountains. Property owner was so accommodating and always on top of everything. We had small problem with air condition and she took care of immediately, no time was wasted!!! Perfect owner!!! We loved very much our stay and if the opportunity comes we will be back there for sure!!! Kim, thank you again for your home!! De Bree Family.

An amazing mountain/River retreat

The property manager and care taker were flawless. They had actually installed a new bridge before our arrival that was an impressive job. The water in the river and pond were crystal clear and made for some great fishing, swimming, and family fun. The property and home were in great condition and made for some fun adventures. The home is right on the river and it winds through the property giving you several options to get your feet wet or relax in the cold mountain water. The porch with the gas fire pit was very nice and relaxing. Plus you have outside and indoor table options for meal time. Ample hammocks around the property as well as several seating areas around the property and along the river. The kitchen was well equipped and they also have a nice propane grill and propane pizza cooker on the lower deck. It seems strange to add but we usually bring bottled water and did on this trip but the house water from the tap was cold and amazing. The kitchen has a stand alone ice maker as well. The good smaller pieces of ice. One note of caution is to arrive slow. The driveway is hard to see from the road as it is a very steep grade right off the road. Our front wheel drive van handled it ok though. Peaceful, quiet, safe, relaxing, close enough to town, nature fun for the family.... We hope to return again and again!

Beautiful place for our small wedding

Kim was amazing and allowed us to have my daughters small wedding (20 people) at her property after our booked venue cancelled three weeks before her wedding. Everything was as pictured and described. House was nicely appointed and organized. We enjoyed every sitting spot at the property! Would definitely recommend for a small wedding or a nice family vacation. Oh yeah ... the homemade croissants and chocolate chip cookies were a nice touch😀

Amazing property with rushing brook surrounding the home. So many outdoor places to enjoy! The rushing water is so beautiful and relaxing. Very comfortable one level home. Comfy beds. Fabulous getaway

Beautiful Cabin with Amazing Property

The cabin was super clean when we arrived, everything was fresh and full of amenities. The open layout interior and variety of outdoor spaces make this listing a perfect space for gathering. Plenty of room to cook in the kitchen and there were even chocolate chip cookies waiting for us! The beds were comfortable and the fireplace made for very cozy days and evenings. When you look at the pictures and say "this place looks wonderful!", you'll be saying the same thing when you arrive. Would love to stay here again!

Oasis in the mountains

From the moment we pulled down the driveway, we knew we'd hit a homerun. Upon walking in the house, everything met the description online, including fresh croissants. The house is located close enough to downtown Ellijay and Blue Ridge for morning adventures. The land allowed for the children to play while the adults could watch over them from the deck, enjoying the sounds of the rushing creek and beautiful scenery. The outdoor firepit was perfect for the late afternoon and the indoor fire place provided a great atmosphere for family time in the evenings. The kitchen was well supplied and made cooking as easy as being at home. This house easily accommodated 5 adults and 3 children. It exceeded our expectations- so much so that we are contemplating a return in the summer.

wonderful experience

We absolutely loved our stay at this lovely place! The grounds and the property are amazing with so many different areas to explore. We never left the house at all during our weekend stay. Kids loved exploring the pond, the creek and the different games and so on that are all over the property, while adults spent most of the time on the lovely back porch. The house is very comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. Would love to come back again.

Ellijay for your stay!

Rented this property for myself and some friends for a weekend getaway/birthday celebration. This property provided the perfect backdrop for many laughs and memories that we will remember for years to come. The pictures do not do this hidden gem justice!!! There is a small creek that surrounds the property so when step outside on the covered deck for your morning coffee you can enjoy the relaxing sounds of nature at her very best. The house is well maintained and clean we had zero issues during our stay. Kim, the owner was available if we had any questions and responded promptly. If your looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and step into nature and relax then look no further! We will be coming back!

Such a great rental

We picked this rental for a quick weekend vacation with small group of family. I was just hoping to have a clean and comfortable house for us to spend some time together, but we found this house to be so much more than we expected! The furnishings in the house are so thoughtfully done. Every room has tons of seating and lots of little touches to make you feel comfortable. The fire place in the living room and the fire pit on the deck were wonderful. The beds were extremely comfortable and made it easy to sleep in. The land around the home is also lovely, with the house situated in a wooded area next to a large running stream. Out of everything, I think our favorite feature was the kitchen. The home includes an open, modern kitchen with every tool and utensil you could possibly want. It has two ovens, a gas stove, stainless steel cookware, and a large grill in the back. Everything worked as expected, and we cooked an excellent rib dinner our second night in the house. I'm so happy we found this rental on short notice. It's probably my favorite I've booked on VRBO. I'll be sure to book it again!

Great stay, beautiful property and charming house!

We had a great time at Kim’s house, she was a wonderful host, incredibly communicative, helpful and available for any questions we had. The property was beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. We had a small incident with my husband stepping on glass our first night in the kitchen (nothing was broken by us so it must have been old). Kim was very apologetic. Other than that we really enjoyed ourselves.

One of the BEST properties and places EVER!!!

I preface my review by saying I am picky about where we stay. The listing and pictures just can’t do this place justice! You have to be there to fully appreciate how beautiful this property actually is. My husband and I took our 3 kids (13,12,8) for a long weekend. I would’ve stayed longer, much longer, if we had time. The creek was very low when we went but we played in it and found lots of fish, crawfish, snails. I took beautiful pictures of the kids on the rocks in and on the creek. We will be going back in the spring when the creek is up bc there are tubes there to float around the property. It’s like a la y river all the way around the property. There are several areas set up to roast marshmallows (they even have the skewers hanging on a tree for you) with fire pits. There’s several hammocks hung around the property. My daughter loved taking a blanket and a book and enjoying the hammock and the noise from the creek. The pond was cold when we went BUT my children still got on the duck and rowed to the other side and back. I’m sure they will be in the pond in the Spring/Summer. My kids fished from the dock. If you’re a serious angler, you can drive to public fishing close by but my youngest loved the small blue Gill and trout. There’s a few large open flat areas for games, which are already there (horse shoes, badminton, and whatever). My son brought his football to toss. There’s lanterns and lights strung throughout the property. The house was stocked with EVERYTHING you could need..... or want. She even had several small flashlights at the foyer. I’m a planner/packer but really didn’t need anything bc she had thought of everything. The house is beautiful! There’s a cabin feel but vintage/stylish decor throughout. Again, I’m pretty picky but this place was clean, modern, comfortable, and functional. I always pack extra throws bc not sure how often the extra linens get cleaned. Not here. Everything was clean, even smelled good. I usually have to make a couple of trips to the store when we go to the mountains. I made one trip for a few groceries, that’s it. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you she was so thoughtful. The back porch was a favorite. There’s a big screen tv with a deep couch and fire pit table. My kids loved sitting out there. Kim was so easy to work with. She responded immediately or very quickly. She really just wants you to enjoy your stay. It’s almost like visiting family. We’ll be back, hopefully soon.
