Bed Bugs and Terrible Customer Service from VRBO
Upon arrival, we noticed that the villa number that they confirmed was different from the villa number they had us stay in. The pool was foggy/not clean or swimmable. After our first night, we discovered **bed bugs**—I have photo evidence of both my bites and the bugs themselves. We immediately reported this to VRBO host who tried to be accommodating (saying they would get a new mattress and bomb the house). Being unaware of how many bugs there were and if they were in other bedrooms, this was an health risk we were not willing to take. We contacted VRBO and were told to book a hotel, assured we'd be refunded. Instead, the host only gave us a partial refund for 3 out of 5 nights, despite the fact that we stayed just ONE night, with our luggage exposed the entire time during the second night while we were trying to sort out our situation.
To make matters worse, VRBO **denied our refund** after promising to cover it. I have email proof of their false assurances. We were left to deal with the stress, extra expenses, and risk of bringing bed bugs home.
**Avoid VRBO listings at all costs as they says they will be helpful but end up leaving you to deal with the mess and headache.
