Our home is less than a 10 minute drive from downtown Dartmouth, and 20 minutes from downtown Halifax. Dartmouth Crossing is 15 minutes away. We are not located downtown, but that’s part of the appeal. We provide a private and quiet location which is very close to Halifax and Dartmouth!

Cafés, shops, groceries, the boardwalk, and the beach are all a short drive away, and the nearby Shearwater Flyer Trail is great for hiking.

About the space

This bright, immaculately kept living area comes with its own private bathroom, set on a quiet, well-maintained wooded lot. Step out onto the private deck to soak up the afternoon sun overlooking the yard.

Note: Our home has stairs, so it isn’t well-suited for guests with mobility limitations. Pets aren’t permitted, and for safety reasons we don’t allow stovetops, BBQs, camp stoves, candles, or any open flame in the suite — there’s no built-in stove.

Just down the road from Shearwater Air Force Base, this space works especially well for military families and friends visiting the base — and just as well for anyone craving a peaceful, natural setting with the city still close at hand. Check-in is fully self-serve and secure.

We’re respectful of your privacy and keep a low profile — we’re around if you need a hand with bags or anything else, but otherwise we’ll leave you be. Your bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchenette are all private; the laundry room is the one shared space.

Enjoy the rainfall showerhead for a spa-like touch, and help yourself to the soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate we leave stocked. Laundry facilities are yours to use anytime, and the Wi-Fi is quick and reliable.

Parking is free in our paved driveway, which is covered by a security camera for your vehicle’s safety — note that the interior of the home has no cameras, to protect everyone’s privacy. The TV is ready for streaming: log into your own accounts (all the major apps are pre-installed) or use YouTube free of charge.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

A Tim Hortons is under a 5-minute walk away — handy for a coffee or bite on foot. Fisherman’s Cove, a charming harbourside village with a boardwalk and year-round beach, is just 5 minutes by car. Groceries are also about 5 minutes away by vehicle in Eastern Passage, where you’ll also find a pizza place, Mexican takeout, Subway, A&W, gas stations, a liquor store, and fresh seafood spots down at the Cove.

Heads up: if a train is blocking Hines Road, just head two streets over to Morris Avenue (about a minute’s drive) — the tracks don’t cross there, so it’s always a clear detour.

GETTING AROUND BY TRANSIT

A bus stop sits at the end of the road on Main Road, about a 5-minute walk. Route maps and schedules are posted on the Halifax Transit site and also available in the room.

The 6B (Eastern Passage) and 6C (Heritage Hills) buses both stop nearby and connect to the Woodside and Alderney ferry terminals, where you can transfer to routes across Dartmouth and Halifax. Buses run from as early as 5:15 a.m. to as late as 1:30 a.m. Fares (transfers included) run $3 for adults, $2.25 for youth/seniors, and free for kids under 12.

From there, it’s a quick 5-minute drive to the Woodside ferry or 10 minutes to the Alderney ferry — both cross straight into downtown Halifax and make for a scenic first-timer’s introduction to the harbour.
