Completely Remodeled Ski in/Ski Out condo - Amazing Views and Great Deck

Our 1 bedroom, 1.5 bath single-level condo at East Rim (Unit C-11) was just completely remodeled and is located right across from Purgatory Lodge and offers the ultimate convenience in all seasons. The condo features amazing views of the Needles Range and Spud Mountain. East Rim is centrally located to the main skier plaza and is just a short walk to the fastest and biggest high speed lift on the mountain, Purgatory Express. This property is unique because it is just a step away from the hustle and bustle, restaurants, shops and skiing amenities of the primary base village at Purgatory Resort, but it offers a more private and quiet existence with views that cannot be beat.

Bed Configuration:
Bedroom 1 - King with TV and Ensuite Bath(main floor)
Main Living Space - Double Sleeper Couch (See photo)

There is a full bathroom as well as a washer and dryer (laundry detergent provided) and a BBQ gas grill on the deck.

This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay).

Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

The 4% resort fee included in the quote is the required resort fee that must be charged and does not allow access to the Durango Mountain Club. For an additional (and optional) 4% resort fee, you will have access to the Durango Mountain Club includes an outdoor heated pool with slide, outdoor hot tub and workout facility.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

The ski slopes were about 100 feet walk up a small hill directly in front of the unit. You could also access through the condominium at the base, but this was a longer walk. If there had been fresh snow, you could have probably skiied right down to the unit at the end of the day, but we didn't have any new snow.

The locations is superb, obviously, but there are two things I found lacking in the property description that would have changed my mind about renting here had I known beforehand. Don’t make my mistake. First, this is a lower/first floor unit which is not in the description at the time of writing this review (I hope they add it!). It has paper thin ceilings with hard squeaky floors upstairs, so we heard every move the neighbors made, including their conversation and even opening drawers in the kitchen! It was unbelievably, unacceptably loud. We only rested when they weren’t home or were asleep. We were literally on the neighbors’ schedule which was a major bummer. The unit also has a ton of street noise. It’s located across from a truck access to the resort, and right next to a dumpster that got emptied loudly and frequently…lots of big trucks idling and backup beeping. Secondly, the unit only sleeps 2 adults comfortably in the king sized bed. The bedding in the living room consists of one small, cruddy, lumpy futon. The other couch is a loveseat that doesn’t fold out. Unless they change the foldout situation in the livingroom there is no way this unit fits 4 adults. Beware! It totally messed with our family’s sleeping arrangements with the tiniest person (mom, unfortunately) having to stay on the lumpy futon, while the two big tall teens got the bedroom. Argh. The unit was nice; however as I mentioned I would have chosen not to rent it if I knew these two things.

Beautiful Views; Great Location

Views were gorgeous and place was clean; however, we noticed a smell—maybe just musty—upon entering the property. Property management was responsive when we reached out on day two of our three-night stay, and they offered a couple of solutions. Ended up staying the full three days, but were not quite able to remedy the smell.

Nice condo right next to slopes

Clean and well kept with everything we needed for our stay. No real complaints. Would be nice if furniture was a bit smaller - the big pieces made the space feel a little cramped, but that was minor and we definitely enjoyed our stay.

Very good option

Great location, not really ski in ski out, but very close. The appartment was generally and mostly clean, but silverwear and pot and pans where not, we had to wash them before use. Maybe some vacuming to get rid of the cat hair would be good as well, but generally we did enjoy it. Also, the grill didnt have any gas so we werent able to use it. Small issues but generally very good option, and at a very good price. Host very easy to reach and quick replys.

Nice, but cramped

We enjoyed our stay here, but the living room arrangement was cramped with too much furniture that was too large for the space. We had to walk around sideways to be seated. The coffee pot didn’t brew even after I tried to clean out the scale. Otherwise, the kitchen was nice and equipped well. I purchased a 5 cup Mister Coffee in Durango that suited us well, and brought it with us to our next rented condo in case we encountered the same situation. We enjoyed the porch with a nice view of the San Juan Mountains. We rated it 3.5-4.0 Star overall

Everything was as expected and we received plenty of information before and during our stay to feel well informed about the check-in and check-out. In summer, the location is almost deserted. Which is great if you want quiet, not so great if you crave a spontaneous pizza at night.

Perfect location for long ski weekend!

The location can’t be beat, and the condo was cozy, comfortable, and well stocked. Amazing view of Needles off the deck. We ate great casual dinners at local restaurants (The Lift, The Nugget) and grabbed breakfast and coffee in the Purgatory village deli before full days on the mountain. Great conditions, fun mountain, no crowds! Quick drive to Durango hot springs after skiing was perfect end to big day. Would definitely recommend this unit and would definitely stay there again.

Family Ski Vacation

I will give my pros and cons for this property, Pro Excellent Access to Lifts and Base Village Excellent Communication with Property Manager Easy Entry to Unit, Keyless Entry Comfortable for a family with two small kids Washer/Dryer in Unit Comfortable King Bed Mattress Nicely Updated Interiors Outside Ski Locker was Helpful Cons -Bottom Floor Unit, upstairs unit was occupied during our visit. At the end of our visit the 6 to 7 people staying upstairs were super loud. We could hear their music, their voices and oh the stomping..... -The dishwasher didn't work well, we just washed out own dishes -There was not enough hot water for each of us to take a reasonable shower -It takes awhile to get hot water in the shower Overall we were happy with our condo, it was clean and comfortable however we will not be staying at a lower level condo again.

Purgatory trip

Overall great stay. Clean property and nicely updated. Great to have two bathrooms. I would probably update the linens that are a little tired and kitchen could use a few more plates and silverware. Location was perfect, just short walk to slopes and Purgatory Lodge. Property managers were very communicative.
