Nota: hay un estanque sin vallar y se abre bien en el jardín a 20 metros de distancia. North Huckham está ubicado en el límite de Exmoor, a poca distancia del pueblo de Bridgetown, y es un destino ideal para aquellos que desean apreciar la belleza y la tranquilidad que esta zona del país tiene para ofrecer. Se accede a la casa por un camino irregular, se encuentra dentro de un gran jardín y tiene vistas a su propio estanque privado. En una tarde despejada, debido al estado de Dark Sky de Exmoor, los cielos se llenarán con el paisaje estelar más asombroso. La ciudad de Dulverton está a poca distancia en automóvil y ofrece una buena variedad de tiendas locales y algunas muy buenas salas de té y restaurantes. Hay un paisaje magnífico y se puede caminar por el sendero de la costa sudoeste o hacia el interior en Exmoor y muchos otros lugares para visitar para hacer unas vacaciones inolvidables. Las aldeas victorianas de Lynmouth y Lynton son famosas por el Watersmeet House del National Trust, con un espectacular valle del río y el ferrocarril Cliff. La ciudad costera de Minehead está cerca, donde encontrará una larga playa de arena y un pintoresco puerto, una buena selección de tiendas y otros servicios. El West Somerset Railway es el ferrocarril de mayor tradición en Inglaterra para aquellos interesados en los motores de corriente. El castillo y el pueblo de Dunster del National Trust, con sus hermosos jardines en terrazas, Deer Park y Mill, son un interesante día de fiesta, así como el Porlock Weir. It's a beautiful cottage with lovely views, very cozy. The only downside (for me) is that the doorways are very low, I lost count of the times I smacked my head on them but then I am 6'3".

Very restful

We had a lovely stay, the house was clean and welcoming, and there was good communication with the owner. Access was a little difficult as there isn’t room to park outside the gate while you shut it and it’s a busy narrow road, and the track is very steep at the bottom. Very low ceilings and door ways were a problem as our son is 6ft 3. We had a few bangs and scrapes. But overall it was a very peaceful stay in a lovely location. Very comfortable beds, and showers were excellent.

Wonderful old house in a gorgeous setting.

Wonderful old house in a gorgeous setting. Not quite the splendid isolation the website description would have you believe, the garden borders that of another holiday cottage and there are three dwellings, including North Huckham, in the valley in which it is situated. Nevertheless it is still a beautiful and peaceful spot, the grounds are beautifully kept and there is lots of space. Owner incredibly helpful with provision of instructions and directions beforehand and the cottage is well looked after and very welcoming. Lots of places to visit within reasonable driving distance, suggest you come prepared with food stocks although no amenity is really too far away if you have a car. A great cottage well away from the traffic and which cannot be seen from the road due to the dip in the valley. The cottage is at the end of a track which is quite steep at the bottom. A very quiet and relaxing location with beautiful scenery. The garden is on a slope and has a stream running through it leading to a pond with resident ducks. Walks from the doorstep and plenty of places of interest to visit nearby. The owner was very friendly and kept us informed of the bad weather a few days prior to our arrival. We loved our holiday at the cottage but won’t be for everyone as it’s very rural. Loved the peacefulness of the location, hearing and seeing the wildlife on the doorstep, the cottage had everything you would need, the children loved the rowing boat and table tennis table. You are not far from towns and villages and an ideal location to visit places Of interest. We had our shopping delivered when we first arrived so then didn’t have to go out and shop. We loved this cottage so much that we returned for another stay! North Huckham is situated in a tranquil and beautiful area within its own grounds. The cottage itself is charming and has a lot of character. The kitchen is very well equipped, so we were able to self-cater with ease. The rooms are spacious and furnished tastefully, and the owner has thoughtfully provided a library of books for visitors to read if the weather is unkind. Although the cottage is situated in a very quiet area, it is easy to reach shops and restaurants as well as Exmoor and the coast. A fantastic holiday!!! We had a fantastic holiday in a fantastic location. No local amenities were close by, but they were all accessible. Nothing was on the doorstep and that was what we were looking for. Anything we needing we located on our trips out without making any special journeys. For a remote location we were out every day but did a surprisingly small mileage during the week.
