"No need to plan all there for you to enjoy"

"Room was clean and spacious. Bathroom had a jacuzzi bath which, after filling with water we discovered the jacuzzi didn't work. Also the shower head had black mould on it, something that could easily be cleaned. As for the shower, it was old and tired, with water pouring from the waterfall shower head and the handheld shower head simultaneously, and the rather small shower screen ensured a soaking wet bathroom floor. When we arrived back in the evening our room was cold, as the hotel decides...

"The Calton is a lovely hotel, really handy for the town centre and near the beautiful beach. The rooms are lovely and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Im a regular and would thorougly recommend this excellent hotel."

"The Mecure is a walkable distance from the train station, and from its front doors and front rooms one can look right down a main avenue to the Esplanade and the Firth of Clyde. The staff was excellent, helpful, and friendly. Breakfast had a wide choice of buffet items. I also had supper two evenings in the hotel, and the wait staff plus food were very good. The items for vegetarians were fine, but not much was available for vegans. Because of my knee and hip surgeries, I had to ask to change...

"Beautiful row of houses. Close to beach. Parking available outside property on quiet street. Basic room with sink, shared toilet and shower. Nice warm room. Tv, tea, coffee and biscuits. Comfy bed. Bathroom was on another floor, up squeeky stairs. But ok. Breakfast wasn't till 8.30 which is a bit late for me. I was on the road by 7.30. Great value for money."

"I cannot rate the staff at this hotel more. I've travelled for work for years and I've never had better service at a hotel. The team at the Dumfries Arms were exceptional. I can't fault them. My husband and I had a fantastic two night stay, the food at the restaurant was delicious and catered well for my gluten intolerance. "

"I really enjoyed my stay at the Strathaven Hotel. Staff were wonderful and helpful (probably the best at any hotel I have stayed at). The room was clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable (I slept soundly!). The breakfast was included and there’s nothing like a Scottish breakfast! I will definitely return!! Well worth it!"
