"Beautiful old hotel. Very dog friendly. Views are amazing. Bedroom was very large and clean but needs bit of refurbishing. Found bedroom doors were a bit noisy when closing. As the weather was excellent we enjoyed sitting in our balcony relaxing and enjoying the view. Good walks. Great pool and hot tub. "Cottage was clean cosy and comfortable. It is about 15 mins drive to castle douglas. Owners live next door so easy to contact with minor issues. We were familiar with local area as visited frequently before."

"Booked a double room but got a room with 3 single beds. Not the end of the world but not what I booked. Beds were uncomfortable. Mattress was really thin, when you sat on it you were basically sat on the bed base and when you laid on the bed you could feel the springs in your back and side. The walls were wafer thin, you can hear the tap running and toilet etc from the room next door. Also the water in the bathroom made a right racket when you ran the tap, shower or flushed the toilet.
