  • River Cottage is a quintessential country Cotswold cottage which sleeps four guests, in two well-appointed bedrooms, with two bathrooms. On the ground floor you have a stylish open plan kitchen/dining room with access out to the pretty south facing garden, boasting ample outdoor seating which can be enjoyed all year round. The cottage offers a cosy sitting room featuring comfy seating with a wood burning stove and the two characterful bedrooms boast original beams and wooden floors. River Cottage is a dog friendly holiday home, suitable for one medium sized dog, and is a mere ten minute walk from Winchcombe, home to an array of local shops and eateries for you to enjoy.

    This two bedroom holiday cottage on the outskirts of Winchcombe is perfectly suited for those looking to get together with family and friends or as a romantic getaway, ideal for exploring the local countryside and eateries. The Cotswold accommodation is laid out as follows:

    The maximum occupancy for this property is 4 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 2 additional infants (aged 2 or under)

    Off street parking is available for 2 cars in front of the property with additional parking close by
    Travel cots and highchairs are not provided, so guests will need to bring these with them

Winter Stay

We had a wonderful 4 night stay in this lovely cottage and found it to be very clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was there and it felt like a home away from home. The Property Manger was very proactive, friendly and assisted with any queries we had. The garden was fully enclosed which was perfect for our dog. We would definitely stay here again.

A Cotswold dream

Having lived in Winchcombe and grown up there myself and my mum come every year from south coast to get our Cotswold fix. This cottage was perfect location, short walk into Winchcombe and a great base for the surrounding walks in the countryside. Was a very typical Cotswold stone cottage but a beautiful functional open space inside, every detail was considered. Appreciated the separate utility entrance, perfect for muddy dog cleaning. Very cosy and comfortable. Everything we needed. We had the best 5 days!

The accommodation was stylish and immaculately furnished. Garden lovely also. Very quiet but just a short walk into Winchcombe. Really lovely - highly recommend!

Had a great time staying at river cottage. Everything provided. Garden was beautiful,very bee friendly. Beds comfortable and great downstairs shower. Always looks for property with 2 loos . Very quiet area would visit again

Everything you could ask for and more!

The cottage location was a superb base for exploring the Cotswolds with Winchcombe itself a lovely village to walk through and explore. The cottage had the comfiest set-up and had the most amenities we've experienced on a self-catering staycation. Laura was also lovely too and on-hand if we needed anything further. Everything was clean and fresh. Plenty of food/grocery delivery options too which was a bonus for maximising time spent relaxing during our stay. Will 100% be returning.

A beautiful cottage

A beautiful cottage, very well equipped and comfortable. Great location especially for Sudeley Castle but also for sightseeing the wonderful area. The Heritage Railway between Cheltenham Racecourse and Broadway stops in Winchcombe too. Mind the steeps stairs! Some leaflets about the area and local attractions would be a welcome addition. Thank you for a lovely stay.

An enjoyable stay

We had a very pleasant few days at River Cottage which is a beautifully renovated cottage. It was immaculately clean and well furnished. The showers both worked well. Although the information about the cottage referred to some steep stairs to the first floor they are very steep but also narrow in tread and width - not easy with a case. Overall this did not prevent us having a good time but might be difficult for some. It is expensive for what it is in my view.

Excellent cottage in beautiful Cotswold village

River Cottage is a fantastic place to stay. It's clean and fairly well equipped, seeming to have been modernised fairly recently. A few things worth noting: - whilst nominally parking for 2 cars, when we did have 2 cars there, the neighbours complained to the property owner! Probably more realistic to say that there's space for just one car - it is a little over half a mile walk to the shops / pubs, and almost a mile to the Co-op (main food shop in town) - if you're walking the Cotswold Way, it couldn't be much closer (~100m off the path)

Perfect weekend break

Absolutely loved River Cottage. The correspondence we received before our visit was excellent and very informative. You have your own portal to use which has great information about the cottage and local area. The cottage itself is amazing with plenty of space, lovely secure garden and everything that you need for a relaxing stay. The bed was extremely comfortable with plump pillows and a nice large bathroom. Just a short 5 min walk takes you into the centre of Winchcombe with a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. We can recommend the Corner Cupboard Pub, The Old Bakery and the Tipsy Egg. Very good food and service. We cannot wait to return and see more of the surrounding areas and enjoy relaxing in such a beautiful cottage.

Excellent no complaints at all

Having stayed at many cottages throughout the country I can say with confidence this was a stunning cottage with the small details really appreciated. It was very clean and it goes without saying it was very comfortable throughout. We found we used every space with ease and moved around with comfort. We also enjoyed the pub that was recommended in the feedback book left in the cottage, which I cannot remember the name of now but I pretty much had the best pie there that I have ever had. And I love a pie. Thanks to the host too who was brilliant and very accommodating. The only issue I have is with the Stay Cotswold website. It is not the easiest to use and a bit faffy. However, this would not put me off as the quality of cottages is clearly high.

Attention to detail

Unfortunate bits.. We enjoyed our stay,however the house didn’t feel unclean , just not fresh. However the following where unfortunate … Clothes left in both bedrooms Unemptied open bin in small bedroom, which I needed to empty as it was full of used panty liners, which is really not good !! Clumps of dog hair over the kitchen floor, we had no dog ! Didn’t want to walk on grass as it was so long , didn’t know what you would step in , so we didn’t use the garden . Very stale smell on sofa , needed freshening . However , we had all we needed and great location .

Lovely short break

The ease of booking and all the information needed to get to property and get in to the cottage was very helpful. Lovely cosy cottage with everything we needed the beds were really comfortable too had a lovely time .we walked into the village a few times to eat The museum was very interesting lots of information about what the locals got up too

A comfortable base for walking the Cotswolds Way

A warm and very comfortable cottage. Very well equipped, great location for walks straight from the door. Super comfy beds, lashings of hot water and very peaceful. We hope to return. No welcome pack on arrival which we usually find is the norm in holiday cottages but otherwise a wonderful stay.
