Graduation Stay in Champaign
Our family's plans for our son's UIUC graduation changed and we felt very fortunate to find this VRBO option. It allowed our multi-generational group to stay together to celebrate the weekend. We are grateful to have had a place to stay during such a busy weekend, but-While the house is generally accurate to the listing description; the recent renovation was not as complete as the listing implies. The decor was cute, but many areas/fixtures/finishes were untouched by renovation or hastily accomplished. I would describe this property as refreshed on a budget, not renovated. When we arrived, the air conditioning was running but not cooling the home. The temp was 79 degrees despite being set to 73. Due to a domestic disturbance across the street that involved glass audibly breaking, we felt uncomfortable opening the windows. The next morning, our group discovered that the shower in the second bathroom only functioned as a bathtub. The host did not offer to troubleshoot the issues; he asked brief clarifying questions after several hours passed and replied, "Ok Thank you for letting us know". The outside temps cooled the second night to make it tolerable; only a couple rooms had fans. The exterior and yard were not tended in a way that sitting outside felt inviting.Perhaps my expectations were too high because we paid 1640 for 2 nights, but I did expect more. Tip to others: understand the neighborhood before you book & use Google to view the exterior and street.
