Le Miel Cottage Romantic 1923 Forest Escape

Tucked among the trees of Lake Arrowhead, Le Miel Cottage is a lovingly reimagined 1923 home, where the romance of another era meets the simple comforts of everyday living.

Thoughtfully restored and collected by Karen Emile, also known as milkandhoneylife, this intimate 1,000-square-foot cottage welcomes up to six guests into a world of old wood, natural stone, original artwork, handmade treasures, and antiques gathered with love.

Every room tells a little story. Original wood beams stretch overhead, while stone walls, wood floors, delicate textiles, and vintage furnishings preserve the nostalgic character that first drew us to this special place.

Le Miel is not a home meant to feel perfectly polished or untouched. It is a home meant to be lived in, enjoyed, and remembered.

Three Charming Bedrooms

The cottage offers three individually furnished bedrooms, each with its own personality and quiet sense of romance.

The Primary Bedroom

Tucked upstairs, the primary bedroom features a beautifully carved antique wooden bed, soft linens, vintage furnishings, and thoughtfully collected details. A restful little sanctuary that feels as though it belongs to another time.

The Twin Bedroom

Also upstairs, this sweet bedroom features two charming antique twin beds, a sweet little desk nook and whimsical touches. A lovely space for children, siblings, or friends traveling together.

The Downstairs Bedroom

On the main level, a third bedroom offers another peaceful retreat, dressed in soft textiles, antique furnishings, and the warmth of a thoughtfully lived-in home.

Please note that the cottage retains its original steep interior staircase, part of its historic charm. There is also an outdoor staircase that leads to the upper area for those who prefer another option.

One Full Bath & One Half Bath

The cottage features a full bathroom with a vintage clawfoot bathtub, perfect for a slow, unhurried soak after a day spent exploring the mountain.

A charming half bathroom offers an additional washroom with an old-fashioned basin and carefully collected details.

In keeping with the cottage’s historic character, some sinks feature separate hot and cold water taps.

The Heart of the Home | Our Vintage Kitchen

Perhaps one of the most beloved spaces at Le Miel is its unfitted kitchen, inspired by the simplicity and charm of old European country homes.

Rather than conventional cabinetry, you’ll find antique cupboards, open shelving, skirted sinks, vintage dishware, and a collection of useful and beautiful objects gathered over time.

The kitchen features the original antique stove and oven, retro refrigerator, cookware, dishes, and everyday essentials for preparing and enjoying meals together.

Morning coffee can be prepared with our French press, while tea lovers will find simple pleasures waiting for them as well. A conventional coffee maker is available as well.

The adjoining dining area invites guests to gather around the wooden table, share a homemade breakfast, linger over supper, or simply enjoy the ritual of being together.

The Living Room | A Place to Linger

Original wooden ceiling beams, antique seating, lace curtains, and a beautiful original brick fireplace give the living room its unmistakable character.

Curl up with a book, enjoy the warmth of the fire when permitted, or settle in for an evening of conversation.

A television is also available for guests who wish to enjoy a favorite film or program using their own streaming accounts.

Throughout the cottage, you’ll discover original artwork by our son, Aiden, whose work can be found at @throughaidenseyes. His paintings live alongside antiques and handmade pieces, making the home deeply personal to our family.

The Garden | A Little World of Its Own

Step outside into our intimate forest garden, a space lovingly reimagined for slow afternoons and evenings beneath the trees.

An outdoor dining table seats six, inviting everything from leisurely breakfasts to candlelit suppers. You’ll also find garden seating, and the gentle glow of string lights.

Rosemary, lavender and seasonal flowers bring life and fragrance to the garden, while the surrounding trees offer a peaceful mountain backdrop.

It is a place for morning coffee, afternoon reading, quiet conversations, and the simple pleasure of being outdoors.

The Lake & Surrounding Village

Le Miel Cottage is situated in the charming Lake Arrowhead community and the beautiful little pocket known as the Palisades, with access to beautiful forest walks and the nearby lake trail at Gate 8, approximately a three-minute walk from the cottage. We do provide lake passes with your stay.

Spend your days wandering mountain paths, exploring the local villages, discovering antique shops, or enjoying the beauty of Lake Arrowhead.

It has been my honor to reimagine this sweet cottage while remaining faithful to the character and history that first captured our hearts.

The antiques, original artwork, vintage linens, handmade objects, and imperfect little details are not simply decorations. They are part of the story we hope you will experience during your stay.

Le Miel is a reflection of our love for family, creativity, craftsmanship, and the simple beauty of home life.
