"Staff were really friendly. Hotel and grounds were beautiful. Rooms were spotless. They also left a teddy on my daughters bed, which was lovely.the only 2 downsides were the WiFi (room 20) wasn’t reliable, this is fine if you don’t need the internet but if you intend to use it was a bit of pain because there was no mobile signal either. I like that it is a dog friendly hotel, however we had a dog barking most of the night at the hotel."

"We had a great room that was that was perfect for our short stay. The room was clean and comfortable, with a large on-suite. The extra space was needed as we traveled with our dog. The property has lovely grounds to explore and it’s close to pubs. I highly recommend this property. "

"A lovely, quaint and homely guest house with friendly, helpful staff. My room was clean, comfortable, warm and cosy. I was given a guided tour of the breakfast facilities upon check in and then shown to my room. The breakfast itself next morning was delicious and made to order. Rothay Garth is situated right at the heart of Ambleside, with all the local amenities only a couple of minute's walk away. There was also ample free parking on the premises. "We LOVED our stay here! Our room was the “Grand Room, 1 King Bed, Balcony, Garden View” in the newer building and the attention to detail was exceptional. Loved the large comfy bed, our cozy robes, the deep bathtub and accompanying luxury toiletries and bath soaking salts. The WiFi was fast and the staff members were fantastic. It was a close walk into town and close to everything you could want to explore in the Lakes District. Very cool how the hotel provides wellies (Hunter Boots) for guests...

"Very pleasant small property. 5 mins walk from central Ambleside. Well equipped and warm. Perhaps a bit small for a family of 4 but great for two people. Nicely decorated with thoughtful touches. Only one parking space but a car park 4 mins walk down the hill. Would recommend."

"The property was immaculate. Every room was very clean and tidy. Very comfortable for 2 adults, not sure how 4 adults would feel as it might be a bit on the small side, especially if you are tall people as the ceilings are low. Parking might be a bit tricky. There is space outside for one car, although the road is narrow at that point. There seems to be space on the next road along though, or as the owner suggests in the nearby pay carpark. Its handy to walk into Ambleside or down to the lake as...

"Great base, quiet, homely, close to shops and amazing view. The property was just the riht size for the three of us. Easy parking for small to moderate car."

"The stay at the cottage was good. It is positioned on a busy road but it quiets down later at night. There is a shop at the petrol station that has everything you will need for the stay and close to bus tops to take to Ambleside and Windermere. The beds are on the soft side but not uncomfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped but he had to buy paper kitchen towels, bin bags and dishwasher tablets. All in all, our stay was great. We would stay here again. "

"Visable damp on the bathroom wall by the shower and a very strong smell of damp in the downstairs area including bedrooms. The owner tried to disguise the smell with air fresheners and by leaving the windows open but the smell of damp was still immediately apparent on entry. Had we been staying longer than 2 nights and not arrived so late in the evening on the first night we would have left. It was a real shame because everything else about the property and surrounding area was beautiful, but...
