Averette Cottage is a charming, rustic oceanfront home that offers guests breathtaking views and direct beach access. Nestled right on the iconic Carolina Beach Boardwalk, it stands as the only beach cottage in this famous location. With complimentary WiFi, central air and heat, cable TV, and a DVD player, the cottage ensures a comfortable stay while letting you enjoy the coastal ambiance. The property provides parking for up to seven cars, with specific dimensions and areas designated to accommodate compact cars and multiple vehicles under the cottage and beside the sidewalk. Guests can easily rinse off the sand in the convenient outdoor shower located under the property.

The cozy living room is well-equipped with a flat-screen TV, cable, a DVD player, and a ceiling fan, making it the perfect spot to relax after a day on the beach. Step directly from the living room onto the oceanfront deck, where you can take in the stunning ocean views and refreshing sea breeze. The kitchen and dining area provide everything needed for cooking, including a refrigerator, flat-top stove, microwave, and essential appliances like a 12-cup coffee maker, Crock-pot, blender, and dishwasher.

Averette Cottage offers four bedrooms, each designed to maximize comfort and convenience. Bedroom 1 features two full beds with an ocean view and a ceiling fan, while Bedroom 2 includes a full bed and a twin-over-full bunk bed. A hallway bathroom with a tub/shower combo and single vanity sink serves these rooms. Bedrooms 3 and 4 each offer a full bed and a twin-over-full bunk bed, with Bedroom 3 also offering ocean views. An additional bathroom with a stand-up shower and a single vanity sink serves these rooms. Outdoor living is made easy with two street-side decks and one oceanfront deck, providing ample space to enjoy the beautiful coastal surroundings.

*NOTE: Upstairs apartment not included, and will sometimes be occupied by owners. Guests who rent the cottage are not notified of owner use. The parking on the left side of the cottage is for owner use only.*

Great Location and Fair Price

The only downside to this property is the extremely late 4pm check-in. The live bands from the Sea Witch Tiki Bar across the street is extremely loud and actually rattles the widows from 8pm to 12 midnight; but that didn’t really bother us.

Doors that don't open

The house was what I expected. Neither of the storm doors closed properly. The wood exterior on the ocean side was swelled and wouldn't shut. The bathroom door, with the tub/shower, wouldn't shut without pushing it REALLY hard. The windows and doors leaked during the storm.

Sweet Memories

We used to stay at the Averette Cottage when I was younger and decided to go back. It has been updated some, but is an older home. It continues to have great access to the beach and now the boardwalk is easily accessible, which is perfect for walking to pick up Britt’s Doughnuts. The only downside is that there is no view of the beach as the dunes are too high! We still had a wonderful time and made many new memories with the next generation!

Amazing house and location

This house was just what we needed. It was in a great location, right on the beach, and walking distance from multiple shops and restaurants. I really appreciated the clean towels and wash cloths for every guest who was staying. Everything was as described and I was very pleased with the entire stay.

Perfect location!

Our group enjoyed our stay! The location was absolutely prefect. The restaurant across the street did not bother us from a noise perspective. Would have been nice to have more paper products already in the house but it wasn't a big deal. Would visit this house again!

Great location

Loved the location . The only reason I would not stay there is the beds .They were VERY uncomfortable. Even the 5 year old complained one night. Interior was a little run down and repairs that had been done were haphazardly done.

We appreciated proximity to the central beach, as we were there to referee the National Beach Wrestling Championship. From reading previous reviews, we kinda' knew that the bar, across the street would be hoppin'. Wow ! The music does BLAST until midnight ! I think you gouge, a little on your cleaning an d prep fees. Your prep staff needs to see to the "little things"... if you can sleep 16, you may want to leave more than half a roll of toilet paper ! None of the light switches work. If that's not enough, all the lamps are unplugged. This makes no sense. You can get away for charging big, at this location. But... attention to detail is the driving force in this industry !

Amazing stay!

Great location and price!! Super easy to book and get ahold of the rental company if you need to. Will definitely be booking this place again! The only down side is that the beach access door didn’t lock it looked like the lock had been forced open so we had a lot of people use our private access doors.

Moderate Beach Home

This home was the perfect home for a family who doesn't mind a less than pristine home. During our stay, we found at least 6 very large dead cockroaches and a few other smaller dead bugs throughout the home. There was also sand all over the floor and the couches were covered in sand, so you felt dirty everytime you sat down. However, none of the group members were particularly terrified by bugs and roaches, so we did not mind scooping up the dead bugs. The sand was kind of gross, but did make us feel less guilty for tracking in our own sand. The house itself comfortably slept 11 (without anybody sharing a bed). There was plenty of seating in the living room and at the kitchen bar. The kitchen was very well stocked! The leaving instructions instructed us to load and start the dishwasher prior to our departure. On the day of arrival, we looked under the kitchen cabinet to ensure there were dishwasher pods prior to our trip to the store. There were 2 bags of dishwasher pods. On the day of departure, we loaded up the dishwasher and went to put a pod in to start it. Both bags of dishwasher pods were completely empty. The codes for the beach access did not work, but we found ways to work around that. The bar across the street was VERY loud until midnight every night, but because we were a younger group, we did not mind, and tended to join the party, rather than complain about it. The location was phenomenal. The access to the beach was AMAZING. Many restaurants and bars were within 5 minutes walking distance and downtown Wilmington was only a 22 minute Uber away. All in all, I would not rent this home for a romantic weekend getaway, but would absolutely rent this home again for a large group for a casual beach weekend.

No veiw of the ocean even though on the beach and boardwalk.

This house is on the beach, and it is on the boardwalk, but you can't see the ocean from the house. The rental is just the lower portion of the house, which sadly sits below the height of the sand dunes. Also, there is a Tiki bar across the street that plays extremely loud live music until midnight. If you like to party then it might be a great place to stay, but if you have kids plan on having them stay up until after midnight. The house is "beachy" as we expected but it could use a good power cleaning and some fresh paint. The electrical sockets are mostly 2 prong. The air conditioner worked great, so we were comfortable in that regard. The beds were soft, and linens clean. The wifi and cable never worked, so no laptops or TV for us which wasn't too big a deal since there were so many better things to do. The stairs out back need some lighting as two in our group tripped on them at night. The kitchen is loaded and had all we needed except a toaster. The porch swing is a nice touch as it is always in the shade and a good place to get some space. I feel like we may have been the first renters of the summer because everything was unplugged when we arrived, plus there was a slight layer of sticky salt on all surfaces that seemed to indicate that things hadn't been wiped down in a few months. The best part of this place is it's location in the daytime. It is so easy to get to the beach and pop back to the house when you need to. In spite of the few unexpected disappointments, we had a great time being together near the ocean. We just thought since the house is on the beach and boardwalk we'd be able to sit on the deck and see the ocean. That wasn't the case, and so that alone was our biggest disappointment in this place. All else was manageable.
