The Nest at Governor Bond Lake

We stayed at the Nest for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is secluded and quiet for a relaxing time at the lake. The house is well stocked with items you would need for a vacation as well as having ample outdoor activities on site available for use. The lake is very calm and, during our stay, was not very trafficked. Coach was prompt as the property manager with any questions or needs.

Great Family Getaway

This is our second stay at the Nest. We love everything about it. House, Beach, Shade, Outdoor Play Area. The property managers are easy to reach and responsive. Highly recommend a stay here.

This is our fourth summer staying at The Nest. Obviously, we love coming back year after year. The house suits our large family very well, we love the little beach and the boat dock is really great. All our grandchildren can find something to do with the extra games and toys and books all around. This year the yard was the location for family photos! Thank you!!

This house could not have been more perfect. The hosts were amazing and stayed in quick contact during our entire stay. The house had a private beach, and great beds and bathrooms. Pictures do not do it justice! Thank you so much for having us ❤️

Fun For All Ages!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Nest. We were celebrating my parent's 60th wedding anniversary and had 21 guests ranging from 9 months to 84 years old. There is an abundance of activities for all age ranges to enjoy. My 84 year old father even gave the tree swing a try! The weather was perfect for enjoying the beach and the younger kids loved all of the beach toys on hand. There seriously is no shortage of anything from kid-friendly toys to adult games. The house was clean and well appointed with an extremely well-stocked kitchen. We loved all of the outdoor seating areas and multiple decks. We had a blast and the host was incredibly accommodating, answering every question in an extremely timely manner. We would highly recommend this property!

Family vacation 2024

The Nest was a great house for us! Lots of gathering spaces, lots of shade on the house, and a great sunny beach. Many included items helped us all not to pack as much, packnplay's, highchair, crockpot, lots of towels, sand toys, just wonderful! A definite 5 star!

Great home for relaxing and enjoying the water

This place was great for an out of way, relaxing vacation. They absolutely have EVERYTHING available that one could need. Outdoor grill, coffee makers, canoes you can use. There’s table tennis, life jackets. The small private beach is perfect for kids or adults to just relax and play in the water. Do note, that to get to the Walmart or other larger stores is like a 30 min drive and best to do it in the daytime, as most of the small roads that u will take are not lit.

Property was well maintained. The place can accommodate infants to adults.

Once we arrived there was something foot everyone. The property had choices an enjoyable beach, dock for pontoon, swings and hammock, fire pit, yard to play ball and hoop for basketball. We enjoyed it all. The kitchen accommodation was amazing for our group. The porches were roomy. I believe at least three balls went down into the tree slop perhaps into to lake. The toilet positions were interesting a couple of them wouldn’t allow the door to close when sitting.

Family fun!

We had a fabulous time! This place was huge with so much seating and sleeping options. Tons of games and well stocked pantry. Would totally go here again. Water was perfect temperature and fire pit was used every night. Wi fi was spotty but other than that, it was perfect for our group.

Family fun

Beautiful and spacious property

Property was beautiful and spacious. Property manager was very prompt to respond to our questions and very helpful. We stayed during winter holidays so we did not get to make use of the outdoor activities, but the whole family enjoyed our stay.

I had a wonderful stay. The property was very well equipped with everything we needed and then some. The freezer was a nice surprise. The private beach was a big hit with all the guests. We took full advantage of the many outdoor spaces. The gas grill made grilling easy.

Great Weekend with Extended Family

Our extended family loved this property. We have stayed in several VRBO's in Southern Illinois, and this by far has been the best one. The kitchen was well stocked. Having beach toys and beach towels, as well as adult outside games was an extra bonus. We LOVED this property, the property managers were accommodating and easy to work with. We will definitely be back.

Great vacation

Perfect House for a Family Reunion

This property has it all for large family reunions. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen we have ever seen in a rental. There are games galore and plentiful seating. The rental agent was super accommodating and quick to respond. What a perfect setting for large groups!

Great for families

The Nest was a perfect get away for our families. The private beach provided a safe and great way for everyone of all ages to enjoy the weather and water. The home provided more than amble seating for dinning and relaxing both inside and out. The description of the home was very accurate to what the home provided. We were able to rent a boat through Stay N Awake rentals that allowed us a boat to be docked at the house all week and was well worth it. We would highly recommend the Nest for any large family gathering.

Perfect for a group retreat

We were very happy with our stay here! Crystal quickly responded to each question I had during our visit. We loved all of the gathering spaces - for shared meals and outside group meetings. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfy. Lots of seating around the fire pit and lovely hammocks. We saw amazing birds and even shooting stars! We would highly recommend it.
