Apartment ideally located for visiting: the Medieval City, entrance through Porte d'Aude or Porte Narbonnaise; to attend its fireworks display and its conflagration in the evening of July 14; at its festival, in the Jean Deschamps theater in the heart of the City and at the performances of the Medieval in the lists. Other sites to visit: La Bastide 10 mins away, on foot; the Cathar castles, the museums, the caves, the churches, the abbeys, the cellars of the Minervois and Corbières, the Canal du Midi with its boat trips ... The Upper Aude Valley. 10 minutes by car, you will be at the edge of the Cavayère lake, with its sandy and grassy beaches, pedal boats, water park, windsurfing boards; its tree climbing courses, for children and adults. Close to the lake, the Australian animal park, open most of the year.

Excellent location, great terrace.

The arrival instructions had an error. The key was in box two, but the instructions said to go to door 3. Luckily we had stayed before, so went to door 2 - which was correct. I guess that was just a typo. A BBQ is listed, but was missing - so we bought one. The awning over the terrace needs adjusting to make it level. It’s fitted with a spirit level and adjusters, so should only take a few minutes to do. Sink area could have been cleaner - but the mottled finish of the surface could make this difficult to spot. We received a message that check out time was by 12:00. The manager turned up as we were leaving and told us that it was actually 11:00. I guess this was a time zone translation error somewhere in the electronic systems. Enjoyed the space very much. Close to both Cité and Bastide, and with useful shops nearby.

Appartement idéalement situé et parfait pour un couple. Le propriétaire est présent tout en étant discret. Parking privé très appréciable. L'accès à la citadelle en deux minutes. Super ! Seul bémol, la déco et l'ameublement un tantinet vieillot qui mériterait d'être rajeunit.

Excellently located pied de terre

The photos of this property don’t do it justice.The shower room was more spacious than expected and the ground floor yard, is a decent size and not overlooked, suntrapped with more than enough space to eat outside, sunbathe on the loungers and dry wet swimmers. The property was extremely clean and had everything we needed with lots of storage space and power sockets. Huge benefit was the free and secure parking. The location is outstanding, literally at the foot of the stunning medieval town. We walked up easily for dinner however if you wear heels, take flats, as the closest access point is via a fairly steep cobble path. Right opposite the apartment is a little grocer with almost everything you need and a tabac selling postcards and stamps. It’s a short walk over the bridges into the new town which is equally delightful. Plenty of restaurants to choose from in Carcassonne. We took a trip via hire car to the nearby Lac de Cavayere which is beautiful to walk aroud but we couldn't swim in it as global warming is taking affect :-( Very low water levels and rivers all dried up. The host is extremely friendly but if you don't speak French, it will be very tricky and a bit stressful. There was no pre-arrival communication - I had to phone using my basic French to find out how to gain access to the property. There was no guide with tips such as where to leave the recycling and the linen for the bed wasn't found until check-out. Check the wardbrobe thoroughly.

Excellent location and facilities

Enjoyed our stay enormously. Clean property with good outside space and parking. Friendly owner, but Vrbo message system broke down, making comms difficult. Location for both old and new cities of Carcassonne is excellent. Good local amenities. Would recommend.

Great historic location

Great location, lovely outdoor space on the terrace - characterful. Easy to get to both the old Cité and the new town, the Bastide. Fresh sheets and towels from a professional laundry. Loads of storage space, so it never felt cluttered. Loads of hot water. Brilliant private parking. Would go back again, given the choice. A big thank you to the hosts.

Beautiful apartment

I had a great stay at this apartment! Claudine and her husband were both very sweet and very helpful. They don’t speak English, but it was very easy to communicate with the little French that I know. Apartment is beautiful. Lovely patio area and very spacious apartment. It has both AC in the kitchen area and a fan in the bedroom. It’s a 5 minute walk to the center of the medieval Cité, so it’s a great location. Very easy check out as well, and Claudine drove me to the train station which was very nice.

Location and parking are superb

We booked this apartment primarily for its location and parking and it didn’t disappoint. Close and easy access to the old city and a reasonable walk into the newer part. Only a few minor things like no hair dryer, no wine glasses and the multi fit saucepan lid definitely needs to be replaced. Overall we had a good stay and although Claudine doesn’t speak English we managed to communicate ok. Would stay here again.

Tout est réuni pour passer un bon séjour à Carcassonne.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez notre hôtesse Claudine, très accueillante et prévenante . L'appartement est fonctionnel, bien équipé avec une literie de qualité. Il bénéficie d'une terrasse fermée que nous avons fort appréciée pour les repas . De plus, l'endroit est calme malgré la proximité de la Cité et vous pouvez aussi stationner votre véhicule dans la propriété. C'est une adresse que nous recommandons sans hésitation.

Pleasant apartment, great location

A very pleasant apartment, exactly as described and shown in the photographs. The location is superb, just a few cobblestones from the entrance to the Medieval city. Also just a few minutes walk from the Bastide St Louis. A small shop and Tabac, are within a few minutes walk and the secure parking is a bonus. Madame Jacky Claudine is very welcoming. We would happily use it again if we ever return to Carcassonne.

Very convenient location

This apartment is a little rustic, but the location and some of the amenities make up for it. First, the owner, Claudine, is lovely and insisted on picking us up at the train station and returning us there at the end of our stay. She only speaks French, of which we speak little, but we all managed to communicate fine. The apartment is virtually at the base of the walled city and a quick walk uphill to the town side entrance. It is also about a 5 minute walk to the old bridge that leads to the lower town where there are more businesses. There are numerous excellent places to eat in both locations. We particularly enjoyed Le Ble Noir, a wonderful crepe restaurant on Rue de Verdun in the lower town. The apartment has most everything you need, although it is small. There is no “living room”, just a large kitchen and a bedroom with a queen bed and a large bathroom with a washer. The living area, though, is a very large private patio with a table and chairs and lounge chairs and an extendable awning. This was a great spot for a glass of wine in the evenings and breakfast in the morning. There is a TV in the bedroom with quite a few French channels. There are stores close enough to grab morning crossoints or cream for coffee and bread. The kitchen area is air conditioned and there is a fan in the bedroom. I would definitely stay here again, especially if my attention was focused on the old city.

Lovely apartment in great location

We have just returned from our stay in this lovely apartment in Carcassonne. This vey quiet apartment is located just beside the Citadel. The apartment opens out onto a lovely patio which has access onto a private parking area. It is very well served with an epicerie and boulangerie just up the street and lots of lovely restaurants just around the corner. Our stay was made memorable by Madame Jacky who couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. She picked us up at the railway station and spent a lot of time settling us in and telling us how to find our way around. When we had problems trying to rent a car, we just wanted to rent a car for one day and most companies had none left, Madame Jacky rang around some of the private garages and eventually got a car for us and drove us there to pick it up.
