Rocky Face Retreat is a beautifully designed 5 bedroom/4.5 bath mountain escape offering comfort, style, and breathtaking views. The home features elegant interiors, a fully equipped kitchen, multiple cozy living spaces, and stunning views. The sprawling deck, offers Polywood furniture for dining and seating, and a fire pit—all set against the stunning backdrop of Cold Mountain. Downstairs offers a game room with ping pong table and a newly completed lower level deck with a Master Spas hot tub, two outdoor TVs and stunning views. Springdale Resort amenities include Rocky Face Tavern Restaurant & Bar and the resort pool & fitness center. Separately, a challenging 18 hole golf course is available for play at the guest's expense by booking through the pro shop.

We stayed here with 3 families on our annual cabin trip. We have been doing annual cabins trips for 7 years and this is hands down the best house we have ever stayed at!! The amenities are endless!! So much space for everyone and the view is incredible!! In addition to having everything you could ever need in a vacation home, the host is so sweet and responsive for any need! Can’t recommend this place enough!!

Beautiful property

We loved our time at Rocky Face Retreat. Every amenity was so nice and thoughtful- the furnishings, comfy beds, kitchen, TV’s… they really thought of everything to make our stay special. We will definitely be back! Ashley was a rockstar host and quick to respond when we had questions. The property is private and has the prettiest view of Cold Mountain. Really a special place!

Worth every penny!

All you need is your clothing and food, they have literally thought of everything else you could need! I would recommend arriving the first time during daylight hours as the road is steep and windy. But the view from the decks is breathtaking and worth the climb!! We stayed with 11 people ages 13-grandparents plus a newborn with more than enough space to spread out with a sunroom, two decks and a separate fire pit area, all with comfortable seating. The hot tub and ping pong table were used daily. The bedrooms are spacious and the bedding was so comfortable I had to ask the brands and have already ordered myself the pillows from the master bedroom. A pack and play was set up and ready for the baby. Plan to cook in because they have everything you need! Basic spices, sugar, oil, ziplock baggies, foil, detergent, excellent quality cookware and appliances etc. The keg was full and the firepit was supplied with wood, firestarters, and all the s'more fixings you need and the Keurig and Nespresso well supplied with pods. There are endless waterfalls, hikes, biking trails etc within 40-60 minute drive that we enjoyed and the grocery store is about 20 min away. The downtown Canton Farmer's Market was a fun resource for veggies and had live music the day we went. We have rented 2-4 VRBOs a year for several years now and this is the most well managed, thoughtfully appointed home we have ever chosen. It is truly worth the price and we hope to return!

Most impressive property, amenities, and host Ashley Thornburg

Rocky Face was the perfect place for our family gathering to celebrate the 80th birthday of our family matriarch. The house had everything we needed to entertain 11 people from ages 4-80 for several days and to comfortably include another 7 for a celebration dinner. I have never been to a place that was any nicer. The description of a "gourmet" kitchen is even a bit of an understatement; the finest of all things were stocked: Yeti coffee cups, mugs, thermal glasses, oven and stove, alkl clad pots and pans and (my favorite), 4 different kinds of coffee brewers. Ironically, the house included large tvs in every room, sitting areas, and 2 near the hot tubs (about 10 total) and we never turned a single one on! Any questions I had about our stay were promptly answered by our host Ashley Thornburg, who was simply amazing in her responsiveness and knowledge. Thank you for a memorable time.

Family Time

We came together from three states and throughly enjoyed our time at Rocky Face Retreat. Everything you read in the reviews is true. It is a beautiful home with a spectacular view. Ashley is a perfect host and I would nominate her for the BEST HOST on VRBO!! We mostly stayed at the home and were perfectly happy enjoying the seclusion of the mountains. “Try it. You will like it!”

No stone unturned

The hosts left no stone unturned to try to make us as their guests comfortable and welcome. We were impressed with how well the kitchen was equipped and all other aspects of the property. We had smores, hiked, picked apples, watched MLB from the jacuzzi, played ping pong, but mostly relaxed and enjoyed our family time. We were pleasantly surprised at the seclusion that this property had to offer as well. And finally, Ashley's quick responses to any and all questions made us feel at ease as we approached the visit. We all highly recommend.

Fantastic Property and Stay

The house is incredible and the pictures don't do it justice. It was a great fit for our family get together - we had 8 adults coming together and there was more than enough space. It was also a very well appointed space - I've never stayed in a rental with so many towels and supplies! The downstairs room with 2 queens isn't as nice as the other rooms, but still clean and functional, and it was great to have a bit more separated space. The host was super responsive and very kind. Overall, a beautiful house with extraordinary views.

Amazing Mountain View

This home was absolutely beautiful and away from everything and everyone. This was the best place we have stayed by far in the mountains.The house is ridiculous and has tons a room for a family get away. The kitchen is huge and if you love cooking like we do you will have a great time in the kitchen. The main porch is a little piece of heaven on earth. It has picturesque view out of a magazine. This place will cleanse your soul and have you wanting to come back like us. The hot tub and game room were just the icing on the cake. Ashley was a excellent host and made the check in/out process seamless. She answered all of my questions very quickly and efficiently. We wiil be back no doubt.

This house has it all!!!

My family is pretty picky, with my 17 year old son as the Master Complainer. I also have a 15 year old girl and 10 year old boy. This house literally is perfection. Every single detail has been attended to, right down to the abundance of s'mores left for the guests. Literally you can just bring your suitcase with clothing and a toothbrush and not worry about anything else. The location was about 30-40 minutes from most of the things we wanted to do. It rained a few days and we were just as happy to stay in the house, have ping pong tournaments, watch movies in the hot tub outside and do puzzles that are left in the house. It's so cozy and beautiful. There's even a kegerator (which we actually didn't use but for those that like beer you are in luck!) It's a little slice of paradise with the babbling brook water sounds in the background. We brought our dog who was seriously living her best life on the property. As we were leaving, my oldest son said, "I can say with 100% certainty we will be back here." That says it all.

Mountain Get Away

Great house, remote location with country club feel with access to club house and pool. Hiked several trails in Mt. Pisguh with beautiful views. Lots of restaurants within 30 minutes. Will miss having morning coffee and evening wine on the deck with spectacular views of the mountains. Definitely come back!

Luxurious and Unforgettable Family Vacation

My husband and I booked this amazing luxury rental due to its ideal central location proximate both my son and daughter’s drop-offs for sleep away camps. Pictures do not do this home justice. Each afternoon, we enjoyed the large outside terrace featuring Adirondack chairs all with expansive views of Cold Mountain. Our family enjoyed grilling out with the home’s Weber-grill all while dining alfresco at the comfortable outdoor dining table. After dinner, our family enjoyed nighty dips in the large hot tub in the lower level covered terrace watching both large 75” televisions (one TV featuring the NBA playoffs, while the others watched a baseball game). It was like having a sports bar in the clouds. The bedding and mattresses were so luxurious. They were better than some of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at. This home has it all with thoughtful details that made our stay memorable. What an amazing and unforgettable family vacation!

Private, Updated Luxury Mountain House with Spectacular Views!!

Wanted a long-weekend get-away for Spring Break with my family at a secluded mountain lodge perched high amongst the Smoky Mountains. After much research – we booked Rocky Face Retreat. After just returning home – I can honestly say this luxury vacation home exceeded every expectation. Rocky Face is positioned high above a beautiful valley, with expansive views of the area mountains. Just down the well-paved road below the home is Springdale Resort – where we had a wonderful Friday dinner at Rocky Face Tavern which is centered around a gorgeous and cozy fireplace. The home itself has everything to make your stay special – from the All-Clad waffle maker & cookwear, the Nespresso Verturo Machine, to the large Breville Toaster Over w/ Air Fryer. Loved watching our favorites on the large 75” 4K TV in the living room, pre-programmed with NetFlix, HBOMax, Disney+ and YouTubeTV. Look no further! Rocky Face Retreat had it all!

The perfect luxurious retreat!

My husband and two children just got home for our wonderful escape to Rocky Face Retreat. Pictures fail to capture the beauty of this vacation haven – perched well above the neighboring mountains, the home boasts an amazing view of Cold Mountain which can be enjoyed on both the top deck or the first floor (w/spacious hot tub and televisions). Attention to detail is an understatement here – from the modern kitchen, to the large living rooms, as well as how each bedroom has its own 4K smart television. The entire home (both indoors and outside) has an intuitive Sonos surround sound system – all operative via the provided iPAD. Our family enjoyed walking about the amazing grounds, listening to the gentle brook flowing through the property, and grilling out with the large Weber grill. Almost forgot to mention the amazing Springdale resort just below the home – and the amazing golf, clubhouse, and restaurant. This home has too many details to mention – experience for yourself! We can’t wait to return.
