"The Black Pearl is conveniently located to many walkable areas such as shopping, the Harpa, the waterfront, museums and the bus stop (which is helpful for pickups to excursions like the spas or pony trecking). Our apartment was spacious, clean and comfortable and we appreciated the king size bed which is hard to find in most hotels. Be aware that the hotel is on a street with restaurants and pubs which can be noisy at night, especially since we visited during the summer when it never gets dark...

"Basic lodging that met the needs of our party of 7. We were in building 53 (upstairs) and there is no real lounging space but the bedrooms are spacious. Basic soap provided and some tea/coffee. Beds were comfortable but as others have mentioned the floors can be loud but slippers are provided to help the noise. The building is close to the main area where shops and restaurants are so definitely loud at times…earplugs can help."

To be clear, we were in one of the 3-bedroom apartments, so it was not in the main hotel (although I think most of the hotel is spread out over various buildings). "Only had a tiny window on left side of room. Leaving room quite dark. If you like sun … not the room for you. Massage was mediocre. Slippers were NOT provided. Breakfast was standard continental breakfast. All was fresh. Location is good."

There was a leak in the bathroom but the hosts got it fixed quickly and communicated promptly and efficiently in a friendly manner, even though it was a weekend. Would definitely stay again."

"Nice clean facility but minimum cheap furniture. No desk or drawers to keep things and bathroom sink did not have any counter space to put even tooth brush or tooth paste. Some counter space in bathroom would have made daily routine little easier. Bathroom glass door was not a good idea and shower needed some glass wall to prevent splashes and that would have made maintenance staff work easier too."

"Hard to get used to the 'contactless check in'. No humans around. The apartment was adequate, but there were a few things that should be addressed. I needed to iron a dress, and, yes there was an iron, and an ironing board that would sit on a table. Except that there was nowhere in the apartment where I could plug in the iron and use a table for the ironing board! I would have to rearrange the apartment. Also, the outlets in the bedroom were only accessible by crawling under the bedside tables....

"Pleasant hotel although expensive - as is everythingin Reykjavik. Fantastic location, very central, nice staff, very good buffet breakfast. We had an oversized room which was well worth it. Room was stuffy and warm - no forced air circulation. We kept window open which lowered room temperature from 25 to 23 degrees both nights, still on the warm side. Suggest housekeeping open window to air out room between guests. On the plus side, no noise even with window open since looked out on an internal...
