  • Villa 17° West is quietly situated in the sunniest part of the island, in the romantic village of Estreito da Calheta, just 40 minutes from Funchal. It features an 8x4 m saltwater infinity pool with a solar shower, perched on a small hill amid a vineyard.

    The location is unique, offering the village’s character and festivals, and the beach is just a few minutes away by car.

    Madeira enjoys wonderful temperatures almost all year round, and Calheta's climate is especially suited to flora and fauna, with abundant blooming. The large panoramic windows open to connect the living room with the spacious terrace, pool, and palm garden.

    Whether you prefer relaxing in comfortable sun loungers by the skin-friendly salt pool or driving five minutes to Calheta’s sandy beach, all options are open. A trip to Funchal is also just a stone’s throw away.

Beautiful!

Our first visit to this gorgeous island. The villa was well equipped, very clean and had amazing views. Jorge and his family were very helpful and friendly. There are a couple of restaurants and a small shop that are walkable but everything else is a drive away so would recommend a hire car as essential. We had an amazing holiday and would love to return someday.

Excellent family holiday

We had a wonderful stay at this amazing villa. The villa was equipped with everything we needed and was lovely and spacious. The beds were comfortable and we appreciated the thick curtains to stop children waking too early. The children particularly loved the pool and we enjoyed being able to relax on the loungers and outdoor seating whilst they were splashing about. The views from the master bedroom balcony were lovely and we spent every evening up there after the children had gone to bed watching the ever changing sky - blissful! We enjoyed being able to get down quickly to Calheta to go to the beach and the easy accessibility to everywhere on the island that we wanted to visit. The local shop is also very handy and has pretty much everything you could need. We also had a delicious evening meal at the local vineyard. Jorge was very responsive for anything we needed and gave us some excellent recommendations of places to eat and visit - the whale watching tour he recommended was an absolute highlight for all of us. Overall, a brilliant stay!

Tolles Haus mit Wahnsinnigem Ausblick. Viel Platz und Natur drumherum. Ein schickes Restaurant um die Ecke, sonst muss man ein paar Minuten zum Hafen fahren wo es ein gute Auswahl gibt. Vermieter ware supernett und hiflsbereit.

Wir haben den Aufenthalt in der Villa sehr genossen. Dort kann man wunderbar entspannen. Alle Zimmer sind groß mit super Ausblick. Die Betreuung durch Jorge war sehr gut. Wir können uns gut vorstellen, wiederzukommen.

Beautiful villa with stunning views

Best holiday villa we have ever stayed in! The villa was so spacious, well equipped, clean and comfortable. The view from the villa’s infinity swimming pool was truly stunning! We received a very warm welcome from Jorge on our arrival to the villa. Jorge was extremely helpful and gave us excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants and places of interest to visit on the beautiful island of Madeira. The villa is only a 5 minute drive from Calheta beach and marina. We were spoiled for choice! Thank you for a wonderful holiday

Stunning location

We loved our stay at 17 West. The views were stunning. We even saw whales out at sea through the binoculars one day. You have to have a car to stay here, but we would highly recommend having a car to properly explore the island. We used the local supermarket and shop and the larger supermarket in Calheta to do a bigger shop. The kitchen had everything we needed and we used the bbq in the garden one night. The bottle of wine and crisps and juice was a nice touch when we arrived too. The villa was very clean and comfortable. The bedrooms are large and all have lovely views and balconies. The beds are huge and comfortable. We did use the aircon in the rooms only when we went to bed as it was quite humid overnight and also to keep it quieter with the local cockerels in the morning. So we all slept very well. We also really enjoyed the pool. It isn’t heated but being summer it was a lovely refreshing temperature. Jorge who was the local villa manager was very friendly and helpful and answered any questions quickly. He also helped to tell us where to go when our daughter got an ear infection and we needed to see a doctor. We loved the island and would love to visit again one day.

Schönste Urlaubsunterkunft!

Von dieser Unterkunft aus konnten wir die Insel perfekt erkunden. Alles was man benötigt ist gut erreichbar und auch Funchal ist gut an zu fahren. Die Unterkunft selber war sehr einladend und man konnte sich wie „zu Hause“ fühlen. Danke für diese schöne Urlaubsunterkunft!

Wonderful house with great view

Très agréable séjour

Villa moderne, très spacieuse et lumineuse avec beaucoup d'espace de rangement dans les chambres. Belle piscine à débordement non-chauffée donc un peu fraîche en cette saison. Vue extraordinaire de la terrasse et de toutes les chambres à l'étage qui ont toutes un accès sur l'extérieur. Jorge et Jessica, ont su se rendre très disponibles durant notre séjour.

Traumhaft

Das schönste Ferienhaus, dass wir je hatten. Sehr modern eingerichtet und wirklich sehr sauber. Nicht einmal unter dem bett waren Flusen :-). Dazu die traumhafte Aussicht auf das Meer, daran konnten wir uns nicht satt sehen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

The Perfect Getaway

We cannot say enough about our experience and the property. Trust the reviews and make this your vacation home-base. Jessica was a pleasure to communicate with - answering all questions in a timely manner and even making recommendations for our initial stay in Funchal. She even popped in to introduce herself and make sure we were settled, which was a thoughtful personal touch we greatly appreciated. The property manager Jorge was equally responsive and made our check in seamless; we were even able to check in earlier than planned and Jorge’s son walked us through the property to ensure we had what we needed. A lovely welcome gift was an added touch and very much appreciated! The listing was true to its word and there was plenty of space indoors and out. The location ended up being perfect, both for those lazy days of just enjoying the stunning views and the outdoor pool space, and central to travel the island and explore. The parking space was a huge bonus once we started to see the lack of space in other properties. Everything you need is either a short walk (a great glute workout given the elevation and steep roads… a welcome opportunity to burn off the wine!) or short drive to Calheta and local market. We would absolutely return to this property and highly recommend! You won’t be disappointed 😊

Fantastische Zeit

Die Zeit in der 17°West Villa war perfekt, wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Gleich zu Beginn begrüßte uns Jorge sehr freundlich und gab uns viele Informationen und Empfehlungen. Während unseres Aufenthalts lernten wir auch die Vermieterin kennen, die ebenfalls sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit war. Eine Verlängerung aufgrund eines stornierten Flugs war unbürokratisch und schnell zu lösen. Das Haus liegt perfekt: Ruhige Umgebung mit direktem Blick aus Meer. In wenigen Minuten ist man mit dem Auto unten am Hafen mit vielen Restaurants. Noch schneller ist man bei Supermärkten. Alles was man benötigt ist im Haus vorhanden, sogar ein Teleskop. Die Villa ist groß, sauber und schön eingerichtet. Es sind viele Sitzmöglichkeiten auf Terrrasse und diversen Balkonen vorhanden. Der Pool hat eine gute Größe. Eine klare Weiterempfehlung!
