The location was great, opposite the famous chain bridge. Other than that frankly it’s not worth the money: it’s our last night at Budapest and we upgraded our room for the view of the bridge and the Buda skyline so the room costed three time as much as the superior room in Anantara New York Palace (where we stayed previous two nights ) yet the quality wise is at par at the best apart from the view. It’s five star no less but not exceptional compared to others.
Having said that the hotel did try to provide a good experience for guests. It was our anniversary so the hotel prepared a beautiful dessert with a heart on it and a heart shape by red flower petals, which is very nice. When we got in our room my partner tried to use the coffee machine but it didn’t work so we had to call the housekeeping to get a replacement. The coffee pots are great but no milk/ cream - you have to call to get it, which is not what you expect from the Four Seasons.
The staff of front desk were friendly enough but not as warmly and diligently as those at Anantara.
Perhaps the lobby area in Anantara is so grand in contrast the lobby area at Gresham Palace though very Art Nouveau but the scale is nowhere near something called palace. Also the lifts are decorated very dark which is opposite of welcoming. So be prepared for the underwhelming feeling when you step in the entrance.
