The holiday apartments are situated on a most romantic and unique sandy beach near London. They have been family managed by the owners for twenty years. Part of a 250 year old Georgian Mansion the apartments are comfortably furnished including books, videos and games. Every room has a beautiful view either out to sea and the chalk cliffs or towards the Victorian garden at the back of the house. There is an ever changing scene sea scape with the tides, fascinating sea birds, ships to watch either from the windows or the beach directly in front of the property. You have opportunities to play golf straight behind the house, go swimming, go to the children's play area or play tennis. A good idea is to bring your own bicycles with you. The bicycle paths around this area and some along the beach are breath-taking. All apartments are child friendly and non-smoking areas.

Beach view

Was clean and tidy, communication was good and no problems. Flat felt chilly and was dated but in keeping with the building so, quaint would probably be a better description. Overall, the stay was as pleasant, comfertable and a good base for getting around.

Sonnige Tage an der Kingsgate Bay

Wir verbrachten als Familie (Eltern mit zwei Teenagern) bei ungewöhnlich schönem Sommerwetter eine Woche im Holland Cottage in der Ferienwohnung Beach View, die ihrem Namen alle Ehre machte. Zum Strand ist es wirklich nur über die Straße und die Treppe hinunter. Auch das nette Gastropub "Captain Digby" ist fussläufig schnell zu erreichen.

November visit to Kent

Three of us stayed for three nights while visiting our son in Margate. The property is charming and has lovely sea views. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms adequate. It was rather cold and windy and the apartment is a little cold because of the age of the building. The kitchen was satisfactory for making breakfast but I would not plan to prepare all daily meals there. Restaurants are convenient but you need a car and parking can be difficult in any town. I’d like to return in the summer to be able to enjoy the beach.

Erholsamer Familienurlaub

Die Ferienwohnung liegt stilvoll in einem herrschaftlichen Haus direkt an der Kingsgate Bay und nur durch die Straße vom feinen Sandstrand getrennt. Die Wohnung bietet beeindruckende Blicke auf den Strand und das Meer, sowie das Kingsgate selber, welches bei den verschiedenen Gezeiten und Tageszeiten immer anders aussieht. Die Wohnung bietet alles was einen perfekten und erholsamen Familienurlaub gehört. Sowohl Kinderbücher, DVDs in Deutsch und Englisch sind vorhanden, sowie zahlreiche Strandspielsachen und sogar Neopren-Anzüge in allen Größen, sollten die Wassertemperaturen mal etwas geringer sein. Neben Englischem Fernsehen kann man auch komplette Fernsehsender auf Deutsch empfangen. Neben einer toll ausgestatteten Küche bietet die Wohnung im 2. Stock auch 2 Bäder und einen herrlichen Blick auf die Gärten der Häuser. Sowohl Lage, als auch Preis sind absolut top.

Fantastic Quiet Getaway

This is a historic house with lots of character and a castle next door. The home is as pictured, right on the ocean. Our host Simone was wonderful. Beach chairs, mats and beach toys are provided along with a large (large for a rental) library. The only aspect I would change (but is not a complaint) is we are not used to duvets and covers and would have preferred a top sheet (made it a little hard to sleep), and the furnishings were worn but quite serviceable and gave the place a cottage-y feel. The rental had everything we needed with adequate kitchen cooking and eating utensils, a washing machine, living room overlooking the ocean. There are many beaches in the area, this one is exceedingly quiet and non-crowded compared to others nearby. The house sits on the 30 mile coastal (bike - walk) Thanet Trail, a wonderful resource. We walked to Margate and back one day for ice cream (6 miles total). The scenery and ocean view are very worth the walk. There is a pub just up the hill from the rental (2 minute walk) also with great sea views, friendly staff and good selection of food and drink. Very nearby is Canterbury and we enjoyed two days there (we are not from the UK so this was all new to us). There is a lot to do in the area such as Deal and Walmer Castle. The service at the nearby Enterprise Car Rental (10 minutes away by car) was outstanding and they drove my husband back to Holland Cottage when we turned in the car. I'm not sure I'll make it back to this area as there's so much world to see, but if I ever did I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Sehr schöne geräumige Ferienwohnung, sehr liebevoll eingerichtet, top in Ordnung.

Wir waren eine Woche hier und hatten alles was wir brauchten. (inklusive schönes Wetter) Die Vermieterin gibt Tipps und Informationen für einen perfekten Aufenthalt. Tolle Ferienwohnung am schönsten Ort. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Sehr schöne Lage direkt am Meer

Die Ferienwohnung ist wunderschön gelegen, direkt am Meer. Nur ein paar Schritte über die wenig befahrene Straße und ein paar Stufen runter an den Strand... Wir haben den Blick auf das Meer vom Wohn- oder Schlafzimmer und das Rauschen des Meeres bei Nacht genossen. Die Wohnung ist gut eingerichtet und sauber, das Haus natürlich dem Alter entsprechend mit eigenem Charakter. London ist recht gut erreichbar, entweder mit dem Auto (wir haben beim O2 geparkt) oder mit dem Zug ab Broadstairs. Sehr nette deutschsprachige Vermieterin, Parkplatz direkt vor dem Haus - auf jeden Fall sehr empfehlenswert.

Aussergewöhnliche Lage

Die Wohnung ist von der Raumaufteilung her für eine 4-köpfige Familie sehr geeignet und war sehr sauber. Das Highlight ist sicherlich der freie Blick über die Bucht und den Strand. Die Wohnung liegt in einem älteren Haus, was zusammen mit der direkten Meereslage wohl zu einer gewissen Restfeuchigkeit führt, welche nie ganz weggeht. Gewisse Möbel sind zum Teil schon etwas älter. Für Ferien in Kent kann ich die Wohnung nur empfehlen.

Entspannend und idyllisch

Die Ferienwohnung ist sehr gemütlich ausgestattet und sauber. Die Lage ist ein Traum. Über die ruhige Straße und die Treppe hinunter, schon ist man am Strand. Ein ausgedehnter Spaziergang nach Margate an der Steilküste entlang ist sehr schön. Margate jedoch ist in die Jahre gekommen. Es gibt ein paar nette Läden und Cafés in der Altstadt. Zu empfehlen ist das gemütliche Cupcake Café mit tollen Kuchen, Sandwiches und Tee. Nach 10 Minuten Fahrt von der Wohnung hat man auch das riesige Shopping-Areal am Ortseingang von Broadstairs erreicht. Sainburys, Tesco, Asda sind dort ebenso angesiedelt wie viele andere Nonfood Läden. Sicher gibt es auch noch andere kleinere Einkaufsläden in näherer Umgebung. Simone hat uns gleich am Ankunftstag ein paar Tipps gegeben. Es gibt in der Umgebung einige spannende Ausflugsziele wie Wallmer-Castle oder Deal-Castle. Sehr sehenswert ist Canterbury. Natürlich darf man Dover-Castle nicht verpassen. Es lohnt sich für den Besuch der Sehenswürdigkeiten von English Heritage den "Overseas Visitors Pass" zu kaufen. London ist super mit dem Auto zu erreichen. Wir haben am Millennium Dome geparkt und sind einmal mit dem Thames-Clipper (tolle Fahrt) und einmal mit der U-Bahn in die City gefahren. Alles in allem ein toller Urlaub, viele Dinge zu erleben und eine Ferienwohnung, die wirklich Freude macht. Danke Simone.

Idyllisch gelegene Ferienwohnung im viktorianischen Stil mit Meerblick

Die von uns gemietete, saubere, gepflegte und gut ausgestattete Wohnung entsprach in jeder Hinsicht der Beschreibung auf der Webseite: Wunderschöner Blick auf die Kreidefelsen und das Meer in ständig wechselndem Licht, von den hinteren Räumen blickt man auf einen schönen, alten, viktorianischen Garten. Schneller Zugang zum Strand über eine Treppe auf der anderen Straßenseite. Dort sind bei Ebbe lange Spaziergänge in beide Richtungen möglich (festes Schuhwerk bzw. Gummistiefel empfohlen). Auch oberhalb des Strandes gibt es einen gezeitenunabhängigen Wanderweg. Die Wohnung verfügt über einen zugehörigen Parkplatz direkt vor dem Haus. Wir wurden von der Vermieterin sehr nett und persönlich empfangen und mit Informationen zur Wohnung und Tipps zur Umgebung versorgt. Einige von uns leider vergessene Einkäufe wurden uns freundlich, schnell und unkompliziert nachgesandt. Wir können die Wohnung guten Gewissens weiterempfehlen.
