  • The Rookery is our latest stunning detached Holiday Cottage sleeping 20 in nine en-suite bedrooms. The spacious open plan ground floor has bi-fold doors leading from the dining room and lounge to a large south facing terrace with stunning waterside views. The ground floor bedrooms also have bi-fold doors on to the patio where the views can be enjoyed from the comfort of your bed. Two of the double first floor bedrooms have juliet balconies.

Superb house, in a stunning location, with everything you could possibly need for a big family celeb

Our big family of 19 spent Christmas 2025 at Rookery. From the warm welcome from the owners, with wine and seasonal treats, to the stunning accommodation and superb location, we knew as soon as we arrived that we had found the perfect place. The big kitchen is fully equipped for a big party, and the huge dining table was perfect for our celebration dinners. Everyone in our party loved it there. I can't speak highly enough of it. It's exceptional.

Absolutely Stunning

This cottage was absolutely beautiful- we rented it out as part of our accommodation for guests attending our wedding and we had so many say how gorgeous it was! Surrounded by fields and a lake it was so perfect! We are all talking about coming back for big events and I highly recommend for big family get aways! What made it even more perfect was its dog friendly so our two golden retrievers adored the space and had so much fun running around! It’s truly idilic and quiet! Very close to the little village aswell which is really convenient!

Amazing stay in the Rookery

An amazing place with beautiful views across the valley. In rain or sunshine thay are glorious. The house is so well equipped we had absolutely everything we needed. A group of 20 and we cooked and served together, plenty of dishes, pans, cutlery,glasses, the lot. Firedoors can be a little noisy but that is safety so not an issue. Local walks and Bulls Head an added bonus.

Family get together

Fantastic property, so comfortable and well equipped. Karen was on hand with any help needed. Icing on the cake was the two scrummy cakes provided at our arrival. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great venue

Fantastic stay

This was our second stay at The Dinney, in The Rookery. What a fantastic, clean and comfortable property, it felt like a hotel. We were welcomed with the most tasty cakes and beautiful flowers. Each room had an en-suite which was amazing with 19 people sharing for a week. The table tennis and football table were enjoyed by many of the family. Within close reach of Bridgnorth it was the perfect base to head out exploring. Cannot thank you enough we will be looking to book again!! Xxx

Review

We stayed at the Rookery for 3 nights. We are 12 friends who have a reunion each year and this has been the ideal place for the last 2yrs. The house is beautiful well maintained with a spacious kitchen/dinner/lounge. There is plenty of utensils in the kitchen with 2 dishwashers and ovens. All bedrooms were comfortable and ensuite. The views are stunning with lots to do in the area. Thanks Karen for your sponges. We highly recommend The Rookery.

A very enjoyable stay

2025 was the third consecutive year we have stayed here. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with ample pots pans and crockery etc. The bedrooms are very clean and comfortable and all 9 have separate en suites plus a bathroom downstairs. The configuration of the very large kitchen/sitting area really suits a large party. We would’ve liked brighter lighting in the sitting area and understand that this will be addressed.

65th Wedding Anniversary Party

We hired Rookery Cottage for the whole week so that our relatives and friends from France, Switzerland and Ireland could stay on after the main weekend party. We also hired the Kingfisher and Garden Cottages plus 3 B & B rooms for the Friday and Saturday and the 44 residents were joined by around 45 local friends for the food, drinks and disco in the Rookery Garden, overlooking the Chelmarsh Reservoir. It was also the ideal setting for an Anglo-French Boules match for the Ricard Cup.

Beautiful accommodation for family reunion

The Rookery at Dinney Farm is a truly stunning building with nine en-suite bedrooms and plenty of space for everyone to relax. The kitchen is beautiful and the views are just lovely. Lots of great walks in the area, including riverside walks with views of the gorgeous Shropshire countryside. All the rooms are spacious doubles, so no-one will feel as if they've been landed with a dud. We had such a brilliant three nights here and didn't want to leave!

2nd visit in 2025

Our 2nd stay at The Rookery in 2025 and, guess what, it was even more enjoyable than the first . Hard to believe, I know. In fact some of our group are returning later this year to stay in one of the smaller cottages. Beautiful countryside, lovely well appointed accommodation and the friendliest of owners. I know it’s easy to say but I can’t imagine how anyone could be disappointed.

Well what can I say other than what a fabulous place you have at The Dinney, although you probably know that already. I had high expectations for the accommodation at The Rookery and, oh boy, I was not disappointed at all, in fact my expectations were more than exceeded.The Rookery is perfect, well appointed, spacious, comfortable accommodation up there with the best of them. As a group of 15, we couldn’t have asked for more to make our celebrations so special, well done to the team at The Dinney.

Annual family Xmas Gathering

My family [both sides] and I have been regular December renters of the Rookery since it was initially commissioned. In fact, we watched it being built whilst being previous occupants ot Kingfisher next door. We have been regular satisfied clients of The Dinney for some 10 years now: only missing one as a result of Covid. The property is ideal for a multi--generation get together with all nine bedrooms being extremely well appointed and having their own en-suite facilities. The spacious lounge / kitchen layout allows plenty of room for individual leisure activities at the same time as food prepping whilst the addition of a further 'games room' with its own TV allows those wanting a bit of peace and quiet to indulge themselves in their own requirements. The property is well situated in an elevated position in its own extensive grounds though only a short driving distance from two extremely good eating places - a golf club or a pub depending on preference.....

Already Booked for Next Year!

We are a group of 8 ladies who meet up once a year in the Shropshire area for a long weekend. We've hired many different properties over the years and The Rookery knocked them all out of the park! Stunning scenery and peaceful surroundings, beautifully appointed and well-thought out accommodation, spacious bedrooms with comfy beds and all en suite. We'd booked for next year before we left! Thanks also to Karen the manager for being very helpful with any of our questions and so welcoming. The homemade cakes left in the kitchen for us were a real treat!

Just perfect

There's nothing bad to say about this place. It's our second time and our party of 13 60-somethings have already booked for 2026, so that should be enough of a recommendation for anyone. I could write about the positive stuff but it's all detailed in the accurate online listing. Over the last 40 years, our large group of friends have met each year in a variety of large UK houses for a few nights at a time and this, without exception, is the best we've stayed in. Just book it, you won't be disappointed.

great cottage for larger groups

Cannot fault anything at Rookery cottage. The bedrooms are a delight - large, airy and well decorated. The open plan lounge, dining area and modern kitchen are also exceptional. The kitchen is well equipped and user-friendly. The games room was useful for those members of our party who wanted to watch sport. The patio area has plenty of outdoor seating and a lovely view. The gas BBQ was also a good feature. We were a party of 13 adults and we all had a fantastic time. This was our second visit and just as good as we remembered it from 2024. Looking forward to visiting again in 2026!

A great place for a family celebration.

We needed a place to stay for a family celebration and holiday. We found The Rookery to be ideal. With nine bedrooms all with really good quality en suite facilities, everyone was very happy with their accommodation. Set in beautiful, peaceful countryside some older family members were able to relax and enjoy the location while others were able to go to some of the nearby visitor attractions. On the week we stayed the weather was excellent and most of our party enjoyed at least one walk from the site. Had the weather not been so kind it was nice to see the table tennis table and table football provided as well as books and indoor games. Had our party included children I am sure the small football field would have been a great attraction. The kitchen and shower rooms were all extremely well equipped with high quality fittings and accessories, and the beds were very comfortable too!

Really enjoyed staying at the rookery in July 2025. It was amazing, all my guests loved it!

A group of 21 (20 plus a 7 months old) of us stayed for three nights at the very beginning of the school summer holidays. The Rookery had been recommended by a friend 8 years ago! She said how fantastic it was but we needed an occasion which required a large party..que a 21st birthday celebration. The accommodation was perfect. So spacious. You can tell that every aspect had been well thought out when planning this purpose built holiday home. The downstairs w/c being one. Every bedroom has its own ensuite. The birthday girl knew which was her room straight away as she loves a bath (a great additional feature). The views are spectacular. The main living space allows for socialising all within the one room, either as one large group or within smaller groups with its well thought out modular spaces. Loads of space for dancing too! We couldn't connect to the speaker system and there was no cork screw (but we borrowed from our neighbours having a birthday celebration of their own at the Kingfisher). We pre-planned and prepared our main meals for the weekend and managed to fit the food in the American fridge freezer! Friday make your own pizza night was a breeze with the huge kitchen island and multiple ovens. Loads of parking space, the list of positives is endless. The doors were a little noisy even when trying to be quiet but safety comes first and again that's another positive feature as not all holiday accommodation fit internal fire doors. Thank you to everyone at the Dinney. Your business is a credit to you & your team. Oh & your baking is exceptional too. What a lovely touch to add a homemade victoria sponge, chocolate cake and balloons. We are already planning our next visit as we would love to stay at one (or more) of your other holiday properties soon.

Fantastic stay at a lovely location

Beautiful 9-bedroom property all en-suite. Well-appointed with all items provided. Gas BBQ wasn't the most efficient we've ever used and could have been larger cafetieres but that's being super picky. Otherwise, everything perfect in a perfect location. Will definitely return.

Top-notch

Our first holiday at The Dinney was back in 2009 and we have returned there every year bar two (one due to Covid!). We initially stayed at the Kingfisher and were delighted later to be the first family to occupy the newly built Rookery, not least because of the increased numbers of our grandchildren. The accommodation, facilities & scenery are wonderful and we are already booked in again for next year.
