Purple Haze: Log Cabin, near Blue Ridge Pky, spectacular views and hot tub

Ten seconds after coming through the front door of the cabin and looking through the cathedral ceiling- to- floor window, you will know why we call it Purple Haze. We love Jimi, but it's not about him. It's the amazing view out across the Appalachian Mountains, well into Virginia, evoking 'purple mountains majesty.' This spacious luxury log cabin home has 3 BR, 2.5 baths, plus loft. Located between Boone and Blowing Rock just 1.7 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The main living area is showcased by a wall of windows and exposed beams accented by a corner stone fireplace with gas logs. Flat screen TV, hardwood floors, comfortable furnishings with plenty of seating. Amenities include AC, cable, broadband internet, smart TV, fully equipped galley kitchen with both a drip coffee maker and a Keurig, a water filter, blender, baking pans, muffin tins, mixer, and anything else needed to prepare your meals and desserts and a dining room table that seats 8. Easy access to large deck with additional dining furniture, umbrella, gas grill and hot tub. Master suite is located on the main level with a private bath and deck access. The loft has 2 twin beds, a leather sofa, reading nook and great views. Downstairs has a den with a queen size sleeping sofa, TV with video, 2 bedrooms with queen beds, a shared bathroom, laundry room, a covered deck with spectacular views.
(Winter visitors: 4 wheel drive or chains are highly recommended)
The convenient location offers something for everyone. Some of the best day hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains are within 15 minutes. Hike to great views or waterfalls with swimming holes. For endurance hikers, the cabin is 1/2 mile off the Mountain to Sea Trail. For cyclists, the Blue Ridge Parkway is 1.7 miles away, but there are also many mountain bike trails. White water rafting is available nearby.
The house is located on a rural, dead end, paved street that has very little traffic and is a great, safe environment for kids and pets. You are in the rural mountains, yet it is just a beautiful 15 minute drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway to the charming village of Blowing Rock. There you will find fine dining and great shopping. Or you may prefer the lively college town of Boone only 15 minutes away. Here you will find night-life and interesting, unique restaurants and shops. For the kids, the Tweetsie Railroad amusement park is a short 10 minute drive, and a large playground in the heart of Blowing Rock is another short drive.

We visited Mystery Hill and it is something I think about when describing this region. It is a picture that I feel many people from the region have in their minds from a previous visit or an outsider may feel for a similar place from their hometown. I chose to only take a picture of the sign because it is more direct than a picture of the Mystery Hill building.

We had a wonderful stay in this home. We comfortably slept 8 people here and felt right at home. We had to tweak our dates and the owner responded right away to our request. The house is situated between Boone and Blowing rock so we were able to see and do a lot of things. The kids are already asking to go back!

Another great stay

3rd time at Purple Haze. Neighborhood is quiet and great location to visit Boone or Blowing Rock. Views can’t be beat, especially while sitting in the hot tub.

Felt like we were staying at a friend's house!

House was very comfortable and relaxing! It was rainy, but the clouds on the mountain top were mysterious and beautiful! On day 3, we were able to see the amazing view! We enjoyed the hot tub and are pretty sure we need one now!House was dusty and linens were stale, but overall, amazing place and location. We will book again!

Great stay!

We had a relaxing stay at Purple Haze and enjoyed the property! The view from the back porch was amazing! The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and it was great to have a grill to enjoy some steaks on the deck. We would definitely return!

Temperature control downstairs

The house is quite nice and worked well for our purposes. We had everything we needed. The only caveat was the temperature control downstairs. It was in the 40s during the day and dropped at night. While we set the only thermostat on the main floor at 72, the downstairs was at least 10 degrees colder at night, perhaps more. I turned on the space heaters full blast in both rooms but didn't work with the bedroom door open. Finally I closed the bedroom door with the space heater on with the door closed 4 hours before retiring for the evening. This warmed up the room and kept it warm through the night. This was not explained upfront.

Mountain Paradise

Purple Haze was one of our favorite VRBO properties ever!! The location was perfect for many nearby activities including Blowing Rock and Tweetsie Railroad. Linda was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The house is beautiful and very well stocked. The layout is perfect for large family groups. We would definitely stay again!

Awesome experience

This cabin was beautiful! Secluded and private but also near downtown Boone and Blowing Rock. The kitchen has everything you need for everyday living. Has a very large dining room table which was great for family dining and playing games at night. I would definitely stay there again.

Great Mountain Cabin

Everything we needed for our weekend stay was provided. The location is very convenient to Tweetsie, Boone, an Blowing Rock. There was adequate parking ang plenty of space for our party of 7. Absolutely no complaints about anything.

The view was excellent!

My wife and I along with a few friends wanted to enjoy a long, quiet, peaceful weekend in the mountains... and we did! The setup of the house was perfect for our needs for sleeping, eating, and relaxing. The view from the back deck was very beautiful and peaceful. I would definitely go back.
