Duck House

  • The Duck and Dog House are a pair of beautiful, idyllic one bedroom country retreats, with all the comfort and cosiness you could wish for whilst on holiday on Anglesey. We have also got a log cabin called The Peacock Cabin that can be found under another listing.

    Whatever the weather you will enjoy the comfort offered in either of these properties, and the fun and excitement of the surrounding area. The sitting rooms with their log burning stoves provide the setting for relaxing after a day out exploring the natural beauty of the Isle of Anglesey and the surrounding National Park.

    We have sensitively renovated the properties over the last 4 years and have done much of the work ourselves taking into account every minute detail. Our hope is that we have created relaxing and calm spaces that enable you to fully unwind and enjoy time spent in this beautiful part of the world. The natural beauty of the area speaks for itself and if you enjoy the outdoors and love natural history this is definitely the place to visit - you will not be disappointed.

    Both the Dog House and the Duck House have a sleeping capacity of 2 +2 people each, however we have an adjoining door (sensitively hidden between them and locked if each cottage is rented separately) that allows access to the adjoining cottage if required. This enables two families/couples or group of friends to enjoy both spaces together, or a larger family to be able to rent the complete space. The additional sleeping for 2 people in each of the cottages is a sofa bed so you would need to be organised and know each other well!

What an amazing place. We loved it here and were sad to leave. Ben and Katie made us feel really welcome and the cottage was so homely we settled right in. Great location as first base for walking Anglesey Coastal Path - with great birdlife on the doorstep. Couldn’t have been better and greatly recommended. Many thanks to you both!

We had a lovely stay at the duckhouse. The location is perfect for exploring Anglesey. It's in a quiet location close to Maltreath Marsh which is full of birdlife. The cottage is cozy and comfortable. The bed is perfect!

We stayed in the Duck house which was beautiful. The location is amazing and the children absolutely loved interacting with all the animals, especially the horses. The facilities are fantastic and the views are beautiful. Katie and Ben were absolutely lovely and we would love to return again

Fantastic Stay

The property is idyllic. The hosts are absolutely amazing and understand hospitality. We loved our stay so much my husband wanted to extend it! This location is remote and perfect for just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful Welsh countryside.

Exceptional

The duck house was such a relaxing place to stay after a long journey. So well equipped and spotlessly clean. Katie and Ben couldn’t have been nicer hosts and Penny our dog was made more than welcome.

The hosts were lovely, very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. They put the heating on earlier for me and filled our log basket to the brim without question. We were allowed to feed the horses and it was lovely to see the peacocks and chickens outside our door when we threw bits of food out for them. I want to go back in the summer

Host was prompt in replying to messages both before and during our stay. We appreciated the treats left for us in the cottage. The kitchen was fully equipped. There were a couple of areas that could have been improved - a sign pointing to the location from the road would have helped. Luckily I had read in someone’s review not to follow GPS and instead used the What3words location. Still we were unsure if it was down the unsealed road and there were many large potholes filled with water that we were afraid of getting our car stuck. We arrived after dark too which made it more difficult. I wasn’t pleased with the sofabed offered for my daughter to sleep on. No issue with the arrangements for a 3rd person, however the back cushions, seat cushions and armrests were all grubby. I’m not sure if this is supposed to be for pets but that’s what it seemed like. The main bedroom was cheerful and I liked the decor throughout.

Duck House

Three enjoyable nights in the Duck House. Lovely quiet away from it all location. Ben was very friendly and helpful on arrival. Would have appreciated a little more communication in advance but otherwise a lovely stay.

We had a lovely stay here

When we eventually found the property (directions would have been helpful as Google maps couldn’t find it) we were given a warm welcome by Ben. The property is just as described and beautifully furnished and decorative

Lovely cabin in the grounds of a picturesque cottage with plenty of animals around. Make sure you get accurate directions before you set off!

Home from home

The Dog House is a very well equipped cottage. Everything you need to start you breakaway. Very relaxing, extremely quite, beautiful views and lovely hosts. Great walks with plenty to see and do. If you want to get away from all the hustle and bustle and just relax you will not be disappointed. Go on book a few days and have some down time. Tracey and Larry 👍🏻

Amazing, luxury cottage

We stayed at the dog house for 2 nights for my partner's surprise 30th birthday trip. Katie couldn't have been more hospitable and helpful. She answered queries quickly, made the cottage so welcoming and even did a full balloon and banner display unique for my partner! The cottage had a real woodturning fire with limitless wood, complimentary wine, chocolates and eggs from the hens on site! Great value for money and such a lovely experience. Cannot recommend this place enough and honestly the countryside, beaches and little towns are great to explore and enjoy. Will definitely return!

Incredible Stay!!

Beautiful from start to finish, cosy, clean and stylish accommodation from the comfiest bed to the most amazing shower! Incredible location....we absolutely loved seeing the horses, sheep and cows and free range chickens and peacocks right outside our living area, we were also welcomed on one morning by sheep happily grazing in the garden. Highly recommended, wonderful hosts that can't do enough for you! Book your mini break/trip here, you definitely won't be dissapointed!

Absolutely amazing place

Without going into a long essay! Book this place you will not be disappointed at all! Location is amazing! Property is perfect! And you will have the best break ever! Cottage on a farm in the middle of wales! It does what it says on the tin! Get booking ASAP.

Wonderful stay

Thanks Ben. We loved our stay. The location is amazing. The views from the cottage and visits from Ruby and all the other animals made it perfect to just laze around. The beaches and walks nearby were also very stunning. Llanwyn island was both beautiful and interesting (we had great weather that day) We both thought you made our stay even more relaxing and fun. You were so generous with your time, advice and a couple of extra things you provided (over and above what you needed to😀). BBQ was an added bonus that we hadn't expected to be there. Great shower, everything you needed in a well kitted out cottage. Fabulous. Hope to come again. Michelle and Adrian.

Cosy & quiet cottage

We arrived in the dark & made the mistake of following satnav! By far the easiest way to get here is via Malltraeth, we worked that out the next day in the light when we got our bearings. The cottage was larger than expected there is a large outdoor space with picnic tables & benches, which must be beautiful in the summer as it’s a real ‘dark sky’ place. Spotlessly clean with an amazing shower room, well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing break. Can’t fault it & hope to go back when there are no storms forecast (Dennis !). Would also be nice to go with another couple as there’s an adjoining cottage called the Duck House. Plenty to do if you want to, canoeing on the river etc., or kick back & relax in front of the log burner with tea & cake 😋

Wonderful Cottage, best shower EVER.

What a wonderful little escape this cottage was, having everything we needed for a peaceful and relaxing weekend. Very clean, welcoming and warm with an excellent log burner. The bed is comfortable and the shower, Oh My God, was amazing. I'd go again just for the shower. Make sure you take detailed directions from the website before you set off, it's not easy to find in the dark. Ben and Katie were super friendly and helpful, and the fresh eggs are off the chart good. Thank you for a great stay, we sincerely hope to return!

Picturesque country cottage

We had a gorgeous stay in the Dog House. So sorry it was so short and wish we could have stayed longer. Very friendly hosts and animals. The dog house was so clean and everything. Bottle of wine, fresh farm eggs and lovely flowers were lovely. I wish we didn’t live in Australia because I’d love to come back again and again
