We loved Big Sky; the restaurants, the people, the good times were many. As we made our way to the house, we were impressed by the beautiful area, in spite of ongoing construction; it merely made us anxious to see "our" house for the week. Our first disappointment began as the prearranged appointment with the property manager was missed - simply a no show. The house was a very big disappointment. We found dishes, flatware, pot & pans and glassware to have been placed in the cupboards without having been washed. It was disgusting. We had to wash before we could prepare a meal. When brought to the attention of management, we were informed that good help is hard to find. The kitchen range is caked with burned on grease. The cupboards are worn out. Hinges on the corner cabinet are broken and the door merely "hangs". The garbage disposer had to be replaced during our stay, due to a leak. and 2 showers had black mold in the corners. When we complained about the dusty house, upon our arrival, a housekeeper was sent over. We could tell that, because things were moved, not because the house was cleaned. We took photos of the broken cupboard, some of the chipped dishes, some of the dirty dishes; if I could attach them, I would be happy to do so. The slate walkway and stairs are in bad shape. The bedding is abysmal; worn out sheets, standard pillow cases on king pillows, no pillow protectors, and there were not extra blankets for the chilly nights. The mattresses are in bad shape, lumpy in some rooms. The windows haven't been washed in some time and the blinds are very dusty. Yes, we know there are forest fires and we expected the ash and dust from them. We did not expect the dust in a closed house and upon our arrival. This was our first experience with VRBO and Home Away and we will think twice using them again. What is the recourse for a property of this expense and disappointment? Should we post our disappointment on social media? We hope to hear from you soon.
