We had a wonderful week at this beautiful home a short walk down a path to a gorgeous beach. The home was well appointed with everything we needed. We had 6 adults and 3 kids - plenty of room to hang out, play games, and eat together, but also plenty of room to have some privacy when you wanted it. We've been coming to the area for about 12 years - we've stayed at Shorewood Hills, Sawyer, Union Pier, and Benton Harbor. This was by far our favorite beach. We enjoyed having some calm water days, and some fun wave days in the water. It's in a nice quiet neighborhood, and there are no stairs to the beach, which was a treat. We watched beautiful sunsets from the beach each night. We'll be back!

Fun family vacation home

Stayed her for a week with extended family. Beds were comfortable and house was very clean. Big beautiful yard, could have done outdoor games, badminton or cornhole. Close to everything. Nice big table for eating and gaming!

Loved our stay!

We enjoyed our stay with Bluefish Vacation Rentals so much! The home was the perfect size for our family and we enjoyed drinking coffee on the sun porch, and playing games around the large table. Everything was cozy and homey. We would love to stay again soon!

Extended family Thanksgiving

We rented this property so the families of my sister and myself could be together for Thanksgiving. We were 14 in all and it was wonderful to celebrate together. The kitchen is well stocked with all kinds of cookware and serving dishes and the massive dining table could seat all of us. These were our reasons for choosing this house. Being an older house (1920s?) it has both the charms and challenges of a home from that period. Still, it fit like a comfortable old shoe and served us well.

Peaceful Getaway on Beautiful Lake

This is our second year in a row and plan to make it an annual tradition. Can’t beat the location and proximity to private beach. About one mile of private, quiet, beach access. Fun for the whole family including our dog. The house had everything you could need and the communication was wonderful. We rented a crib from a local company which made it very convenient for all.

We enjoyed our time here. We had a few challenges with the home, but the property manager did reach back out to us to help resolve as much as he could. The lake was beautiful, and a short and nice walk away.

Girls weekend

There were 5 of up that stayed here for a short getaway from the madness. This home was very clean and cozy! There was more than enough room for everyone! It was well stocked with kitchen utensils, dishes and pots/pans. It’s in a very quiet neighborhood and so close to the beach!! We can’t wait to come back!!

Lakeside 2020

Our family has been staying at this Turner Shores cottage since 2012. The best feature of this cottage is its proximity to Lake Michigan ~ only a short walk. It also has a wonderful screened in porch where our family mainly hangs out when we are not at the beach and a large front yard for playing outdoor games. This year we do have a complaint ~ we did not feel the shag carpet in the living room was clean ~ though the rest of the cottage was. It was quite evident the family prior to us had a dog with white fur ~ it was all over our youngest grandson. Maybe the owner should consider a carpet that is easier to keep clean. Also I would like to mention it was difficult to lock the back door on our departure. With that said we once again thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will book again next year.

Private Beach Access, Ideal Setting

Beautiful home with access to a private beach. The beach was quite and was easy to get to. Dogs are allowed during early morning and evenings on the beach. The quite neighborhood was perfect for our family vacation with our 6 month old. The house is nice and clean. I was disappointed with a few things left out in the initial information provided such as the change in check in and check out times. Also, no beach chairs were provided as previously mentioned. If planning to enjoy coffee, make sure to take your own filters too. House slept 5 adults comfortably. House does have stairs for both front and back doors. We would love to come back again!

New Years Getaway for 4 families with kids

This was a New Years getaway for 3 nights for 4 families with kids ( 4yrs old to 11yrs old) We did not know what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised from this hidden place of peace and quiet with possibilities for outside fun activities in wintertime on a lake. This house has so many board games, puzzles, and books for the kids and adults. Not even to mention that the piano on the picture is playing still some goods sounds. As going organic moms(as we are trying to be) and trying to cook as much as possible at home for the kids, we were surprised that the kitchen has so many pots and pans, all kinds of plates, bows, glasses, and cups. There is even full pantry of labeled local herbs(left probably from the owners). The house has only one fridge :( However, we used the sunroom for a walking fridge due to temperatures outside being closed to 30F. Because most of the local kids activities were closed for New Years, we were able to spend more time outside walking on the beach( We had sunny days) collecting pebbles and seashells, asking the kids to write on the sand with sticks and picking up all colors of fall leaves. ( and I’ll tell you the kids most favorite moment- when they saw a herd of dears in between the beach houses) This house was a great choice for us because we wanted to be out of Chicago, to experience the nature but still if there is a kids medical emergency to be able to get to the city. And couple of last things, the house was well heated, and the porch barbecue grill was working great. It depends on our schedules but definitely we would like to make this destination our new tradition.

Best week of the year!

For many years now our family has vacationed at a Turner Shores cottage in Lakeside. Since we outgrew our original place, we started to rent this current cottage. My family and I love all the wonderful space, the proximity to the beach, the large dining room table as well as the three bathrooms. We were much appreciative that Bill promptly came over to change out storm windows to screens in the porch area at our request. We only had two very minor issues ~ we wish the deck had a table to sit around (there was one there the first year we rented) and also we did not appreciate that the previous renters left quite a bit of unused food etc. in the pantry ~ thus we had to move before we could add our own. See you next year!

Annual spring family vacation

Our two growing families have enjoyed time together since 1986. This year required a larger home which we found at Lakeside. We all spread out in the long large living room which had a dining room table to fit the eleven of us. Other pluses were a good size yard,3 bathrooms, walkable neighborhood and close access to the beach. Great location for biking,hiking and trying out new restaurants.

Perfect house for large groups! Short walk to the beach.

Nice experience at this large house. We would definitely go back. Loved the large dining room table that fit so many! Clean house with plenty of parking. Just a few suggestions: have liquid soap in bathroom instead of hotel bar soap, heat was not evident in master bedroom on main floor, guard rail needed on top bunk in bedroom on main floor, upstairs stairs railing was rather low and seemed unsafe for kids.

Location was great, very disappointed in the house!

The location was fabulous. Very disappointed in the house. Could not even use a blow dryer in the upstairs bathroom without blowing a fuse. I felt like the air-conditioning was a fire hazard. Air-conditioners are plugged in through an extension cord. Only one smoke alarm in the whole upstairs! There were lots of ants on the kitchen counter! Should have been sprayed! Definitely was not worth the amount of money we were charged!!!

Very enjoyable house for big family!

If only house had a view of the lake, it would deserve 5 stars! Walk to beach was really easy with 3 toddlers and two very pregnant mothers. Neighborhood was also very pleasant. Altogether we enjoyed our stay.

This is a great property for a large family with small children.

We were very grateful for the convenience of the beach. Just a short walk and easy access for those with strollers and small children. We appreciated the 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms as well as the spacious living space. We had a great week with our children and grandchildren!!
