It was ok. Only stayed there because we had a party to attend around the corner. Definitely wouldn’t stay again as was terribly noisy late at night. Luckily we didn’t return till after 11 so only had to endure the noise for a short time. It should either be a pub or hotel? But not both

Not a hotel

This is not a hotel , it's not even a B&B as it doesn't serve breakfast ! It's basically a pub with rooms mostly having to share a communal toilet and bathroom

A bit surprised to be greeted with, 'Have you booked?' when I'd booked a few months in advance. However, after a quick check upstairs, we were told ok and shown to our double, ensuite room. The proprietor switched on the lights, which didn't work. I know unforeseen faults can arise, so agreed to go into the next room, but it was a twin, and not ensuite. We were assured no one else was staying, and the bathroom was just down the corridor. All ok, except that I have emailed to ask for a small refund, as we didn't have the room we wanted, but have had no reply. Not happy with that. Also, be aware that breakfast is only served on a Wednesday and Friday and there is no cafe in the village (anymore) to get any!

The staff were very friendly and most helpful, food was delicious. The room was brilliant a tad small bathroom shower but in keeping with the building. Loved it will come again.

Lovely building, lively pub, good service, bit of a maze trying to get parked on an evening. Sharing bathrooms potentially problematic and low head clearance means i've got a few bumps, but they did warn me so thats my fault!

Memorable for all the wrong reasons

Odd little place. We were shown to our room which was of adequate size and appeared clean. There were no handles on the en suite door meaning we daren't close it for fear of being trapped. The bar was very noisy, it sounded as if the crowds were in an adjacent room. Despite notices in the room advising breakfast availability from 8am, the place was completely empty of staff in the morning so we ate at a local cafe at which the owner said no breakfasts had been available at The Bull for several months. Upon our return to our room the keypad had ceased working and we were unable either to retrieve our belongings or find any staff to help. Eventually a lady arrived in her nightwear and released the door lock. A memorable stay, but not necessarily for all the right reasons!

Great little pub

This is a great pub, with great staff. There is a really nice, friendly atmosphere, which makes you relax. The food is great too, I recommend the Hunter’s Chicken, it is superb. I will definitely be going back there.

Basic noisy pub with poor rooms

Very noisy till bar closes at midnight, very basic room lacking in comforts (eg no chair), breakfast not available despite advertising it in the room and I was pointed to the cafe up the road. Service non existent. Did not use the restaurant as just too noisy. Will not return and would rather travel further to get a decent nights sleep.

Had to use noise cancelling head phones as it was so noisy, left them in the small. When I called to tell them they said there was nothing left in the room.

Just a bed needed

We only needed a bed for the night, and this ticked all the boxes Open the door of the pub and walked straight up the Chiltern hills Very helpful staff and the food was good value for money
